When I was 56 I decided to take a year off then work again until 65, Well after a few months I knew I did not want to go back to work (which was a surprise to me as I thought I liked working). Living in Hawaii my expenses are a lot higher than most places but I found I spent much less than I anticipated. In any case it has been 7 years now and Ive never been happier. One thing you might look at is taking withdrawals from you 401K and putting them in a Roth (you must have some income to do this) or even in a regular brokerage account to take advantage of your low tax bracket. It important to work the numbers as one key is paying little to no tax on what you have. Good luck and have fun!

If you will work part time why do you need 10-13 more years? You could take SS earlier, maybe not immediately at 62 but push it a bit - as much as possible... CZcams can be a nice side hustle :). Focus #1 - get that depreciating asset of a car paid off as that’s your meal ticket to freedom. I refuse to go back to the corporate jungle. Love this! You are so right! I just retired at 56 at the end of May. There is nothing I own in that is more valuable than my freedom. I live near the woods and don't have a fenced backyard, so I've had a variety of critters help themselves to my garden - mostly groundhogs, rabbits, squirrels and deer. I've never had a ripe blueberry yet - the birds get them first. Groundhogs got my kale and beans and several cucumber plants a few weeks ago. Squirrels and birds have taken nearly all my strawberries. I don't want to make my garden into a fortress, so I figure I'm going to lose stuff and that's OK. Yesterday I saw a beautiful fox surveying my garden (he probably realized how many critters come visit it!) and that made me very happy!

I have worked the same job for 20 years, the first 14 I saved 3 to 4k a year and had 70k. When I turned 50 I decided I needed to save and invest so I could retire before I died. Thank You, Wow, looked at your channel, you are doing awesome. Yes, getting online, expressing my thoughts and just putting myself out there is something I am kind of uncomfortable with and something I never thought I would do. Taking a mini retirement is not common, I have no one to talk to about it, so I am talking about it and putting it out there. I am also looking forward to this journey, I am going to a place I've never been before, I can't wait to see what it looks like. Good luck with the rebranding, from what you have already achieved, I am sure you will do well, I have subscribed to see what you do.

@@curtislake333 thanks! FYI, now is a great time to start a CZcams channel. They changed the algorithm and are pushing out smaller creators! CZcams pays well. I didn’t make a video for a year due to personal reasons and still receive monthly payments from Google Adsense!

First video, it leaves a lot of room for improvement, the next one will be better.
