Thanks! Yeah, I like Assen, it's a nice fast track with a good rhythm. Hard to tell about the CR-S as that's basically the first event of them, and I'm still finding my baseline for suspension settings in general and for this track specifically. It's definitely more grippy than my Goodyear F1 Supersport, but I think they start loosing some grip after 2-3 laps of pushing. That was a quite warm sunny day though with a hot asphalt.

I've never driven rx8 on the track unfortunately, so it's a bit hard to compare. However, my general impression is that rx8 is probably more stable while it has grip, but when it goes, it's harder to catch it. So I'd say Z4 is probably easier to drive, but I'd love to drive on RX8 on the track to compare.

Thanks! For the Intrax, it's hard to tell yet. It's obviously better than my previous ST X, but I'm yet to learn how to set it up. It has 40 settings in the front and 20 in the back, "0" being the hardest. The baseline setting is -18/-4 front/rear. Though they've admitted they've probably missed "-1" for the rear in the document :) With the baseline setting it drifts in every corner. For the next stint I set rear to -6 and got a bit faster. For the 3rd stint I made rear a bit more softer to -8 and also got a bit faster. I think it's still not optimal settings, though even like that I was more than a second faster than with ST X. I think (and hope :) ) I'll be faster once I find settings that give enough confidence to go full throttle to Shievlak. I don't recall if I've visited the Nordschleife with the new diff, though I only have 25 laps of experience, gearing is surely not the thing that slows me down there, so hard to comment on that yet.

Sounds good, thanks for the detailed answer. Do you know your spring rates? For the diff I'm still undecided between 3.64 and 3.73.

@@gogaskrank it's 14kg front / 7.5kg rear (true coilover setup). At this point I'm not sure what's the optimal gearing for this car even for Zandvoort. With the current gearing and 7450 redline I get uncomfortably close to the readline in the 3rd gear in some turns (e.g. the first right after pitlane exit). On the other hand, I plan to switch over to semi-slicks on 17" wheels, which will probably result in higher speeds, so I'll have to upshift to 4th anyways. Also, with 17" tires I can go with 235/45/17 to keep the same diameter, or can go with 235/40/17 which would make the effective gear rate even shorter. And once I pass the point where I must upshift to 4th, maybe I can go with even more shorter diff that will probably save me some downshifts from 4th to 3rd in faster corners? Don't know yet.

I haven't yet tried NS2R in cold or wet on track yet, though I don't really plan doing that unless the weather forecast fails on me. On the road it feels less grippy in wet, even on the low power Swift (easy to trigger abs or wheel spin even on 2nd gear without clutching). Yes, it's indeed quite noisy, esp. on speeds > 75-80 km/h. It also feels somewhat harsh for road use, like it's overinflated.

No, pilot sport time is 2:18.0, and ns2-r time is 2:18,6 so ns2-r is slower. Recently I was able to do 2:17.6 on ns-2r, but that was with better brake pads.

@@bogdanmarin39 well, I don't know. NS2R is an entry level semi-slick though. Maybe AR1 will be much better.

Ik vind CL beter dan EBC Yellowstuff. Beter gevoel/modulation en ook duurt langer. Ik denk dat zowel RC5+ als RC6 wat opwarmtijd nodig hebben. Misschien is Bluestuff beter, maar er is geen Bluestuff voor dit Swift model.

Heh, eigenlijk heb ik ook een bmw z4 met 265 pk, die iets sneller is :) maar er zijn veel dingen te leren en te verbeteren zelfs met een Swift. Sneller worden door het vermogen van de auto is niet zo interessant, denk ik.

Yeah, track is definitely more fun. Swift from factory has only the front stabilisator, I didn't change anything there.

Max coolant temp is 104-105, dat is niet zo slecht denk ik. BMW wordt veel warmer :(

at about 20s into the video you see the Smart turning in and instead of breaking, the Swift accelerates. sry to say but he kindof has himself to blame here.

ja, natuurlijk!

Je vraagt namelijk best veel van de auto, het kan een stuk soepeler waardoor je meer momentum rijd en dus harder bocht uit komt en misschien zelfs in. Gerlachbocht lag nu poeder voor olie maar die mag je later insturen zodat de hoek van sturen dus minder word, je mag dan ook meer in het midden uitkomen en meer vanuit midden rechts de hugenholtzbocht induiken (nog iets meer links van LAP 3/lap4 zat je eigenlijk goed maar ging je heel erg in het midden rijden, had hem hoger kunnen pakken) gedeelte Hunserug hoef je niet te liften kan volgas. Scheivlak zit je eigenlijk elke ronde te vroeg bij de apex, die mag je iets later insturen en later bij de apex uit komen, nu knijp je het eerste stuk van de bocht af wat veel van je banden vraagt en momentum verliest naar het einde van de bocht, eigenlijk moet je dus later insturen latere apex want kan je eerder op het gas en kom je verderweg bij de apex uit De Mastersbocht mag je iedere keer meer links zitten, nu knijp je eigenlijk net zoals bij het scheivlak de het eerste gedeelte af, moet je meer blijven sturen… dat wil je eigenlijk niet, kun je later op het gas, je bent dan laat in de bocht nog teveel aan het sturen, vraagt veel van de banden . Bocht 9 doe je in principe goed maar zou hem meer naar buiten kunnen laten lopen. Bocht 10 is echt een moeilijke maar je kan hem later insturen dat je eigenlijk naar de marshall post bij de oranje barrier uitkomt aan de rechter kant. Hans ernst eerste gedeelte mag je iets meer in het midden uitkomen, eigenlijk offer je de eerste op dat je de tweede dus minder diep in hoeft te sturen waardoor je dus sneller stuur kan openen en dus vol gas kan geven. Met zon kleine “slome” auto is het heel gaaf om te perfectioneren en dan leer je dus eigenlijk het meeste! Ik heb het zelf geleerd in een twingo rs. Zijn tips geen commentaar, vrij rijden is voor plezier! Basis is zeker goed! Maar het is leuk om de auto optimaal te benutten en dus meer van je banden etc te kunnen genieten/en meer te kunnen rijden.

Thanks! With this power I can go full throttle in many places, and also can open fairly early at the corner exit (which I think I'm doing fairly late currently). The tricky thing is that if somebody won't let me go, e.g. like on 10:55, it's very tricky to overtake them off the racing line, and most of the times even harder on the straight.

@@tinuse3670 Ik vind het erg moeilijk om rempunten te vinden op een nat baan. De ene keer rem ik en is het te vroeg, de andere keer rem ik bijna op dezelfde plek en glij ik weg van de apex. Heel lastig. Ik denk dat ik meer en meer oefening nodig heb.

@@rotary_64ja die rem punten zijn ook best lastig. Gebruik de baan markering langs de baan. Bij voorbeeld aan het einde van het rechte stuk: probeer te oefenen met remmen ten opzichte van de 100 meter aanduiding. Die vind ik fijn om mee te oefenen. Ga jij er komend seizoen ook veel zijn ? Eventueel schiet ik je wel ff aan als ik je op de paddock zie met je z4

Thanks! That gear stick is the IRP short shifter. Other mods are the ST X suspension (which I don't quite like, but bought a car with it on), camber plates with increased camber (-2.2 for when this video was filmed), Os Giken LSD with 3.73 final drive, and a pair of wiechers strut braces (front and back), that is it. I like Z4, don't plan changing it in the near future. Not extremely powerful, but still has a lot of potential and seems to be a good car to learn how to drive an rwd car on a track. Other option to consider is E81/E87 130i which are cheaper than Z4 coupes (and probably n52 roadsters too), and appear to have a better aftermarket support.

@@rotary_64 i saw you've drifting skills. If you brake a bit later and risk to dance a little with you're ass in case. Than you go way faster. How many pk does the z4 have? You remember the passat? 192pk on the wheel!But the Bilstein suspension and the tires are helping to brake later and control the long car very well. But I very like that you drive with you're mind too. In one session there was a blue passat or golf variant in front of you. He drives.... Not with his mind.... I hope to meet you again of the track. I can't race that year again. Next year with new brakes. 💪🏼

@@r.b9333 yeah, I know there are plenty of places where I brake waaay earlier, need to practice that more. I'm surprised the passat has only 192pk, I thought it's more powerful :) it's fast. That was a golf variant vr5 I think. It was in Assen and I was on Suzuki Swift, I guess it'd be a little easier to overtake it if I were with Z4. Yeah, hopefully we can race next year!

@@rotary_64 more people came and asked. Now I've a forge Air intake, performance engine/gearbox mount and torque stick. An Audi TT RS ignition. Steel flex brake lines. But i need another break system and another software for the gearbox. If you watch the 11h tour from assen where we drove. On the straight line I've no chance against you guys. But in the corners, the setup is performing. I miss the race track.
