    Hi there! Thank you for the recipe. Just a few questions... 1. How long did you boil the meat before pricking the skin? 2. How long did you bake at 400°F? 3. Around what temp is the oil used to pop the skin? Thanks for your reply.

      30min low simmer turn off fire keep in stock for an hour before cooling in a baking rack, 1 1/2 hr baking , fry at 350F , thank you for watching 👍

    Wow, I have not seen a bao like this.... with an outside finish like that of a coffee bun/ pappa roti. I am extremely intrigued therefore, this recipe is worth a try.

    Looks yummy. Ano po yong egg wash na ginamit ninyo to brush the siopao bago ipasok sa oven? Eggwhite lang ba yon? Ano naman ang honey warm water. Mixture ba ng honey at warm water? Sana ipinakita ninyo ang measurement ng bawat isa. Thank you for sharing.

    there should be with shrimp siopao written in your display if you are going to sell it as other has extreme allergy with shrimp usually shrimp are added in siomai only not in siopao ,be cautious

      To make the lye water for use in most recipes (such as for Mooncakes), use a ratio of 1:4 (1 part baked baking soda : 4 parts water). So if a recipe requires 1 teaspoon of lye water, simply mix 1/4 teaspoon of baked baking soda with 1 teaspoon of tap water.

    Thank you Chef Melvin!! Your bao buns look fluffy and delicious. I made some char sui the other day…I will use your recipe to make “open” char sui bao buns!! I like the added milk powder and baking powder…I have a feeling that this will be my base recipe for liu sha bao and dow sha bao too. Many, many good wishes from an Asian home cook living in Ottawa, Canada.❤

      1/2 of cup of water and the rest of the measurements are on the bottom left corner

      You can see that it's almost half way between the 200ml and the 300ml so I would say a cup. Make sure the water is warm
