In this video, I give my thoughts on the New Miniatures Generic 4-Wheel Coaches (V2) from Shapeways. This is kind of an experimental video for me. This is my first video with music and my first experience with 3D printed anything. I also played around with a few different camera angles to show you my work. This "off to the side/over the shoulder" method is the best I've found so far, but I'm st...

Um actually Thomas dose have a irl basis
Can you link the tawvalleyrailway_ngauge channel? I can’t seem to find it
I have a 57xx and it's one of my very best locos! It is both my smoothest and most reliable loco! I do run DCC though, so that may be the difference. It doesn't like being on a blanking chip on my analogue Hornby controller though, it tends to pulse somewhat, as does my J94 I just got. But with a 6 pin decoder fitted, both are flawless. I have no issues with the cab removal at all I can change the chip in a few seconds, and the hand rails I find easy enough to pop in. But as you say milage may vary!
I bought the Manchester Ship Canal version a couple of weeks ago, I've not run it yet but the finish looks really good.
Greetings, very nice🚂🌟👍
Well done and thanks. Regards Terry
She’s certainly pretty, pity about the decal, but she does run well.. Thanks for the review
But Y? Another top video man! Really getting me interested in N gauge - James
Great review there - helpful with my possible return to N
Once again a top class review old boy. Well done and well executed 😊
I really enjoyed this review! As a fellow American, I just bought a Graham Farish set in n scale, and I'm quite excited to get it next week. I'm really glad to have your channel around as it helps me determine what I should get and steer clear from. Have a nice day!
Concise and neat. Well done Dan
Great run through bud! Love the close ups!
Thanks a bunch!
Hi, Thank You for the review Dan. I have been considering one myself, and it was good to see the review on Kato track/turnouts which is what I have. I agree with you on Rails of Sheffield and their quick shipping. I just received my first order from them last week. I too am in the US, and cannot Thank them enough, and I just placed another order Sunday. Cheers!
I really enjoy your channel! I hope that you can review some BR MK1 coaches in the future as I’m a fellow American looking to follow in what you’ve done in terms of British n gauge. I’m looking to pick up a Graham Farish western rambler set. This would give me my first British n scale locomotive and rolling stock. Plus, I want the rolling stock and engine. Have a nice day!
Wow! Great video Dan! I tell you what, I'm staggered at how smooth that crawl was! I agree with you that Toby is a tad shiny, but to be fair, it is what it is! Thank you for sharing!
Great review Dan! Being a closet TTTE fan it's nice to see some good rep :) Looking forward to your views on Gordon and Emily. Also, cheers for the shout-out!
"Some random CGI character I've never heard of" is my exact reaction to Bachmann's recent HO announcements XD Really loving these reviews, both of the Thomas range and real engines.
Another great video, looking forward to that collaboration channel!
Another brilliant review Dan, particularly pleased to see bachmann not cutting corners on the moving gear. Great video again man.
Fantastic video. If I remember rightly one of the last Thomas Tuesdays of last year November I think it was Doug Blaine said that N scale Gordon has a production run date of May. So hopefully may they start making and June or July we get to get Gordon
Looking to get back into the hobby and I want to do N gauge for the size compared to HO. Glad to see they make Thomas products for N as I always wanted to have a Sodor theme. Great review of Percy by Bachmann and appreciate pointing out the price disparity of the manufacturer from a third party retailer!
Really enjoyed your video, well done! Subscribed and looking forward to more!
Fantastic video my friend, really like it! Love your collection of GWR locomotives for someone who's American, I subscribed!
Stellar review Dan, thoroughly enjoyed it, keep up the amazing work here bud, enjoy these very bite sized reviews. Concise, clean and easily digestible.
All with your help, my friend. 🙏
Another great video! At this point I think you're setting the standard for N scale reviews. I don't know of anything you could be doing better. Not sure I can do much of value in my own reviews now 😂 Keep it up!
Thank you for the kind words. I hope to do some stuff with DCC in the future. Outside of that, I'm not sure what else people want to see during a locomotive review. 🤷🏼♂️
@@NGaugeUSA Always happy to support a fellow Dan!
A great concise review, I've just ordered one of these locos too. Regards Terry (a U.K. modeller)
You're doing very weĺl; keep up the good work! Brits I know speak of the interesting pronunciations of some British place names. Your friend James' channel might not be GO-spoet if it's named for the town. Gosport (/ˈɡɒspɔːrt/ GOS-port) is a town and non-metropolitan borough, on the south coast of Hampshire, South East England. There's a place named Towcester that's pronounced TOASTER.
Great review there Dan! It honestly looks like a pretty good all rounder for such a good price! And of course that Longmoor blue is absolutely stunning! Keep up the good work!
As another guy named Dan getting ready to start an N gauge channel, gotta say I love these videos
Well, this was unexpected, what a great review and what a stunning little J94 🙌 good job Dan. Top class
Wonderful review mate! Nicely done.
my rapido 16in hunslut from rail's of sheffield coming in this weekend for me it take's 2 week's to get where i live
Love the update, excited to see whats next for the channel!
Awesome, thank you!
A lovely kit and I think you used the right colours. It's a kit that anybody can do even if you are short of talent in creating things. You are right about Peco. I find them too light and the wheels low quality. The answer is to add more weight and get some Farish wheels. That seems to be the common answer. I bought some Peco GWR trucks and they were awful for derailing forwards and backwards.
I like how Newman is on that awesome poster in the background while you're talking about something from Newman
A bit of blue tack should hold them down while you’re spray painting 😉
These are so cool Dan! Really enjoyed the little build and narration over it 😎 this honestly came out super well. Good job bro 👊
As an American who is entering N scale 1/160* I do want some “British” equipment that I will be modifying to be for mostly Northern Irish Locomotives, I love your content so far though
That's why I'm here! Hopefully, I can save you from making some of the mistakes I made. Are there any N gauge models in particular you've been looking at? I can't promise I'll buy it and review right away, but I can put it on my list.
Kato track is much higher quality than Peco. The Kato is 100% reliable. Although it is commonly available in the uk, the problem is that its expensive here. Over here, Dapol trainsets come supplied with Kato track. I have used it for years, and found it to be great.
Dan, you’re an undiscovered gem in the world of model railways 👌 and it’s going to kick off so well for you, the amount of time, consideration and thought you put into every video is truly amazing. I could take a lot of leaves from your book. Thank you, my friend, for a very sincere and kind shoutout, I was incredibly moved. I cannot wait to see your channel grow from strength to strength 😎
The Monday Club also encourages CZcamsrs growing their channels.
I'll give them a look and see what's what. Thanks for the advice.
"The Monday Club" is a railway modelling club that began at the beginning of the pandemic. A super-majority of participants model British outline. The "Cupboard Monkey" acts as producer and models N Gauge. They also welcome sharing videos.

Gordon was an A0 at the beginning. He was meant to be the prototype for the A1s, and then he eventually got the A3 upgrades like the other A1s… according to the lore. That’s why you’ve seen people mention him as an A1 sometimes and an A3 other times. :)
Thank you for the clarification! I'll include that in my Gordon review, assuming Bachmann ever actually releases him.
@@NGaugeUSA happy to share. If the Gordon does ever get a release, I’ll have to check out your review. ;)
False. It was never mentioned that Gordon was an A0. A0s was a term made up by Sparkshot/Knuckles
Toys that tie in with a movie or tv show tend to be poor. Talking of wheel spacings. I've just sent back a Dapol Manor Class to Osborns. It ran very badly and wouldn't go round corners. I didn't need to check the wheel spacings to know they were too wide. Derailed even at very slow speed.
I'd definitely recommend checking the wheel spacing on any Dapol locomotives. Their wheels pop on and off the axles. When I took apart one of my 57XXs to clean it, it was derailing a lot after I reassembled it. Turns out I had pressed the wheels back just a little too hard. With some gentle pressure, I was able to get them all back where they needed to be.
@@NGaugeUSA I'm not happy with Dapol now. That's down to quality control, checking it before it leaves the factory. Plus their spares situation is not good.
@ngaugeonashelf4417 if you don't get anywhere with Osborns, I can't recommend @dccsupplies enough. They might have some Manor parts for sale. Last I looked, they had a whole Manor class available in their spares and repairs section. Failing that they also do warranty (specifically for Dapol) and non-warranty work. I've always been happy with their service.
@@NGaugeUSA Thankyou. I will wait to hear from Osbournes. No, I'm going to chase them this afternoon. I think I'm going to stick to buying from my local model shop, will be far easier to deal with sales, returns and just simple advice.
Hey Dan, great video! Love your use of the green screen! 😎 looked super professional! Great review, I must say I’ve not ever thought of collecting the Thomas stuff but perhaps this is the scale to do it in 🤔 Keep up the great work man!
Thanks, Hylton, it means a lot. I'm not sure how much I'll use the green screen in the future. It almost tripled my editor's processing time, and my phone got warm to the touch 😅 Make sure to check out my February Recap video. I'll mention you in the Thank You section towards the end. It's been great talking to you and comparing notes. See you back on Instagram 😁
Great vid Dan, just wanted to ask, why GWR? A very niche choice for a US based reviewer :P Think it's cool!
Yeah, I'll probably do a separate video on just this topic. I've gotten this question a few times on Instagram and CZcams.
Hey, great review, think you nailed all aspects of it, I really appreciated the fact that you ran incline and point tests. Great job! A shame about the burnout :/ Looking forward to more. Cheers, Hylt
Good to see more n gauge channels. All the best!
