Mike, As a pedal designer, you might just be the King of Crackle & Sizzle.⚡️ Keep it gritty and carry on Sir, if you ever get out to Vegas the drinks are on me. Cheers!
😮😮😮
I think you used germanium with big leakage, that's why fuzzpot working bad or gain max alltime. So i use bias trimpot 20k at the collector of Q2 to tune right working of fuzzpot ! Q2 better to take witn low leakage. Tonestack from mk3 - good idea. I usualy used filter on inpet between 1n & 10n like Kilimanjaro mk1 scheme. Q2 & Q3 do all that huge sound, that harmonics.
Nah this is just how I prefer to make a MKI.
Very cool! I've experimented with making some TB mk2 with a switch to remove the first transistor stage/buffer thereby making the mk2 a mk1.5 but I could never get a good sound that worked with both settings and so I'd end up just keeping things set to the mk2 mode but this guy sounds fantastic!
Thanks! There’s another difference that matters quite a bit when switching between mk2 and mk1.5, the bypass cap on the fuzz pot on mk2 is only 5uf, if you used 5uf with a mk1.5 circuit it won’t have enough gain, it needs 25uf+ for the mk1.5. When I did a two in one like this i ended up using a 25uf and it was just a very high gain mk2! Pretty fun though.
@@SeekerElectricEffects gotcha! I wonder if that’s something I can also switch out using a 4pdt switch… might have to give it another go!
Rippin the tele first thing this morning, sounds awesome Mike. I like the 1.5 circuit as well, very versatile. You out did yourself with the Lineage series, it's got something for everyone. Keep'um coming, loving content and the pedals!
Thanks! I’ve got more models coming this year AND more interesting content I hope!
Sounds lazing Mike ! ⚡️
Nice! The pedal I sometimes place before my Seeker Bender MK1 is based on the Kay Fuzz. It gives me some mushy-ness and octave overtones, and then the MK1 imparts all of its oomf and punch. Both are fairly gated so it never spins out of control. Keep up the great demos!
Thanks! That sounds pretty epic!
Oh boy!! Pure perfection to my ears!
MkI into Super was evil, gotta try that
Tons of overtones!
Eieeee holy smokes
Thank you! Very cool opportunity to understand a bit more about how these things operate. One thing worth mentioning is how great your MK1 pedals can stack with other fuzzes (or vice versa). I run a pretty aggressive octave fuzz into it sometimes, and setting the MK1 to gate at just the right place allows it to take a lot of rage on the front end without resulting in uncontrollable feedback the minute I stop playing.
I think you’ll dig next weeks video then!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. One of these days I’ll attempt to build a mkI, and I’ll definitely come back to this video…
Thank you very much for this! I think I'll keep my Descry, it can do the best of both worlds, absolutely.
❤❤❤
Oh! Your explanations of those 3 circuits are a mine of gold I must say! I never think the tonal palette of those first mk1 were so intense. Even their volume pot affect the tone(assez incroyable). Are they built with the same transistors? Even the Descry can be very similar if not completely the same regarding the tonal qualities and even the "artefacts" are present at the start of note's decay(Anthony Macari) in TPS episode. Very impressive video!
The transistors are a little different in each but they all were chosen to get the most out of each pedals circuit and give a consistent quality in the range of tones. Glad you liked the video!
Pure gold
Thanks you Mike, What a great video to enjoy while having my morning coffee and noodling. Man they all sound so good! 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼
Thanks! I have a hard time choosing one but Descry is so useful in a board to get lots of MKI tones and more.
Sounds great. Super useful and few know about them.
Great! System tuned?
This one is Sola tuned, sorry I forgot to mention!
Tonebenders are my favorite flavor of fuzz and this one sounds AMAZING. Don’t know how I’m just seeing it! Bravo 👏
Thanks! Been making them for a while but starting to get more content out there to reach my fuzz people!
Oh boy!
How much Chief?
These ones sold out super quickly but I could always build another that has the same features, and slightly different transistor selection. If you’re interested please email me for pricing! Mike
The face sounds incredible, great clean up!
Thanks!
What transistors are used in this one? Sounds incredible
Not as noticeable in something like a muff except for different gains, but they would be bc549c in this one.
@@SeekerElectricEffects Awesome thanks for the reply. I listened to all of your BigM vids and this one really caught my ears. How close is the Russian to the Ram. That one also struck my fancy
@@asc95 On the Ram the midrange is a bit different (more scoop) stock, but with the extra control it would be adjustable, also higher gain and a bit harder edge to the attack vs the softer pillowy bubble the Russian does so well.
Oups... this gives me the answer of the question asked in the zonk/mk1 video you made.🤘
Nice sound both Zonk and MK1! Is it possible to tune them a bit less gated at full Attack? The gated effect could be ajustable at 50-75% on the Attack knob. Just asking otherwise, they sound fantastic to me!
It is possible but imo they will lose part of what makes them special, the pinch on the attack. Without that it sounds and more importantly feels a little more generic. However that’s just my opinion, I am able to tune to the customers preference if asked to do so.
Damn, this sounds so good
The Brit spec has that spitty chaotic mess that makes the original Zonks so amazing. Still waiting for someone to do a Shatterbox!
The reason you won’t see many Shatterbox clones, they don’t nearly as nice as a Zonk or MKI! But there are a few out there..? Not sure how modded but check out Blammo’s “Shadderbox”.
That sounds epic!
Triclops Fuzz Faces look rad.
Something a bit different! Definitely more control over textures and a cool look!
This was super interesting. Love how both of them sound though.
Nice tones! Do you screen print your designs onto the enclosure?
The enclosures for the Lineage and Signature Series pedals are built up for me by F5 Metalworks, that includes drilling/machining, powdercoating and printing. I’m not 100% sure the process for printing but I know it’s not screen printed.
@@SeekerElectricEffects Awesome. They look really sleek. Also, they all sound pretty much perfected. Wish your pedals were available in Europe. Welp, maybe some day?
@@klemennnn someday VERY SOON, working on a small run for TheseGoToEleven to be dispatched within the next week or two. Mike
I actually kinda like the standard one better. When I think Zonk, I think of a more pointy, gated tone vs a fuller, fatter one. I think the standard is closer to what I’d want out of a Zonk
Really nice job and demo ! For me the British one with the oc72 Is a little more fatter , but they sound With the same identity which is like you said , 5 % but influent percent !! Your quest for circuit and tone make me think that you give us your right knowledge of the sound , thank you
Thank you! I love fuzz tones and I hope it shows in my attempt to share these sounds with the world..!
The British sounds a bit fatter, the standard cuts through more. Just a tweak of the EQ and they would sound the same. Don't know about the feel of course.
I think that’s pretty much my thoughts on it. A lot of the difference can be made more similar using your guitars tone control or an amp adjustment, and while the difference is there, the general character of the fuzz remains the same. There can be a bigger difference with other circuits, more on that later!
@@SeekerElectricEffects They both sound amazing, of course. Great job as always!
Une machine de guerre!!!! Wow!
Sounds phenomenal
That clean up!
Nice shirt! 😄
Yep, it’s a MK I.
Nope, it's an MK1.5, the older, leaky brother of the Fuzz Face
the sound is brutal, great what kind of amp are you using?
Thanks! I’m using a Hiwatt DR20 set fairly clean. You can check out all the details in a video I recently posted. Here’s a link to the amp, it’s epic! britampco.co.uk/hiwatt/shop/details/HW-DR20P5-HD-BLACK.html
Hey Mike. Sounds phenomenal as usual!
Thanks!!
i need both of these easily the best mk1 and zonk on the market love from australia brother.
Thanks!
This is amazing! Thank you
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I buy my CV7007`s from Rays-Tec here in the UK . He has got very popular for selling these , a really nice sounding germanium ....and for a very good price . By the way its really nice of you showing people how to build these sorts of pedals.
I do have more on the way but they do not ship outside the UK.
@@SeekerElectricEffects Thanks for the great video! Shame Rays Tek doesn't ship to Europe...
Very interesting video Thank you for sharing knowledge and your artistry work with us ! In your opinion which of your pedal will be close to a selmer buzz tone ? However I like the way you try to improve circuit and tone
hey, where are you based? do you do international shipping?
I’m in Southern California, yep international shipping is no problem. You can check pricing through website on that, or if you have any questions you can email me though there as well!
