In the Philippines, only pork, chicken and beef, are commercially available in almost all areas. As such, meat and poultry dishes generally use one of these ingredients. In the provinces, goat, deer, carabao and some other more exotic meats are also used as alternates.
Most Filipino meat dishes are made to complement plain, white rice. The viand must be tasty so that even a small amount is enough to flavor a spoonful of rice. To go a long way, meats are usually highly seasoned and often saucy. Meats that are fried or grilled over charcoal are invariably eaten with an assortment of dipping sauces.

Yes pwede po lemon juice.
And the best trick to make this dish even yummier is to cook this the day before you plan to eat it and put it in the fridge for a day. In that way, all the yummy juices or sauce will have plenty of time to penetrate the inside of the chicken meat. Then, the following day, when you warm it up and bite into it, the inside meat won't taste like it's been boiled but instead will taste just like the flavorful sauce that it has. 😋 Bon appetite!

Yes po di talaga nilalagyan ng sugar yung vigan longganisa kaya maasim may sukang iloko kasi. 😊
Mixing sweet and savory isn't for me. I have asians friends and they LOVE mixing sweet and savory together and my friends love to dipp their food in sweet condensed milk, they dipp pizza or fryed food like chicken and they love soooo much dipping their cheese balls in condensed milk , they go crazy on that , my friend keep saying to me that ; i can't just not love it ? So he keeps bringing me sweet and savory dish to taste ??? Is that normal? 😅😊
Yes most Filipinos have a sweet tooth that is why even in spaghetti, we love having a little sweet taste on it. But some regions are not fond of sweets like the provinces in the north (e.g. Ilocos).
I think the coconut milk ruined it😢, next time I'm not adding the coconut milk. This recipe also misses some brown sugar so I added it in mine.

tried it, masarap napaupak ng kanin gf ko hahaha para daw syang nasa mang inasal. sa mga nagsasabing maasim yung timpla wag kasi gagamit ng datu puti na suka Palm vinegar po gamitin niyo. ako in My case sukang Iloco po ginamit ko kasi di sya super asim sakto lang. perfect to promise. konting tip, yung naiwang marinade ilagay lagay niyo rin via table spoon kapag binabaliktad niyo bago pahiran ng achuete oil, panalo pramis!
