I got pulled over by highway patrol for riding my electric scooter, after threatening me with 2x $700 fines he let me go with a warning to not ride it again. As I was preparing to walk my scooter off a guy on a unregistered dirt bike flew through two intersections on one wheel, everyone in cars around who witnessed it stopped or slowed down to see what the highway patrol would do, he pulled up next to me and said, we arnt aloud to chase them mate because we get introuble if they crash, I said, so what you're saying is I should trade this scooter in for a bike? Pathetic Laws

Good work, I've just subscribed. The mobility scooter etc. laws are likely a bit different here in Vic. If there's a footpath beside the road, you must use that. Whether they applies to single footpaths where it's on the opposite side of the road, I'm not sure. I don't think you can be a on major road like a highway. When driving on a street, you must keep as far left as practicable. That one is up to interpretation, you could say you're avoiding rough sections, stones, or road debris. When there's a median strip, you must travel against the flow of traffic. This may also apply for dual carriageways, can't remember. Some of these laws are crazy, ay. I actually had my mobility scooter stolen by bucks party drunks that blew into my town. They even crashed it and trashed on purpose, and stuck their for fingers up at me when they fled. I'd previously had a meth head sit on my scooter and vandalised it (he bent the throttle controls rendering it immovable). Why do I mention these incidents, apart from the scum out there, because the laws surrounding scooters are not the same as if someone sat in your car, sat on your motorcycle, and or stole or vandalised either. So when the cops classify a scooter as a motor vehicle, they're taking the piss. It's kinda like having your cake and eating it too. And of course, in my cases, the cops do stuff all, and basically couldn't give a crap, because there won't be anything that serious to prosecute the perpetrators with, and hence they get off lightly, or all together. I had video surveillance of both incidents too. Cops are dog Cs, simple. And that's insulting to dogs.

Now I can hardly walk. With centrelink, you can't get a medical certificate for the same condition twice, even though the condition is permanent. And that's the word he should have used here, permanent, a permanent disability. By the police not acknowledging this amounts to blatant discrimination, in my opinion. So Centrelink do ignore the fact that your disability is permanent, and you need to have another condition to get a second medical certificate to be exempt from your mutual obligations with jobseeker/disability. And you're issued a disability pension card, yet you're obviously not on the full disability pension because that's really hard to get. They also assess you by their own inhouse doctors, and practically ignore any results and opinions by specialists, and can basically refuse any documents you upload without giving a reason. AND they're not even physicians, they're mostly psychologists, probably because of the number of mental illness claims. Just thought I'd inform people of this that are not in the know. By the way, how's that remark from the female cop. She was really saying I hope you fall off out of spite. Disgraceful.

My opinion is the female break the law stating that have you got proof you seeing a doctor she is not allowed to ask that question under the health guidelines. And if i was you i get the doctor to print out about of those letter you got and put expire date at 99/99/9999. Then to see if the cops pull you up. The all stuffed up they post to advise you when they are recording you.

30 second google search proves it is a mobility aid in NSW and legal to use with the appropriate documentation. I feel your pain mate this must get really tiresome of those who use them as a mobility aid.

Bro I'm on a disability pension and my scooter is my mobility aid,here's how it was told to me by a motorcycle officer(he was a good cop)rare as it may be these days,I can do 25kms in a 40km zone and 10kms in a 50km zone he thought it was stupid too,I ride safely am always slow down to just keeping me upright near any pedestrian's
