I’m thinking of my advice to my 20 year self. So therapeutic.

My whole life all I ever wanted was to retire, sit in a rocking chair on my porch and drink tea. Dream fulfilled! 😂 My big dream was to move to Anaheim, California and go to Disneyland every day. Now that I could easily make that happen, I’m no longer interested in it. I guess I don’t need the escape anymore 😅

I was also 52 when I stepped away from my job and I’m 54 now and guess what? I’m not going on daily walks, I’m not doing yoga 3 times a week, I have not started that children’s book I wanted to write and I’m for sure not preparing well planned out and nourishing meals. What I have done is been consistent as a creator on YT. I’ve cultivated relationships, made new friends, attended a weekly MORNING Bible study. I manage to drink a nice hot cup of coffee each day. I think you answered my why in that quote. I wonder if there is major truth to that! I’ll think about it a bit deeper because doing yoga is really something “I thought”. Wanted to do. Question? Do your days go by so fast you can’t even believe it?

So true! Being retired doesn’t prevent me from procrastinating. Great advice. I keep avoiding to „peel the onion back.“ ❤Betty

That was the most spot-on video of the experience of moving to Mexico that I have seen to date. It was articulate and poetic. I am in my late 60s and immigrated to Mexico three months ago. While it has taken a little bit of time and patience to rewire my brain and change my pace of life/priorities, the payoff is so very worth it! I now have the life I have always dreamt of having but one that I could never have realized living in the US. Would it be too impertinent to ask why you moved back to the US?

I can relate to your list. After I retired, I discovered I also bought groceries every week out of habit. Now I just buy what I need vs. stockpiling so I don't run out during the crazy busy work week.

Mexico is now more expensive than the United States And the new government is very scary now. Things have changed. We're moving back to the United States after 10years.

Lord have mercy do I hate those plastic water bottles. They come into our house by others but NOT me. It's almost a pet peeve of mine. We have a Berky. I also laugh at jokes like that (lol) We invest in the bird food too. It's a must but we can make our own humming bird juice:). I can watch those darn birds all day. Great lighting in this video and this video looks really nice and natural. I love when you started to crack up too. Not that your asking but I just like to tell you things I see that look amazing.

It's crazy how much money we used to spend without really giving it much thought and for convenience. We have cut down on so much of our frivolous spending now that we're retired and have more time. Dining out still gets us when we're traveling but we put it in the category of life experiences. 😂

Great video. We totally agree with your top 5 retirement myths. We love being retired so much and we're grateful everyday for being in this position. We have so many places we want to explore and enjoy spending quality time with family who are spread out across the country! People have commented that we will go nuts spending so much time together after retirement but we've actually grown closer together.

My wife says to buy camphor cubes and put them around the house to keep the scorpions out. She also said to plant herbs around the house and the scorpions stay away.

You express yourself so well. I relate to all of this. I’m glad you found Mexico.

So many takeaways from this video. Thank you for sharing your personal journey and what you learned. I struggle with getting rid of my “stuff” even after downsizing two years ago. It’s true, the small number of things I use and need could be even smaller and I do feel tethered to all of it. Letting more things go would be so freeing and would allow for the flexibility I seek. Agai, thank you and I am so glad you are well.

My story is somewhat the same . I moved to Mexico in 1995 at age 48. I spoke no Spanish and knew absolutely nothing about the country. I had been seriously injured in a construction accident in Alaska and was definitely a hurting unit. A fifteen year relationship had ended and thanks to modern medicine at that time, I was strung out on Oxycodone. I left the pills in the U.S. and landed in Mexico City. I spent the first ten days or so laying up in a hotel more dopesick than you could ever imagine. The staff there were wonderful . They went out their way . They brought me caldo de pollo, chicken soup ,everyday , a couple times a day even though it was almost a week before I could hold it down. To make a long story short it's been almost thirty years and I'm still here. I have traveled extensively through out Central America and have found there is no better option for me anywhere other than right here in Mexico. I've been married now almost twenty five years to a wonderful Mexican woman and Ilive a life second to none. I wouldn.t have it any other way. My advice is if you a think about leaving the U.S., do it.

Make same lifestyle changes....but no need to move.

Beautiful story music was very confusing, to concentrate on the story, it over powered yr voice at times. Next, may I suggest using the sound of waves which features in Video. love the story, Sayulito MX, has been on my todo visit list since family members began wintering in Bucias/La Cruz area.
