mine just completely stopped working, wont charge, wont show up on the quest 2 at all. has anyone run into this issue before?

All the practical effects, pre CGI. Rear projection, stop motion, optical effects, traditional animation, and of course, matte paintings.

My family got a Nintendo switch for my birthday half a month ago, around 1,400₪ (400~ American dollars) which is A LOT, Then we had to pay to access e-shop, to pour some more acid on the skin they have to audacity to charge 50 bucks for a crappy game I can get on my laptop for 20$

I think another point worth talking about is ergonomics and the fanatic fan base. The ergonomics of the Switch are trash. Just about as trash as Apple’s Magic Mouse. And the apologists who have too much time and money would discredit valid criticism and defend Nintendo to Mars and back. These are serious problems for any products and the culture by Nintendo sheep and iSheep is simply harmful for new consumers.

7 Years in Tibet and Titanic I believe were the last films to use glass matte paintings. Both only have one shot each and they are brief but kinda cool they still used them up until 1997.

I love my switch but it's 60 dollars overpriced and the joycon controller is a joke they work portable I guess but just add another 70 onto the price.. Then you need screen protector. I got my last gen PS4 next to my switch with my dualshock 4 I feel for my PS4 I get much better value. Also one major gripe I have is I like PS4 style analogues and analogue triggers and I get neither with Nintendo products. Also I put my slider thing on backwards and I ripped it off with force. It fits in my switch put the gamepad sliders seem to be slightly more wobbly. Trying to pass the joycon controller off as a actual controller you would use to play smash is a crying shame and disappointing. Controller should have been in the box even if they want to cut costs on the controller it should been in the box.

My left controller is completely broken. It snaps open all the time and one of the screws went missing…. Somehow? And now the left controller wiggles. My right one is drifting 🥲

If Nintendo brings Resident Evil 2 ( old version from 1998) and Resident Evil 3 Nemesis ( old version) to the Nintendo switch console. I will have absolute zero complaints about buying Nintendo games full price and I will buy more of those full price games if these two old games come to Nintendo Switch in the future.

This video seems to mix two different things. First, Technicolor was first a two-color system before the firm Technicolor managed to develop the three strip process. It was still Technicolor, but the process name was first "Process 2" and then "Process 3" (check the Wikipedia, or Technicolor's archive at George Eastman House's website). Their two-color system was not sore to the eye, but it lacked a certain chunk of the natural color palette (e.g., blue) - like the previous Kinemacolor process. So the clips you're showing after 0:51 are filmed with Technicolor 2 process. This film, The Toll of the Sea (1922) was massive success even if prints had warping/alignment problems. And then, filming three-strip Technicolor was a fully different thing than making Technicolor (positive) prints for theaters. Last films with three-strip cameras were made at the end of the 1950s. So Godfather II (1974) was not shot on Technicolor, but it was few of the last well known films that had Technicolor dye-transfer prints made for its theatrical release (at least in USA and Europe). Other well-known films were Star Wars: New Hope and Suspiria. You could have made Technicolor prints from any color negative, like from far more budget friendly Eastmancolor film negative. So there's few different things Technicolor!

I find it laughable how the switch is made from cheap fragile plastic while the gameboy that was made DECADES ago was pretty damn durable. There was even a story on how a gameboy survived a bomb blast and you could still play it.

The thing is so bad you can't even play it on dock without it overheating in a short timespan! Nintendo have officially lost 90% of my respect!

Yeah but the Nintendo switch and the games on it doesn’t really scream high quality to me. Its more on the side of laziness, underpowered hardware and thus games barely run. They barely hit 30 frames and as for resolution well 720p ain’t even an avg here. Don’t get me wrong i enjoy some franchises but high quality is not what i would describe the switch and its library as.

In my opinion the Switch is great but there is a few problems for sure, I prefer the Switch over the Wii U in terms of game quality but the Wii U had better features, for example where the hell is the virtual console on the switch? compared to the Wii & Wii U there is barley any retro titles on the Switch and the NES & SNES online are garbage, we barley get any games and when we do the games that come out on them are games nobody even knows about, compare it to the Wii and Wii U and it's no contest. Also Joycon drift is a problem and I really hate how cheap the Joycons are, I didn't have any that broke yet but I do still think they're pretty cheap. Overall great video

My joy cons once broke in 3 days

It's a crap console that is utterly overpriced and underpowered.

The thing is pretty crappy tbh. I got one back in 2018 and honestly it isn't worth the price. The exclusives like Botw and odyssey might be good but playing anything that isn't an exclusive isn't worth it. The only third party game I found myself playing and enjoying on the switch was minecraft. I had to buy 4 pairs of joy-cons cause of the drift as well. The joy-cons are sh1t either way, I had to buy a pro controller for an outrageous $70. I've had my fun with it but I don't recommend it to play anything third party. It may be worth trying out for the exclusives but playing 2k on 30 fps isn't a 'phenomenal' experience.

I would like to see a filmmaker revive the art of actual painted mattes for one more big, epic film. It will take someone with the love of the old classics, who will want to revive that specific look. I just got done watching Black Narcissus last night and it was amazing.
