What's the part number on the belt tensioner
He is correct you can take the belt off without taking anything off and change it I have done it it is a pain in the ass but you can sneak it through
So did you ruin your turbo or not by taking off ring silencer on turbo?
That ring helps direct the air flow at the turbo inlet on HARD deceleration after building lots of boost into a doughnut shape. This keeps the turbo impeller from being slowed and even reversing in direction as the pressurized air in the intake and inter-cooler tract tries to rush in the wrong direction, past the impeller, and greatly reduces stress on the turbo shaft from the sudden deceleration. No performance gain, no changes to sound when spooling up, and nothing else besides a less harsh "Bark" when you very quickly let off the accelerator pedal while the turbo is spinning very quickly under a mild to heavy load. The internet is full of garbage advice and ideas and no one wants to know or care about the truth.
Like how you didn't show any of the work
Exactly. I came here to watch the work, you know, so I can replicate. . . Can't replicate shit with these videos. Waste of time.
Nice video man!
Great drone footage of the burnouts
Great to see a fellow Northern Nevada RAM owner. Great vid!
You can notice a pretty good difference when it’s under load at least mine did
Straight pipe it
Love Frenchman's...taught my kids to fish there, great lake to teach kids because they can catch fish. So sorry to see the lake now after the fire that swept through the area.
Does removing it do anything bad?
Nope, nothing at all. Some may argue that it changes the air flow, but if it does its a very negligible amount. Some folks also get tired of hearing the turbo while, I personally love it. I guess you could say that it may have a negative impact on your fuel consumption, only because you keep your foot in it to hear the turbo.
This is a really good video, especially the end where you explained burping the system
Thank you! More to come, I am way behind on editing.
What air filter do you have installed?
Factory box, with a deep pleated Wix #49946. Nevada silt/sand keeps me away from the oiled aftermarket. Plus the big wix has very decent flow.
@@NevadaRandom do you have Swiss cheese air box?
NR-- Thanks for the amazing vid with comparison views. Lots of shooting and post-production work, but long time Frenchman fishers like me appreciate it. So sad, but more green trees than I expected to see. BTW, that last shot of the flowing creek... was that Grigsby Spring Creek? Thanks again for your efforts.
I haven't been out there yet and was told by one of my Forest Service friends that it was more of a mosaic burn around the lake but I can see it is much worse than I had imagined. I still need to get out there and see some of the areas near Grigsby, Lookout Creek and Dooley Canyon but from your video I don't think they fared much better. Thanks for sharing this sad end to a beautiful area and you did a wonderful job on the before and after views!
Thanks for the awesome video. I don't think it looks too bad, but will find out tomorrow, unless we decide to go kayaking somewhere else.
You didn’t show fuck all!
Well pard... If you need more info than that you may not want to jump into working on it yourself. You need to start with a shop manual and let videos help the rest of the way... Unless you were looking for "f**k all", in which case I'm flattered but not my style, go ahead and subscribe incase I start an onlyfans with your sister.
@@NevadaRandom maybe you should title the video something else like "look at these new parts and this old part" considering there was no "replacing" in the video.
You did a good job making this video. Thanks for making it
Thank you!
Not really too bad in that area, especially compared to the devastation in parts of the Dixie fire and camp fire areas. Though much of the Dixie fire, too, burned in a mosaic pattern or just thinned out like this.
It really wasn't as bad as I had expected. Hopefully, it won't be the same kind of fire season again this year.
Same face I made when I cranked mine up with a five inch turbo back exhaust
I still get it... especially under overpasses
Good stuff
Thanks man. We need to get the co-lab going!

@@NevadaRandom What are you doing next weekend
Have you looked at the afe torque tube. It’s only like 80 bucks and seems to be the same but hard plastic. I’m just thinking a full silicone s tube might collapse under full load. Probably not but possible. Also 40 or so dollars cheaper. Maybe you can do a review of it?
I pondered getting that one too. But opted for the silicone one. It is thick enough I don't think it could be forced to collapse. Plus, I really liked the silicone's flex insulation between motor/turbo movement and chassis movement since the air-box is hard-mounted. I may consider the AFE if I ever have any issues with the one from Diesel Power Products, but I really don't forsee that, this this is still going strong and looking like new.
@@NevadaRandom thanks for the response.
It shouldn’t collapse unless you have a bunch of restriction, Swiss curse your air box and you should be fine
How many of us have leaned on the air box and felt it snap, lol . Be honest
🙋♂️ lol. But only a small snap (couldn't find what broke)... Mine was already missing some of the tabs on the top. I now stay way away from it, or take it out when I am in there.
Nice video!! What area did you draw? I'm thinking about a pronghorn hunt.
Thank you. I can't give away my spot! But I can say it's definitely worth it! At least start getting points for Horns longer than ears. I have seen plenty of Antelope in 74-75 / 104,108-109, 144 / 143,152,154-155 / 153,156 / and 61-62, 64, 71, 73.
On the road in to the lake there's a campground on the left before you get to Frenchman's Lake. We used to call it Last Chance campground. We camped there alot when I was a kid. Good memories! Can't imagine the fee for one night there now. I last camped there in the 1970s! Good times!
I'll try and see if its still a campground and the prices..
Great video. I was last there in 2007 on a day picnic with my Mom and Dad and 2 other relatives. We had a good time. My Mom is now in Heaven and my Dad has guardians and he's not nearby me. We all loved Frenchman's Lake all our lives. I'll get back there some day!
It is a beautiful spot. I haven't seen it since the fires last summer. Heading up tomorrow to take a look. I'll do some filming and post it. From what I hear it will be many many years until its back to what it was.... which makes me happy to have filmed it when I did.
Posted the video this morning. It's pretty rough up there now. Looked like they are using part of that campground to chip up what they are cutting out
Been up there a few times this winter. Damn near every tree and campground you drove past on the way to fish is destroyed. This place will probably never look the same in my lifetime.
I have been curious on how bad it is. I am going up tomorrow to take a look. Ill have the video up in a few days. Sad that fire took everything out....
What type of coolant do you use and what all did you actually replace?
Zerex Go5 50/50 premix. They require a HOAT (Hybrid Organic Acid Technology) coolant. I replaced the tensioner assembly, idler pulley, water pump and belt.
Awesome video brother! Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks man!
What tunes are you running

Get the trans done first! Nothing like spending money to get rolling only to be forced to a stop and having to spend more money. At least the trans will be ready when you have more available power at your foot.
I couldn't agree more! Going to have to divert a bit at the front end. She has developed the ole death wobble!
Video reminds me of back in the day with carbs, if you see just a tiny puff of smoke on throttle down, you're right where it should be, not over or under. Nice clean looking and running truck, I didn't see or hear anything obnoxious.
Thank You!
Welcome back great video!
Thank you!
Chris looks like the type of guy who lays thick pipe all the time.
How did you ruin ur turbo tho
... I didnt.. but it makes for a great thumbnail
@@NevadaRandom smh wow!!!
@@NevadaRandom You mean click bait.
It's not worth Pulling the Ring out...I don't think it made a Difference at all ..It's a little hard to get out and I think I'm going to put it back in...
Without getting rid of the air tube with the muffler there isnt much of a sound difference. If you put a better air tube on... she sings a decent amount more
If you don't have a boost gauge, you are wasting your time trying to determine whether it made a difference most of the time. I can assure you, it made a difference though even if you don't feel it.
People hook or wave at me and the big rigs hit the horn at me and wave as will lol
Lol, I can see that. Stacks are just about pointed at them
I have a 5 inch straight pipe stack lol and that will make it louder with the ring off the Trubo
NICE. I thought about a stack... maybe if I go flat bed
Hell yeah brother the best way to go
Do you have a link to the exhaust kit?
I got if from Diesel Power Products. Great company. www.dieselpowerproducts.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA3-yQBhD3ARIsAHuHT65k9n0IYZ0fVho3Bl8DCTW6KXAi57eKVyfSa2HHIXwSH_RG0-tVS-kaAvxREALw_wcB
Great stuff man keep it up!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel! Going to be posting a few soon!
My first gen IC had a silencer ring in it and there wasn't even an MWE port/groove( someone goofed at the turbo factory apparently), it had primary and secondary fins on the wheel, go figure, but since it was a mid year model with the cooler it got the larger tube from the AF to the turbo. I took my turbo out and apart and machined the MWE port in the comp housing and removed the ring, it was a big enough PIA doing it on the bench in a vice. No way I would fight with it under the hood, I'd at least pull the comp housing to do this but for sure you better have a new seal ring to put in when you go back together with it. By the time I was done with the turbo, swapping the 21 for a 12 and working over the IP and the MWE along with the ring removal, I'm sure it made for at least another 60HP. Next on the list is a set of 90 HP inj. a compound setup and a dual disc clutch kit. That ought to be about the end of my G360 trans input shaft.
Im still debating on bigger turbo on the build.. Time will tell.. First I have to get rid of the death wobble... and then build a stronger 48re
Bla bla bla just show before and after
Blah blah blah.... Go watch vine
Why the fuck does the thumbnail for this video say "I ruined my turbo". That is just some clickbait bullshit, and skipping to the end when you say "I have driven it for bla blah blah... And I absolutely love it". Just proves it. Super lame home boy. Super lame.
Oh boy 6 hours of worthless burnouts. Not a real drag race.
Isn't that what camaro guys like? Figure you see enough drag races from second place. Thought you might be interested how horsepower turns tires. They are 1/16 mile et drags.
@@NevadaRandom Nice response. 330' isn't a drag race. I know they're just having fun, but after 10 burnouts it becomes what else do you have?
@copo camaro Listen little keyboard warrior, if you don't like that Hot August Nights calls it a drag race call them.
@@NevadaRandom So I express an opinion and because you haven't the ability to respond in an intelligent manner you have to resort to name calling. My opinion is this is nothing but a burn out spectacle. 330' is not a drag race. My opinion. If you don't agree I could care less.
@@6arley4liv3 yea.. thats why it's called the burnouts and drags.. lol any straight line competition with a vehicle can be considered a drag race. It's for fun and bring spectators. Next time bring your car and lay some rubber. 👍
