    Oh my! I'm sorry to see the crape myrtle go. 😔But I completely understand. I have or should I say had 2 in my front yard. Every season I fought Japanese beetles, black sooty mold and white flies😫. I just couldn't take it anymore and both of them will be gone before the end of fall. I chopped the smaller one down a few weeks ago.

    Hello Kathy,it's my first "visit" to your garden and if it was dirt before, you really did a great job, love secret gardens and your plants seem to thrive ! One thing about suckers, I don't know if you knew but they tend to "take control" if you leave them be, which means the specific variety you have will tend to disappear and the leaves will be the ones from the rootstock, the red ones you see. It's a matter of choice in the end :) I see you have caladiums, I love them, it' s my first year growing them and I bought the Kathleen variety, nice translucent pink in the center ^^

    I would call your garden a success!! It looks great. If your basil bolts it gets bitter. Also something to remember, if you decide to try tomatoes, always plant basil around them. It keeps the nasty hornworm away.

    Hello from Louisiana! Your garden is growing beautifully. May I offer a bit of advice, please pull your mulch from the house. The slab must be visible, if not you will for sure have an invasion of termites. Those open spaces in your brick is for the house to breathe and if you cover that, it starts to create moisture and next is termites. Good luck and again everything is beautiful.

      I also have my home treated for termites by professional but it still happens to the most protected homes. But, I think it’s worth being cautious anyway.

    What is the purpose of putting mulch ?

    • @Inthegardenwithkathy
      @Inthegardenwithkathy Před měsícem

      Hi there, mulch serves various purposes one of the most important ones is keeping the soil moist. In addition to that, it also suppresses weeds and protects the soil from the sun, therefore retain the nutrients in the soil. Finally, it is aesthetically pleasing for some people. I hope this helps.

It was 2 sets of Mums that I had put out for Thanksgiving, 2 different Lantanas that I had in pots and 2 of my Mandevilla. So glad I waited to see if they would come back. Now I just need to trim them up.

    The Jeep is not dirty enough LMAO j/k... nice Wrangler!! I am looking at getting a Wrangler next. I am a Jeep liberty Girl with a 6" suspension lift and 3" body lift on 32's and a whole new restructured suspension and differentials. Only washed my Jeep 2 times a year 1 after winter and the 2nd mid summer... Fall time I would Coat my Jeep in Mud for the winter so it doesn't get the northern rust body rot for a 20 yr old Jeep she had barely any surface rust being a Michigan Jeep with just under 100k miles on her.
