When studying in Oestrich-Winkel I had 8 wineries within 100 yards. Became a great Riesling fan back then. Thank you for sharing this, very educational!

Excellent stuff (again). Dark Cave is really, really good as you said. I usually stick with plain tsipouro, but Dark Cave is something else. Also Tsilili make a great "normal" tsipouro. I find Babatzim a little too sweet. Δεκαράκι (Dekaraki) is not bad either for standard tsipouro. As @markdeamer8619 mentioned though, the islands (specifically Crete) with their Raki (or Tsikoudia as you mentioned) can get...interesting...if you know some locals.

Aniseed flavoured Tsipouro are also consider Raki on the islands

We make lots of wine but only export like 5% of it. It's a tradition since the Dacian times to drink it all ourselves, so there's not much to be exported. Jokes aside, Romanian wine saw a massive decline in quality during communist times where it was all about quantity and quality was totally neglected. Due to this, Romanian wines got a bad reputation but things have changed and are still changing. Right now, we can find awesome wines at very affordable prices in most supermarkets and producers are starting focusing on exporting.

Took me a while to buck up the courage to watch for 40 odd minutes on one topic. Well worth it in the end. Probably cost a few 100 quid to sit through a wine lecture to get that level of knowledge passed on. Definitely gonna try and track down a few of these.
