STAR WARS: THE GREY - TRAILER
'The Grey' is a cinematic concept trailer set in The Old Republic!
It was made as a tonal representation of a live action script I wrote back in 2019. When I finished the script, then brought some of the characters to life working with concept artists, I became obsessed with the idea of seeing these characters move. This is my fist time diving into Unreal Engine. Over the past two years I've taught myself enough to mostly accomplish what I was going for, and evolving along the way. What started off as an idea for a few select simple shots, turned into this behemoth. Like I mentioned, this is my first time diving into Unreal, or any kind of CGI for that matter. I'm an editor by trade, so while I'm familiar with VFX and work flows from that standpoint, I am in no way an artist. There are so many things I would love to fix here given the time, but I felt like it was the right moment to finally put my pencil down and let this thing fly.
I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did creating it. There's a bit of a story summary of the film below.

"Set thousands of years before the events of Skywalker -- during the GREAT GALACTIC WAR of the OLD REPUBLIC, 'THE GREY' is a galaxy sprawling space epic that deals with the psychological ramifications of manipulation, loss, and conflict within one's mind.
Apprentice to the Sith Lord, DARTH MALGUS, MHOLLAR is a hardened Emperial General with a strong connection to The Force. Years prior, a young and eager Darth Malgus abducts the newborn Mhollar from his parents the very night he emerged into the galaxy. The blood thirsty tyrant, laying waste to Mhollar's young family.
Malgus, raising the child in his own image, imprinted his ruthlessness, tenacity and combat prowess onto the young boy. However, the task proved challenging as the boy's natural essence repeatedly rejected the Sith ways. After 30 years, Malgus succeeded in transforming Mhollar into the hardened warrior who stands by his side, head of the Sith Lord's army. However, conflict still clouds Mhollar's mind. The powerful dark side user still at odds with his true self."

Aside from season 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian, this trailer evoked more emotion than anything Disney has done with Star Wars.

But where are the cheesy superfluous scenes? The unnecessary cameos with corny lines? Suspension of disbelief destroying jokes? Characters that arrive as badass at the start as they do at the end? Cute Pokémon style animals with literal awwwws? Long expositions about nothing? Where's the horrible story line or the Los Angeles hipsters pretending to be from space? Definitely not from Disney...

I do not watch anything Disney makes with reference to Star Wars anymore. The fans know exactly what the fans want. CZcams and other streaming sites are full of amazing content. I couldn't care less whether something is considered 'Lore' or not, because the whole concept of a single point of reference that validates fictional material as 'True' is rather farcical. I have my own interpretation of what events fit the grand narrative of the Star Wars universe, and Disney's 'vision' is an absolute woke disaster and should be dismissed.

HOLY SHIT!!! This looks better than ANYTHING Disney has ever put out for this franchise.
It has been my DREAM to get a movie or a series during the time period of SWTOR. There is so much potential there, so many great stories, such a great universe around you, so many incredible characters, so much lore to create something truly great from, and Disney just keeps pumping out mostly shit, with very few exceptions. And CGI is the way to go. Don't do live action. Live action is too limited when it comes to truly epic fight scenes.

For the first time since Disney put butterflies and Pixie dust on Star Wars Universe, I was excited thinking the movie was coming out soon. It's a credit to your Tallent and skill. If you ever decide to do a full feature I'll seriously invest and, destroy every lawsuit Disney throws.

Wow….it’s disgusting that fans are coming up with better content then Disney
This giving (Urban Arena Double Life Decisions) book feels to me.
This makes no sense. The Galactic Empire did NOT exist during the Old Republic. And when it did rise Darth Vader was the ONLY Sith. For this story to make sense it would take place after Palpatine's rise. But HOW can Darth Malgus even exist when there were only two Sith - Vader and Palatine. And the Emperor, being Sith would be able to sense if one of his "hardened Imperial (not Emperial) Generals" had "a strong connection to the Force". He would have been destroyed. So this story would need to take place in an alternate universe for Darth Malgus to even exist and rise to the power, not to mention the number of Jedi, that we see in this trailer.

Because it's in the Old Republic something both George Lucas and Kathleen don't want to stray off into because the Skywalker saga is supposed to be their main thing even though fans prefer old republic over Skywalker 😂
