Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra is a historically informed orchestra of inspiring musicians dedicated to performing Classical & Romantic music on period instruments.
Founded under the artistic direction of renowned musician and educator the late Richard Gill, and now led by co-artistic directors Rachael Beesley and Nicole van Bruggen, the orchestra is a dynamic influence on the Australian and international HIP music scene through its twin pillars of performance and education.
Through concert tours, recordings, broadcasts, Young Mannheim Symphonists youth orchestra programs, community workshops and Voyage of Musical Discover schools education programs, the ensemble's mission is to INSPIRE, EDUCATE and ENLIGHTEN.

The Young Mannheim Symphonists 2024 QLD State Academy, presented by the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra, conducted by Rachael Beesley and co-directed by Rachael Beesley & Nicole van Bruggen, took place from 2-6 April at St Peters Lutheran College.
The 2024 QLD State Academy culminated in this concert in which the Young Mannheim Symphonists performed the repertoire they had prepared throughout the week. The concert, performed in front of a live audience at St Peters Lutheran College was conducted by Rachael Beesley and included works by Beethoven, Mozart and André. The energy on stage was palpable and the orchestra played with vigour, passion and intensity, bringing the knowledge and insights they had gained from the historically informed workshops and rehearsals to life.
Musicians from the orchestra introduced the pieces with passion and conviction and the audience was overwhelmed by the level these students achieved in just five days of rehearsals. Attended by leading educators, teachers, friends and families, the young musicians were inspired to perform at their best.

Beautifully done! Can you tell me which version you were using on this? There are at least 3 that I am aware of, and one is a "dectet", not the nonet you are using, which was Brahms' original version (which sadly he destroyed). Thank you so much. I really enjoyed this.
Thank you for your message, @BCCM152. We're glad you enjoyed it! For this performance we made our own arrangement based on Brahms' original nonet instrumentation.
At the time this music was composed (1850s) it was extravagant and quirky, as it coexisted with the music of Handel, JS Bach, Telemann or Vivaldi, breaking the serious baroque contrapuntal "schemes"...

Who made this arrangement? I thought the original nonet version was lost?
It is indeed currently lost. There are at least two reconstructions though: Jorge Rotter, and Chris Nex have both done reconstructions. Very frustrating that they've not said which this is, but I would guess the Rotter version.

A quite creditable rendition, with no intrusive blaring trumpets or booming timpani as in many other pretentious attempts (Furtwangler, Kleiber, Muti to name a few). Everything nicely muted and I liked the stand-up performance with some dance-like moves for emphasis at the right times. The MASTER would've been thrilled!
So utterly beautiful! I just love the abruptness of certain emphasis---AND NO CONDUCTER! Sad that today we are in a world where they would shut every event like this down.
