I'm going to start making videos of my builds and hopefully can pass on some skills/ tips/ tricks and get someone else to have the love of knifemaking I do! Making a copper and damascus dagger. Part one

This is part one of the build for this beautiful dagger! It has a high carbon core/ cutting edge with band saw blade (15N20/ L6 steel) a layer of copper, another layer of band saw blade with a 90 layer damascus jacket made from mild steel and band saw blade. The handle is going to be amazing also!! Stay tuned for part 2!

What is the name of the substance to add hamon to knives?
I've done a few of those, i used a refractory cement. It's a differential hardening where the cement cools the steel at a different rate during the quench. The edge steel gets harder than the rest of the blade so you have a good hard edge for cutting but softer steel for the spline making it tougher and less likely to crack or break on impact.

Is it decoration only or did you give it an edge?
Once the handle is done and scabbard is built it will get a razor edge and be a high-quality, fully functional dagger. The 1095 cutting edge steel is fully treated, very hard and tough. 😉

Instead of 600 grit, I "hawk tuah" on that thang and then I buff the %$x@* out of it. I get the desired results every time.
The handle couldve been a little shorter but overall a beautiful sword!!👍👍

Truly beautiful work! It's very reasuring to see another bladesmith having HUGE problems during the build, and still managing to come out with an awesome final piece! The burl wood that you've used for the handle is amazing! I saw the finished sword, and I honestly thought that you'd made the handle from malachite!
