At 16 my dream to build a Gypsy Caravan became a reality as I began construction. I incorporated the sloping walls of the Reading Wagon with the Ledge Wagon style and then went with the finishing touches of the more natural feeling Shepherds Hut. Height vs width and the resulting look was an important factor. At it's highest point, the caravan is 7'6" and the bed across the back is set at a hei...

What did you use for exterior cladding?
The trailer is clad in exterior grade plywood. The lath covers the seams.

The Vardo is doing well, thanks for asking! It is a little too tiny to be livable for two people and a dog, in a cold climate. I have however been using it as a music recording studio. You can check out some of my music on this channel :)

It is too large to be towed by bicycle, it requires a heavy duty pickup to be towed. However I have seen some cool designs that are lower to the ground and smaller that can be towed that way 😊
How many lb does it weight What's its dimensions?
I don’t know how much it weighs, but I tried to keep it light by using 2x2s for the framing and not putting on any extra outer siding. The dimensions for the base before it goes out into a ledge are 8’ x 4’9”. I can’t remember how far out the ledge goes or what the angle I used for the slope was, but this is more dependent on what trailer you have anyway. I do know at the point where the bed hits the wall it is at least 6’ long so that the bed is long enough for a standard single mattress. The porch extends 14” as well.

Thank you so much, that means a lot coming from you! I have been a huge fan of your work since I first heard this song years ago. My lovely and talented music teacher, who has since passed on helped me figure out the chords for this on piano by ear. Now I love playing it on Baritone Ukulele, it is such a special song and always makes me think of her.
