I played Odyessy twice. Once with Alexios and once with Kassandra. And although you have some very valid points, i enjoyed the game with Kassandra much more. And in Valhalla i could take male Eivor much more seriously with that strong voice the actor has. I think the best way to include both female and male protagonists to the game is as Ubisoft did with Evie and Jacob, or to a lesser degree with Bayek and Aya. But I’m curious how things will turn out in Shadows

I fully agree, I think with how whimsical and light hearted the story is sometimes Alexios fits that vibe better, with the anger coming through in the more serious and dark moments. And I also just felt like Kassandra served as a better Deimos due to the amazing voice acting

This is technically a well executed video. I do totally disagree with your stance though. A Spartan female warrior is a perfect protagonist for an AC game. That’s what AC games are about, the marginalised, oppressed and the parts of history we don’t hear about. A canon choice isn’t a bad thing at all. It’s necessary for a series like assassins creed. That’s the problem with the game, the fact that you have a choice in the first place. You also use one quote as the only evidence of Kassandra being canon. This is wrong as well. Multiple people that worked on the game have stated she’s the canon option. You also have the novelisation of Odyssey which also has Kassandra which confirms her as canon. And lastly the evidence you chose to depict “they don’t care about your decision” that Kassandra appears in Valhalla is also because they wanted to reinforce her as canon. If they let you choose in an AC game it can mess the entire story of the series. That’s why choices for a protagonist in these games are stupid. Because even if you give the player the freedom you’ll still have to state which is canon so you don’t mess up the entire series. And in the process let people like you complain about something they shouldn’t complain about. Imo Kassandra totally works as the protagonist and is the best option. And I don’t think there is place in this series to give people the option to choose a protagonist.

I'm glad that they gave us the choice because thanks to Odyssey's romance options it allowed me to play an Assassin's Creed game with a gay male protagonist for the first time in the series.

i like Alexios better for both but i also like my main character to be funny and Deimos to talk like a pissed of ape no hate towards Kassandra

Let alone have entire armies just sitting around waiting for a woman to come lead them across the battlefield. Ancient greek soldiers would rather die than endure the shame and dishonor of letting it be known that a woman took the vanguard position...the most glorious and honored position for soldiers... in their army and lead them to victory. Better to be on the losing side of that fight than to become laughing stocks across the greek world when word gets out that they let a woman do all the heavy lifting for them.

I take it you don't like it when games have multiple endings but only one is the canon ending? I agree with what you said but I personally don't really mind Kassandra being the canon character since there's also only one canon ending. If I were to be annoyed by the canon character, I would also have to be annoyed by how my game ended if it diverged from canon.

Thinking about replaying Odyssey. First playthrough was with Alexios and got 100% achievements about 4 years ago and really enjoyed it. Even after watching this video I’m still debating if I should try Kassandra or stick with Alexios since it’s been years since I’ve played it.

They did the same thing to AC Syndicate. Evie was not only supposed to be the main character but also she was gonna have a more in depth romance story.

Alexios is cool but I kasandra is good too , and for me idk but when I hear female eivor I cringe a lil idk why, I agree that female protagonist can sell too but I kinda don’t like how ubisoft it’s shoving it in on us just to prove something, like in fc 6 you can tell female dani is the canon character if so then why add the choice to choose a male character? Idk man these the type of things that make a game loose its identity, and that’s how its been with Ubisoft this pay years.

And now with Shadows it's the same story the where force to have two playable character like in Syndicate, It's very possible Yasuke would had being a side character and was force to become the co-protagonist, as the story of Naoe looks like the average AC protagonist story I agree that the story of Yasuke is good enough to make a game out of it, and because we know very little about him the developers can add more to the story, but they could also done like in Freedom Cry were Adéwalé becomes the protagonist in the DLC, as we don't know what happened to him after the death of Oda Nobunaga

To me, Kassandra is the better misthios! An amazonian mercenary helping people with biceps bigger than my future! Alexios as Deimos seems more menacing and wrathful to me! Alexios sounds great as Deimos. Super glad Kassandra is the main character! I love her! As for Eivor, I much prefer the male one. A male vikingr sounds more badass, a bro/bro relationship with Sigurd seems better, with Randvi as well and finally, male Eivor’s voice acting is SO superior!

I love Ancient Greece and read a lot and study a lot about it. I can’t even imagine a Female being a Warrior in this game, if you could play only Female, it would just show how feministic and not historically accurate it is. Carrying about todays Feeling for other and showing Propaganda, more than focusing about the Game and the history and era. F*ck this world

I have a few things to say. First yeah fuck that Forbes article 🤣. Second there originally wasn't a canon choice. I seem to be the only person on Earth who remembers that the game director wrote on Twitter that Kassandra is Canon in the book and whatever you pick in the game is Canon to you. I actually hate Valhalla because it's the only RPG I have played that doesn't give your character a gender-neutral name or a title. So I'm always thinking in the back of my head that I'm playing the wrong character. And if the developers want to add a female playable character so much they need to work on a different franchise. I'm sorry but history wasn't the most progressive thing in the world. Almost everybody would be suspicious of a woman carrying a weapon on her lmao. If they want to do it they should do it like Aveline with the disguise mechanic. Going back to Evior I heard some people complain that they were playing female and was called a he so probably just glitches lol. But Alexios is my canon choice and when Kassandra pops up in Valhalla I'm just going with the Animus is glitching again😂.

Kassandra was a better mercenary as her voice acting fit it better and it felt more natural Alexios was a better Deimos his voice was more gruff, and menacing. In Valhalla male Eivor was the better voice actor overall, so he should have been the main character and there shouldn't have been a female option for that one Imo.

as a Norwegian who played female Eivor, I just thought male Eivor would be named Varinsson. Knowing now he bears a feminine surname, he's now headcanonically transmasc to me. I'm sure that's *exactly* what ubisoft was going for :)

My issue is that they market Alexios and male Eivor. The covers are male characters. If the female version was meant to be canon then fucking show it. Don’t hide behind it. Show that shit flaunt it. Show Cassandra crushing people instead of Alexious on the game box but no gotta trick the customers.

İ agree, Alexios sounds more funny and humorous as main character, but Kassandra sounds more cold and terrifying as Deimos. Which is why i play as Alexios

You’re complaining about having to run around doing mindless side quests but no one is making you do that. With this game, your experience is up to you. Sure you can run around doing dumb item quests all day if you want to but the game isn’t forcing you to.

In my opinion Kassandra is far better as a villain and protagonist, but Alexios always sounds like a villain to me

Honestly I’m glad there are 2 playable genders. If Kasandra was the only option then half of the gear sets would be pointless as they are clearly men’s armor.

TBH a female character in AC games would only make sense if they would treated properly for being female. In Valhalla... The Norse weren't feminist gay allies... they were quite sexist with defined gender roles. half of their Vikings weren't even women, and medieval england would laugh at the prospect of female rulers, more so of a female Dänish ruler. Sigurd apointing a Housecarl female, makes no sense neither. In history... women had to exert influence otherwise. History is gruesome.

I pretend that, because I picked Alexios as the main character in my play through, that he passed on the “mantle” to Kassandra, because he became ill, or just got tired of fighting, whatever, and that explains to “me” at least why I saw her instead of Alexios in my Valhalla play through. (Cringy nerd, I know lol) Also, when Nickaloas (sorry I know I butchered that spelling) says “You are my greatest treasure (or something like that), to me that is something that a Spartan father would say to his SON, the one that would proudly carry on his legacy as a future Spartan warrior. Yes, the fathers loved their daughters as well, but, there’d be no military future for the daughter. And for Ubisoft to make the female character in Valhalla canon to me is just plain stupid. It’s a VIKING game for crying out loud. What person was wanting to play this as a big bearded Viking? Sorry, just my opinions about it all

Bioware got it exactly right with the Mass Effect Trilogy. Shepard could be male or female, and the choice was up to the player. The entire world reflected your choice and st no point did you feel like you were gettjng a "bad versikn of the game" Or..maybe morw devs could try the Resident Evil 1 & 2 path, where both Male and female characters were cannon

Angstrom Levy is a tragic character. People like to treat Angstrom as the worst person in the world, that he is irredeemable. Nonsense. These are the same people who want a redemption arc for Omni-Man (who did much worse things than Angstrom). Furthermore, his actions are much more understandable considering that he has the mind of 1000 alternative versions who suffered at the hands of the Invincible.

Because Strong Women don't ever make sense, they have more injuries in Military Training (Israeli Army Data) and Damage their fertility when exposed to Excessive Physical Activities such as in US. Army Rangers. If Alexios and Kassandra are Demigods with the same weight, Alexios would still be stronger due more muscle mass/kg.

As main character I always preffer Alexios... its more charismatic... Kassandra put to much effort trying to be cool but it does not As Deimos Kassandra fit the rol very satisfactory, its cynical cold and cruel as a woman can be

On at least one level, Angstrom is worse than The Joker, simply because he did what Joker's been trying to do for years, he made his arch nemesis lose control

Worth noting that the Mauler that survived spells out that Angstrom's brain was being overloaded by too many memories at once so him becoming mentally unhinged is 100% justified.

As someone who has read the comic, "I thought you were stronger" is unironically one of my favorite moments in the entire series/story. It's an extremely impactful character moment and only really topped by one or two other moments in the comic that come later on.

If i can choose between a male or female, my first playthrough is always male.
