INTERACTIVE COCKPIT VIEW
FINAL TURN AT 710 FEET - SAM RATULANGI INTL AIRPORT
Sam Ratulangi International Airport, is located in North Sulawesi, 13 kilometres northeast of Manado. This is one of trickiest approach procedures in Indonesia for jet aircraft. Surrounded by mountainous area with highest obstacle at 6545 ft.
Minimum Sector Altitude in the vicinity are 8600' for south area, and 6500' over north area. Due to high terrain on south area, it is uncommon to carry out ILS approach runway 36. NDB RW36 circling is considered more safe to be conducted.
The approach looks like Kaitak-Hong Kong IGS RW13, but in opposite direction.
This video was taken in 2015 before taxiway renumbering.
