I am Muslim Punjabi raised in Canada with many Sikh friends who are like family. On my recent trip to Pakistan Punjab I was able to pay respect at a few major Gurdwaras on behalf of my Sikh friends, and from my heart to all of you! In recent times the Gov of Pakistan has made it very easy for ANY Sikh to visit holy places such as Kartarpur or Nanaka sahib, this is a great step on the right direction. For anyone interested, look up "PILGRIM VISA" to Pakistan. I tell all Punjabis that I believe in our togetherness, it is not so impractical since we have already done it! We have lived in peace and cohesiveness. I am from a Muslim Rajput tribe that served in Maharaja Ranjit Singh's artillery as a commanders, the Great Punjab empire was secular, as my brother mentioned in the video, Maharaja Ranjit Singh's main advisor was a Muslim: Fakir Azizuddin. Azizuddin served the Sikh empire with his whole family in the ranks. I visited his Haveli in Lahore which has been converted to a museum with many Sikh artifacts that have been respectfully preserved. I like the idea of researching East Punjabi Sufi/Muslim traditions. Sufi tradition is much of the Soul of Punjab, I would bet there is much to uncover and re-visit in those lands. My Dad's Dad is from Gurdaspur and my mother's side has roots all over: Amritsar, Poonch, Delhi and Rajisthan. I wish Amardeep ji would have spoken about the similarity of our people, how we are the same culture and blood. An Indian Punjabi will find himself in a loving home of the Pakistan Punjab villages.
