      @MostlyHelpful Před dnem

      I've not had a B5, but I've done a number of ISOFIX retrofits for other brands and the process is often the same. First thing to do is to inspect behind the seat to check you have the correct mounting points, which are threaded holes in the body of the car. You may need to remove the seat back to do this. Second is to buy the ISOFIX parts for your particular Audi A4 (I bought mine on eBay). If you haven't already, it's then a case of removing the seats - there will be a guide somewhere on CZcams on how to do it. Then you install your ISOFIX bars in the same way as shown in my video and put everything back together. From the quick bit of research I did you "may" need to trim a bit of the seat fabric but I'd fit everything first before committing yourself. Good luck!

      It's a no brainer if you are happy with the coffee it makes. Personally, even at £57, I wouldn't buy it as I don't like the coffee these Vertuo machines make. I rather just buy ground coffee and use a cafetiere than go back to Vertuo.

      It's not clear what version you've been given, but it sounds like it's going to be either a 3/8" or 1/2" fitment (like mine) so you can then only fit sockets or extensions with those fittings. If you want to use it for screws and it is a 3/8" fitment then you will need an adaptor (amzn.to/3RZEjRF) with a screwdriver bit. If it's a 1/2" fitment you will need this adaptor (amzn.to/4cDunW7). Better still would be to buy a dedicated impact driver like this one (amzn.to/3zwPQkV).

    Great video. Can this trolley jack be pushed under the car at the front and used to lift at the central lifting point near the centre of the front axle? My guess is that it cannot due to its short length and the need to raise the lever up high to pump the jack. i.e. Is it only useful for lifting at the edge of the car under the sill lip?

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful Před 16 dny

      You are right in that it is short so with cars with central jacking points it won't work. However I have used it to lift an engine from below in order that I could swap out an engine mount and it's low enough to be able to do that.

    Okay, I'm a nerd. I'm thoroughly impressed by your investigation. I agree with your conclusion. You don't expressly say it, but I get the impression that you believe that Nespresso is perpetrating a fraud on consumers. I have a Vertuo Plus. I love the taste and the convenience. It actually saves me hundreds of dollars per year in visits I no longer make to my neighborhood Starbucks. I make my own specialty drinks daily. Nespresso, with the Vertuo pods, has become a more responsible corporate actor with regard to the sourcing of their coffees and the sustainability of their pods.

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful Před dnem

      Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Nespresso are in the business of making money from their coffee machine/pod ecosystem and I can't blame them for that. However the way that they are effectively ignoring their original machines and heavily promoting the Vertuo machines limits customer choice and it's that which I have an issue with. I would prefer them to actively sell both machines side by side so the customer can decide what style of coffee suits them best.

Your mug sized coffee will come out as a Double Espresso, a Grand Lungo will come out as an Espresso, a Double Espresso will come out as a single Espresso and an Espresso will come out as a 25ml Ristretto using this feature. @@MostlyHelpful I’m looking to get a golf for my first car at 17 when the time comes for me, but I wanted to ask you a few quick questions on how it performs. I wanted to know if you had any issues on the lowness of the car such as scraping on bumps and things and if the interior looks or feels cheap, and if it actually is spacious as it has transmission tunnel and the back looks tight. Also how high would insurance be for me at 17 years old and if it really would be a good first car for me. What common problems do the mk5’s have and how much do they cost to fix them and if the audio quality has deep bass or not, because you know me a young black driver blasting out music is a bit of me I can’t lie. If you manage to get back to me I appreciate you.

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful Před měsícem

      In your situation I would run some insurance quotes and see what the costs are. Given your age it's likely to be very expensive and that may rule it out, in which case the other questions won't matter. But to answer them, my Golf was comfortable and had no issue with clearance at all. Interior felt fine, better than my Fiat, not as nice as my Mercedes. Plenty of room in it for adults so no issue there, but the stereo was rubbish so that would need upgrading. Common faults will depend on which engine, but generally they are common enough that most faults are known and fixes identified. Good luck!

    Solid review, mate! - I have been an original user for years til I decided to swap to Vertuo 11 months ago. Been really disappointed with the Vertuo esp. when it comes to the coffee drinking experience and ease-of-use brewing the things. Not at all the same as when I tried the demo in a Nespresso shop, where you really don't get a chance to experience that unappealing coffee froth if you leave it standing for more than a min or so. As I used it more and more over time, I ended up having to go through the extra task of scooping up the foam before it becomes too unsightly. This shouldn't be how we are to experience coffee. Btw, if you write to Nespresso they stand proudly by this tech... but for any person wanting to enjoy a coffee, this is not what we sign up for. Switching back to my orginial machine!

      Actually, that's a good suggestion. They aren't particularly cheap here in the UK compared to the alternatives (£5.25 for 10) but worth a shot.

    Thanks for the video.Very informative. However, I do think that you should be making a distinction between the two (now three) different types of Vertuo machines. The first one that I had was the Vertuo PLUS.It was great because it had the easy motorised operation to open the replace the pod. Then I purchased a Vertuo NEXT-this Vertuo machine has the manual method to open to allow the pod to be put in, which I had so much difficulty using; also it was far more foamy than the Vertuo Plus.After 2 Vertuo NEXT machines stopped working, finally Nespresso agreed to replace the Vertuo Next with a Vertuo plus.The Vertuo plus makes far superior coffee than the Vertuo NEXT and is much more reliable. Nespresso has now brought out the Vertuo POP machine, much smaller and in many colours but again using a manual machine opener which I think is difficult to use and just Nespresso saving money on the nice motorised opening to put pods in/out which is used in the Vertuo PLUS My advice is to steer clear of the Vertuo NEXT (I can’t believe that Nespresso is still selling these-in Australia, anyway) and buy the Vertuo PLUS which is easy to open/close and is far more reliable and most importantly, makes better coffee!. The Vertuo capsules are expensive though but I am the only one using the machine once a day so it’s not too bad

      @MostlyHelpful Před měsícem

      I'm glad you found the video useful and thanks for the insight on your own Vertuo experiences. You make a valid point re the different machines but there's two points to note. Firstly, at the time of the recording the Vertuo POP wasn't on the market in the UK and this is the first time I've heard about it. Secondly I am not sponsored, nor given the products to review so everything you see if paid for with my own money and I'm not going to buy things just to review them. In the end the additional cost of the Vertuo pods and the inferior coffee meant that I was happy to continue to use my Citiz and original capsules.

    Can I use ssd and hdd together on pc 3268?

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful Před měsícem

      Looking inside my 3268 there's isn't room for an HDD and a 2.5" SSD in the case and there is only one SATA connection, so it seems you can only have one or the other. If you could somehow run the SSD via the PCI-E socket then you might be able to run both but it's not something I've ever done. I've recently upgraded to a 3470 which has a M.2 port on the board so with that you can run a M.2 SATA SSD (not NVMe) and then a regular HDD in the normal location.

      Yes, you can add an additional graphics card but it needs to be a low profile card and it also needs to not have a large heatsink as there isn't a lot of space in there. I used a Nvidia GeForce 405 card in my 3250 machine for a while but actually the onboard graphics were faster/better.

    Hey brother, not sure if you reply to this comment but I have a 2006 mini Cooper and it's a six speed but when I'm driving on the highway randomly the brakes will start to engage. I have to pull over once I come to turn the car off and then back on then I'm able to move again. I don't know what it would be causing the brakes like that

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful Před měsícem

      Certainly doesn't sound right. Check that you don't have a sticking caliper (quite common - happened on 3 of my cars previously) and then check fault codes using an OBDII reader to confirm there's no issue with the ABS module.

  • @jimgia

    Just to let people (do it yourself owners like me) - know they really don't need any special tools like the Pass Through Socket Set (great for full-time mechanics) to remove the Sway Bar Linkage, or the Spreader Tool for the knuckle clamps to loosen the bottom of the struts from the hubs. 1). The backside of the Sway Bar link bolts have machined flats that can take a 17mm open end wrench, to hold the linkage bolts to keep them from spinning while the nuts are loosened. So no need for an open-end socket to insert a hex wrench in there to hold it. 2). And the bottom strut clamp on the Hub Carrier can be opened up with a medium side flat heat screwdriver hammered into the clamp. And spraying some penatrating oil in the strut / hub carrier clamp will help it slide out more easily. I've been running H&R lowered Sport Springs on first my Gen 1 Mini, and then on my current Gen 2 to make it look and handle so much better. But I made a big mistake in retrospect, in ordering the original Mini HD Sport Suspension with my Gen 2 Mini back in 2012. I assume this is what came on the John Cooper Works option? Either way, it kept the stock ride height and increased the spring rate and added much stiffer shock damping and it handled horrible on the street - way too stiff and bone jaring, and the car sat way too tall in ride hight for good cornering. So I immediately installedwhen it was new, the H&R lowered sport springs and it handled and cornered much better, but the OEM Mini HD shocks / struts still rode terrible and are too harsh on public roads. I hated it! Then I drove a buddy's Gen 2 Mini that was set up for Autocross with H&R Springs and Bilstein Sport shocks and it handeled and rode so much better. So I went and ordered for my car new Bilstein Stage 3, B12 Pro Kit "Nurburgring" Shocks and Struts. These are shorter units with less travel to compliment the shorter H&R springs, with much larger diameter strut shafts for the demands of racing. The damping is firm as you would expect for a racing shock, but these Bilsteins still ride much smoother and are more complient, and with much better car control than the OEM Mini HD and Standard Struts & Shocks. I highly recommed switching to Bilsteins Stage 1 Street, Stage 2 Sport, and Stage 3 Sport & Track for any Mini shock and strut replacement. And the Bilsteins are not that expensive. You can get a set of 4 under $1000. And get the H&R lowered Sport Srings as well for better handling and looks. I buy my suspenison and Brake components from Tire Rack, who has among the best prices and fastest delivery. Enjoy the improved ride!

      @@stevegreenway1796 of course you can drink it however you like but don't try to pass it as something that it's not. For a typical americano 200ml water with one espresso shot would be max before you enter the "coffee flavoured water" territory rather than "still a coffee".

    I have a 2004 model. Have looked after it very well and love driving it. Also live in Surrey! Very comfortable inside. Great size. Have trouble with engine fault codes, though. Currently struggling to know what is causing codes P3042 and P0420 that have suddenly come on together. If anyone has any idea about this, I would be really grateful for some advice!

Code P0420 when Googled seems to suggest an issue with an oxygen sensor (not clear whether pre or post catalytic convertor) and I found this thread which might be useful for you. Good luck in getting it sorted! www.volkswagenforum.co.uk/threads/golf-mk5-1-6-fsi-p0420-error-engine-light-back-on.22090/

    I don't get the point, why the bonnet switch is connected to the resetting of the oil level monitor. The oil level should be showing correctly independent if the bonnet is open or closed

    • @MostlyHelpful
      @MostlyHelpful Před měsícem

      If everything is working correctly then it actually makes sense as there is no additional step for the owner/user to perform - the indicator resets automatically. The problem comes when the bonnet open/close sensor isn't working, as in my case. But I get your point in that why can't the sensor just detect the level of oil all the time, rather than being triggered by a bonnet open/close event. I'm sure there's a reason but probably one for the Audi engineers.
