Plymouth Trail Duster differences from Dodge Ramchargers (minimal) Mopar trucks 4x4
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 2 lety
A quick video pointing out some of the subtle but important differences between the Plymouth Trail Duster and the Dodge Ramcharger. Ramcharger‘s were produced in much greater numbers and for a much longer production run. Trail dusters were only produced from 1974 until 1981 and less than 40,000 total vehicles were made. This video points out the emblems and differences that make the Plymouth su...

Nice
I just ordered my custom 940 Osborne titanium scales and Damasteel blade. 650$ plus tax
I didn’t know the Plymouth Trail Duster existed until a few months ago. It seems to me that there weren’t many differences between this and the Dodge Ramcharger, other than different branding and some trim options as well. Maybe I’m wrong but I would like to think that the Trail Duster had a slightly more upscale and fancier interior than the Ramcharger. Sort of like the way the old school GMC Jimmy was compared to the Chevy Blazer.
Beautiful SUV🎉
Tom can you please reach out to me I have a 66 charger and I’m 18 old with not a lot of knowledge please reach back to me
Either way same as ram charger right?
Did the ramcharger also have the cooler in the console?
Very nice video and a beauty of a ride bravo.
Hello where can i find some body accessories like taillight and frontlight ...Do you know a store where i can order tks
do you still have one and how much
I still have a couple, but they are very rare. I have one that is a little rough and I'd probably ask at least $1k and would prefer not to ship (due to size, weight and fragility of the aluminum).
I miss my old 78 top hand edition. Loved watching this and eyeballing yours
1st car/truck was a 79 quad headlight prospector. Miss it very much.
Great Trailduster, looks brand new. I like the other Mopars that you own as well
Where did u order this customer bugout from? I cant find the combinations on Benchmades website
I ordered it directly from their website. They may have altered their options, but this was ordered using the knife customizer at the main site They may have limited options until the holiday season is over. Might make sense to call them. They've been great about picking up the phone in the past
My step dad bought a brand new one in 1975 4 Wheel drive Plymouth trail Duster she was sweet 318 automatic it WOULD go anywhere I was 15 then
Thank you so much for doing this.
is there a top option for the early 1974 ramchargers with no door rails? or known adaption
my family had one growing up it Had Plymouth in black stamped into the center of the grill it was a 75 , i loved it ,and baught it from my parents ,they were full time four wheel drive 5 mpg in a strong head wind it had a 36 gallon fuel tank if i remember correctly ,couldnt imagine trying to keep fuel in one today the weak spot the frames were known to crack on passenger front side by shock mount
I owned a 1978 Plymouth TrailDuster as a young man!! It was gold rust color with the the four x four on the side and 4x4 on the tailgate just like this one. Flippen loved that truck!! You forgot to mention the most important thing that the TrailDuster had that the Ramcharger didn't!!! It was a convertible baby !! The top came completely off. Took Me and a buddy about 5mins to drop the top !! Absolutely the best feature of a TrailDuster!!!
Just watched your video been a while since you installed the softtop my ramcharger was used as the template vehicle so glad it fit good softtopper did a great job
Why is there dama steel blade knives that are cheaply priced if damasteel is expensive ?
From what I understand, damasteel requires additional time in forging. Much like vehicles, there can be large differences in design, materials and build quality. It's why KIA can sell a car for $25k and Ferrari can sell one for $2.5 million...both cars, drastically different
I bought mine two yrs ago but haven’t been ready to install it yet, other work being done. I didn’t see a gasket under the side rails? I wonder if it’ll keep water out? Thanks for doing this! Can’t wait to get mine on this year.
I’m commenting as I watch, have you driven it yet with the top up? How is the header without the three extra screws?
I have the same knife along with one with the M4 steel and titanium scales from Benchmade. What is the damasteel with titanium handles Bugout 535 worth now a days?
About $550 as built
Thanks for the video! This was super helpful as I installed a Softopper that came with my 1980 Trailduster I recently bought
Glad to hear that it helped. I love the topper.
great video.......just got my pink damasteel and titanium bugout......only complaint from me is the hollowed out feel the titanium scales have.....i have the titanium 940-2001 which has full slabs of titanium giving it a heft and premium feel.....other than that....its perfect....
Probably my next ride
Awesome! Thanks for sharing 👍
Great job Tom. Definitely appreciate it. This is Travis Carlson.
That’s quite a stash of grilles! Don’t forget the small TrailDuster emblem on the right side of the dash.
Doug, not 100% but I think only sport models got the dash badge....it is a differentiator for sure...I'll have to research whether there is a "standard" TD dash badge. The only one I've ever seen is the Sport designation....now I am curious....
I've always wondered what the differences were, thanks for making this! Are there any interior changes?
just got mine! thanks for the video Tom!

no need to remove door panels for just doing the trim. I also said Coronet R/T which did not come out until 1967. Meant the Coronet line. Not a professional mechanic, just some guy who plays around with cars.
Can you make a video with the safari look plz!
Great suggestion. It's still 100+ degrees in Phoenix, but soon. Stay tuned!
Excellent job on showing how to remove the softop!
Terrible footage
not sure what you're expecting for FREE....video is exactly as described....f'ing troll....
What size was that bike? It looks to be a 20". What did you sell it for? What did you replace it with?
frame was a 27.5 inch, 1999 Yeti Ti ARC. I sold it a while back for about $700. The XT components were fairly worn, but she was a great bike. I sold it to the roommate of the guy who sold it to me, so I know it went to a good home. I didn't replace it as I tore my ACL in 2017 and had to give up riding (un-clipping out of SPDs or ATACs was brutal on the knee). I guess I would say I replaced her with a Porsche 911....
Can you explain any fees you went through? Parking, entry, kayak rental, camping, launching etc... I wanna plan a road trip with a buddy and kayak horseshoe bend and set up a tent by the river for a few days. Thank you!
We only had to pay for parking and the back-haul to the dam. Different companies charge different rates for the boat, but expect $60+ per person. We all had boats, so unsure about renting. Camping was primitive, with established compostable restrooms that were clean. I'd recommend checking out the "AZ kayaking group" on Facebook. Tons of people have done it and have loads of advice. Definitely an amazing trip. Not for beginners, we had 3-4 kayakers flip coming back

Beautiful scenery, thanks for sharing! 💞🥰 Lovely video...LIKED!❤️ Perhaps you can stop by one day, we'd love to share our latest 😊🧡💚❤️
Nice truck. I have a 77 Trailduster, 440. I'm also in Az.
Be careful your dog doesn't stand a chance if they attack him !
Nice write up. Iv'e been contemplating one for my (Canyon red 78 Trailduster Sport) for about 20 years :-) . Besttop used to make them in black or white, always regretted not getting a white one when I could. Not sure I like the idea of adding holes in the bed rail, do you think some good clamps would work? I have a Minnesota Truck parts (dealer installed) 1/2 cab and don't want to monkey up the bed rails...
I wanted white to off-set the decals and wheels, but Softopper does not have a supplier for white material and I hear that it shows wear much more rapidly than the other colors...I'd love to see your truck. The color is pretty rare.

This is great Tom! I wrote those instructions and I will be updating them! Thank you so much for your thoroughness and I hope you love the topper!
17:35, I put the door surround in FRONT of the bracket and it should be behind....probably a reason I had to flex mine so far...Might swap them and see if it improves fit...
Excellent video!
I do realize that I skipped the door support bar install on the video. It's pretty easy, but apologize for the miss on that part of the install. I am not a professional mechanic nor installer/fabricator. I installed this on my personal vehicle in my own garage. I hope this helps other people install theirs or decide whether they would like to install one.
Very nice , Tom. Thanks for taking the time to video the install. I'm sure it will be a big help to others, including myself. Mike
