I happened to be looking up something else of Betty's and found this two-part oral history interview of Cousin Betty. I watched both parts in its entirety in one sitting. I was very impressed! The interview was particularly fascinating, not only because she is my cousin, but though I already knew some of her professional background, this oral history fills in so much more. The interview process came so naturally to her, was well spoken, an interesting story teller, and even some of her personal family background subtly comes through. I'm proud to be able to call her my cousin.

Dale - It was a wonderful experience to hear from the doyen of the Blast Furnace and the experiences that shaped Dale Heinz - Man of Steel. I was lucky to have your association during my professional career but knew very little about your journey to achieve such greatness. Your quote about blast furnace reverberates through my mind that it fascinates you how dirt taken out of the earth turns into hot liquid metal that floats like water. It is incredible that it simulates the rocks undergoing melting in a subduction zone and erupting like lava from a volcano. You and Debbie look like they never aged! Thank you for your invaluable contributions to the steel industry and guiding young engineers to successful careers.

The interview was very Interesting and enlightening. As his niece I knew some of his job but found out so much more. The one point I disagree with his book The Elephphant's Grip I found the mining very Interesting. However in fairness I live in the Appalachian mining region and my husband's family were miners. So maybe I didn't any problem with the terminology. Once again I enjoyed the interview.
