This is profound, it seems like a part of the unconscious kind of sustained its existance by your conscious negative feelings. To face the fears you have had is to see that they are nothing (thinly vailed threats). The spell is broken and the part of the unconscous knows there is no fear it can attach to anymore. And thus it has to transform and move on. I personally had a similar expireance. This was a multipart dream. First I was at home and had to build something, I was in a rush to complete it, because a dragon always gets to me, throws me around and I have to restart putting the thing together. The next part was that I was under my blanked and around me was the void. A manacing snakelike dragon floats around me. Frightened I think: "This is not... This is not Islam, this is not Atheism, this is not...". First of all the dreams seem to have similarities. For one in yours and mine the snake caused fear and thus influenced our decicionmaking in daily life. We both verbalised the nothingness. In yours it kind of was a brave confrontation and dismissal. In mine it felt more like a frightful revelation, that this is the abscence of things i. e. no ideology, no religion, no anything.

I'm not sure. In my meditations the red is usually related to violence. Like a warrior, a killer, sadist, or murder or at worst a beast. As a cerebral man, perhaps Jung viewed war like and capacity to violence as the devil. For mean I sense him as a serpent. His goal was not pain, but to the destruction of the sanity or will or capacity to love... really, to destroy their capacity to trust.

I dream nearly every night that I’m swimming through the air. I only do breast stroke & don’t go much higher than roof tops. I lift off the ground as if to start flying but then I can only do the breast stroke. There is always baddies after me & im trying to get away. I would love to know what that means. I’m 44 & had this dream for as long as I can remember 🫶

There's something I wish to add here. There's little evidence to support the assumption that older interpretations of ideas and archetypes maintain there relevance across time. By no means do I say that crocodiles aren't thick skinned, but what I want to mention is that our minds often use whatever it has access to define an abstract message or revelation. I've seen many dreams and spoken on the topic with many people, and there seems to be a trend of substituting any given stable archetype with whatever feels suitable to the individual. However, I can't guess if this is due to the nature of the topic, the reality of dreams, of a fundamental misconception of language and rational transformation. Feel free to comment on this observation.

Vampires are reaccuring in my dreams from time to time. The part about ego driven desires seem to be reflected in the symbolism of the Vampire. I am reminded of a dream where I was in a sort of mansion and by my side was a candle. The cadle had a greenish flame which was ominous. In the shadows I saw a Vampire and the candle was flickering. As soon as the candle was dimming enough the Vampire attacked me. It seems that conscious awareness is the antidote to the vampiric influences, when one can observe what is going on emotially and motively the vampire can't do anything. But that also means that it is the moment of unconsciousness where the Vampire can infiltrate.

And upon every night I watch Death return with its fill, passing straight through me each and every time carving bits and pieces out of me but never the whole, so I stumble back home to rest ever slightly less of what I was at the start of the day, shallow pools of sleep till I wake and start my journey back to Deaths doorstep to wait for another day in hopes that maybe, just maybe this time it takes all of me.
