Spray vs Wipe | UV Clear Coat | Headlight Restoration #applicator | Battle of the Clear Coats
We compare Sylvania UV Clear Coat and Meguire's Spray On UV Clear Coat for headlight restoration. We consider the consequences of mistakes, thickness of layers applied, clarity, waste, cost, and the ease of making mistakes. I recommend wipe on based on my personal experience. I'm excited to hear what you have to think about it in the comments below.

i agree for minimal work wipe on is the best but i still think for best results sanding clear coat and polish and/or compound/polish depending on your quality of clear coat
Thanks for commenting. I call the sanding, polishing “prep work” and it was the same for spray on and wipe on. This video is about the differences in the final step of applying UV clear coat, after all of the sanding and polishing, for both, wipe on and spray on.

Where is the link to buy this camera?
I bought it on AliExpress. I can't fully recommend it because the holes were advertised to fit and they didn't. I don't *not* recommend it, but I can't fully endorse it here.
i am assuming the camera is only powered with the lights are powered right?
No, the power comes from the head unit. The head unit controls when the rear camera is powered. You can have a head unit that turns on the rear camera when it wants.
how do you remove just the center console lid?
8 torx screws at the bottom of the lid and a catch pin Steps 26, 27 here www.macarbon.com/install_guides/Porsche/997/997%20CF%20Center%20Console%20Install%20Instructions.pdf

Great video, helped a lot, however can you advise. I've followed all steps but my new head unit doesn't seem to go anywhere near as loud as the old PCM? I've tried the max volume tip before new unit installation but still the same. I can turn the volume up to max 35/36 clicks and it's only what I would call moderately loud but no where near the punch of the PCM2.1. Do you have any idea, how loud is yours on max volume? Thanks

There are subtle spec requirement differences for the automatic transmission and transfer case in terms of fluid, but the ATF should meet both those specs in the transmission and transfer case. The MAF unit in a 2016 Cayenne does not have the torx screws which allow remove of the sensor. Seems you must replace the entire unit… msrp 244 usd
oof. Good to know / be fore-warned about the Porsche tax. 🙏 MAF is one of the few things you don’t want to skimp on, should buy OEM instead of aftermarket because aftermarket are rarely as accurate and lead to problems.
@@RuslanVideoFilms I think there may be a defect in the MAF units used in the 2016 Cayennes for US. When misfiring begins and auto start stop disables itself, I get a check engine light. After codes are cleared the issue goes away completely for about 6 months. Porsche service has never suggested replacing the MAF, even though codes state MAF issue.

Yes, this video is about how to get around the issue and continue using your vehicle. You can always replace the seat belt after making the seats usable again.
@@RuslanVideoFilms update, for whatever reason, unbolting the bottom bolt allowed me to reset the seatbelt, and it works perfectly now! (I bolted it back in after it unlocked)
My cayenne has a water leak from passagenger side A pillar and front middle roof console. How can i fix this? If there is a solution you can know.😊
Sounds like two leaks: failed sunroof seal, which is causing the overhead console leak, and clogged up sunroof drains, which is causing the a pillar leak. I would confirm by watering the cayenne in different spots and seeing where /when the water starts coming in.

*ALTERNATIVE FILL METHODS* [1] "However after now refilling for the 3rd time to get the performance and smoothness back into the transmission, without any banging as it changes gear and obtaining directly from Porsche their filling procedure, the following method is the way to go. After driving around to get the tranny oil warm. Drive onto a ramp or trolley Jack up and switch off the engine. Drain the fluid. Do up the drain bolt, undo the filler bolt, having loosened this before drainage!!!!! Fill the tranny until the fluid comes out. Get a friend to apply the foot brake, keep the footbrake on throughout the whole procedure if jacked up !! hand brake still on and start the car. The wheels need not to be turning so apply the hand brake and foot brake. Go from park reverse, neutral, drive over to D1 AND THEN D2 and then back through the box to Park. Keep the engine on and have a friend sit in the drivers seat, foot brake on !!!! The car still in Park and on tick over/idle. Fill the tranny some more until it pours out, DO NOT TOUCH THE GEARS !!! LEAVE IN PARK THE WHOLE TIME !!! Raise the transmission temperature to 40 degrees, some oil but not much at all will come out, so have a bowl underneath. No more filling will be required during this procedure. Put the bolt back in. JOB DONE. Don't do this any other way or you will lose overall performance from the engine via the transmission. The difference is huge ! Thanks for reading Jason L-S" [2] "Once the sump cover has been re-installed, remove the fill port cover and use a fluid pump to do the initial fill of three to four liters. Start the engine and let it idle. Keep adding fluid to the transmission until it starts to pour out of the fill hole. Keep in mind that once you start the engine, it will circulate fluid. If you need to turn the engine off for any reason, re-fit the fill plug until you can continue the procedure. Move the gear selector from park to drive, pausing for five seconds and then move it to reverse. Let the engine idle during this procedure. A nice one again! I actually have a similar (not exact) issue. For some reason the right headlight washer activates "automatically" (I can see residual fluid after I drive time to time), then I got washer fluid low warning even though I have not used it. I filled to the top, never used it, then get the warning light again - nothing on the garage floor. May be it slowly dripped on to the plastic undercover (I have not checked). Or may be the infamous sensor....any thoughts?
Good morning, if there's no puddle then the sensor sounds like it could be a culprit. Reasoning: You said there's no puddle, there would have to be a puddle if there was a real leak. First thing I would do is pull the wheel liner and see if the fluid is above the sensor line. 🫡
Also sounds like it might be a leaky washer? (obvs : ) )

What are the pros and cons of upgrading to the Numeric Racing cables? Are you happy with the ones you used? Can you share a link? Thanks!!!
Absolutely! They feel notchy at first but loosen up over time and feel super reliable. (gm!) Here's the link: flat6motorsports.com/products/numeric-racing-performance-shifter-cables-987-cayman-boxster
Have you got a link to the stretchy hose tape please 🙏
Self-Fusing Tape amzn.to/47bCfdS :)
😮
Do you have a famous Duke basketball video in the Brown dorm?? Is that you ??
Hey @@RuslanVideoFilms !! Long time no see 😁 Sorry about your car, hope you are able to fix it!
Hostía !!
I know!
what type and brand of sealer do you used?
Generic brand of butyl sealant tape. (In a good way) don’t need to get fancy with it. It’s linked in the description under the chapter 🫡
@@RuslanVideoFilmsthank you :)
@@RuslanVideoFilms Did you ever change the right hydraulic strut ? and maybe you know location of strut fluid tank? my right strut has bad leak and I don’t know how to replace it
Greate video! Do you know if this method will apply to the 2008 GTS? Also… where did you purchase the catalytic converter?
Davico brand, purchased from CarParts.com. I’m not sure if there’s enough space to do this on the V8, you will most likely have to do everything from below. Here’s a 10% off CarParts code, expires 10/01, in case you end up using the site (I got it in the email after buying mine): EMSD003L44JOC9V
Thanks for sharing! I have the same problem in the same spot on my door. Going to get the brackets today.
My pleasure. Good luck 🫡
@@RuslanVideoFilms Thanks once again. It worked perfectly!
Awesome work done!! btw, how did you add the ipod/aux board?
Was a factory option when I purchased the car
Didn’t have it on mine but I am curious what the remaining box next to your DVD is?
Emissions related component - non removable. I was curious about that too and googled it :)
Ill let you know
please do
Also, what other fixes / maintenance / upgrades would you recommend doing at the same time (since you are already accessing the engine bay & underneath rear-end)? 2006 987
honestly, there aren’t any pressing maintenance items. The air oil separator can be accessed from the top if you haven’t done that recently. That’s the biggest one. while the top is off, you can basically do anything else like maintaining the throttle body, but that’s a whole separate procedure.
@@RuslanVideoFilms Thanks! I didn't think about the throttle body - good tip! I haven't done the air oil separator yet. I thought that might be a good project to conquer at the same time! Luckly, I haven't had any major signs that the AOS is going out - but, while I'm there.... The shifting is pretty glitchy. I already changed transmission box fluid and realigned the shifter cables - but they had little effect. I'm hoping replacing the shifter cables will do the trick!
@@jeromenelson5280 Best of luck! Share please how it goes!
