Roads & Rivers is a documentary travel channel that follows the adventures of Chris as he explores some of the Worlds most stunning and alluring places. Life on the road includes a window into living full time in a van, accessorized by a motorcycle for deeper exploration of the backroads and trails, pack rafting rivers, hiking and camping in the deserts and mountains and conversations with interesting people he meets along the way.

One thing not mentioned about the James Dalton Highway in Alaska is that there is no public access to the Arctic Ocean at the end of the highway through the Alaska North Shore oilfields. Access must be arranged through the various tour operators.

The fires were so close that the road was partially closed. a dozen vehicles were stopped over night in a work yard, with fires in each side. So we partied. lol

I found this video not logged into CZcams on the smart tv so tried searching you from my CZcams account with my iPhon and it goes to Rivers and Roads. So I searched with the name of the Haida Islands video and found your Channel. It’s a good video and the self sufficiency advice is good although not required it can enhance a stay. I visited in 2023 and took my bike and was glad to have that added mobility. I was even asked where I rented the bike . I liked the Mount Moresby shots. Some of it looks recently glaciated. And I like your postcard references
Thank you for your comments and feedback. Searching CZcams and finding my channel is tricky as Im a small fish in a saturated ocean of media. Though I will keep plugging away and hope that in time the searching becomes a little easier. Glad you had a wonderful experience on Haida Gwaii, it is certainly a very special place.
We made the trip to Tuk this past July 15-20th. We were lucky to have 5 days straight of mid 70's and sun weather. Lots of dust, but no wildfires. We also took a swim in the Arctic Ocean. In 2017 we traveled the entire length of the Dalton, wading in the Arctic Ocean on that trip.
You were fortunate to have escaped the wildfire season up there. Just the smoke alone was enough to steal away some of the fantastic scenery, especially around Tombstone. Glad you made both these roads successfully, as they are complimentary but different in so many ways. Both are gorgeous.
I was there August 2/3, and it was 30c. That ocean swim was very welcomed. 🙂

As motorcycle traveler who road from Chicago to Key West to Southern California, AK, south to Colon, Panama, sailboat to Cartagena, then rode to Ushuaia before turning north. Tuk is a dream I will achieve. This is one of the best videos I have watched and reinforces the desire to do it. Thank you!

@@RoadsRivers-CVG the longest you can do is a minute as of now! What I would suggest is to test stuff out! Try 10 second videos, then 30, then a minute. And see what works for you and your audience. Another thing I would suggest is to zoom in you video as much as you can to eliminate some of those black bars.
