I think you give too much weight to the fanboi paradaox...err...which is to say that to care too much about this stuff is just not very comics fan legit, no-prize? Movies have that problem but when the X-men met the Teen Titans in the 1983ish crossover...oh, hey yeah....heard of you guys, surprised we haven't bumped into you before. Who cares? (the 90's introduced explaining that one shot 64 pager with a 4 issue mini series...) Also...never say never. Superman and Shazam duking it out in Kingdom Come....huge legal history there. DC was once just a corporate whim away from being 100% published by Marvel as a license with WB seeing the comics as promotional pamphlets to keep major ip's in children's minds.

7:16 the drawing is not technically correct the pose he is drawing from has the far arm up and crossing the body so the pec can be flexed more dramatically, Liefeld drew the character with his far arm down making the flexed pec incorrect. try this experiment, relax one arm now take your other hand and place your finger on your shoulder. without moving that finger raise the formerly relaxed arm as high as you can... you will now notice the finger is no longer touching your shoulder. this is something a great many comic artists forget moving one part moves everything connected to that part. This is just one image Liefeld fubar'd. he frequently draws feet of the page so he doesn't have to show them and his hands, when not fists, are almost always anatomically flawed in significant ways. His male characters pretty much all have the same two expressions (gritted teeth bared, or stern stoicism) no matter the occasion and his females all have RBF, I cannot recall seeing any work of his that deviated from this. I will admit I don't follow his work, he just made too many mistakes for me to enjoy it.
