    Wonder would it be safe to use if Luas ever goes to Bray

  • @michaelmulligan0
    @michaelmulligan0 Před 2 měsíci

    When there was a plan to bring Luas to Bray around 2007 or so it was to run as you say along the M11 to old Fassaroe (West side of M11) to serve a new development. That new development was basically a new town and wasn’t even at planning stage (when it did go for planning was rejected). They are now seeking planning for it at a small scale. There was to be a branch line into Bray down to the DART station either coming through a Woodbrook or along the Upper Dargle Road. Wicklow County Council have a plan for a “sustainable transport bridge” capable of taking Luas (even though no longer a plan for it to come to Bray and its over a floodplain) parallel to the rail bridge. The plan was to put it on road from there but no way would it get around the corners. Mental plan. They also want to use it for buses, taking them out of the town, again mental

      You beat me to the punch. This is almost a silent film. Patrick would have been a great silent film actor. The Prisoner episode Many Happy Returns is almost completely silent for half of the episode. Mcgoohan says so much with that face of his without any dialogue. However, he does have that magnificent voice and those marvelous dialects.

    My gateway to Ireland was Dun Laoghaire in 1988. Arriving on the Stena Columba (later renamed, Hibernia). I was aware the railway to Carlisle Pier had closed earlier, but despite passing through countless times, I have never seen the cutting nor the remains of the posts that held the level crossing gates. Well done for that. You learn new stuff every day. Did the track join up with the bay platforms at the current station, or elsewhere ? I am indebted to you for your advice. Thanks.

    In their “wisdom” they didn’t align Luas with it! Could have been a route parallel to the M11 skirting Shankill, Bray and even further south and actually taking traffic off the M50/M11/N11

    For non~Dubliners, the 'LUAS' is the tram. Not an acronym as you might expect, it's actually Irish (Gaelic) for 'Speed'. Stupid name, if you ask me; I mean, can you imagine anyone saying "I find the 'Speed' the handiest way of getting in to college in the mornings"... But, Hey! What do I know?! 🙄
