One of my favorite pieces of evidence for Ninten being Buzz Buzz is this line from Giegue: "Foolish one, you cannot do a thing with your meager powers... Powers worthy of a lowly insect." It mirrors the Starman Jr.’s dialogue in Earthbound perfectly, and it makes me think that Giegue was the one who turned Ninten into an insect.

Presenting new ideas on old games certainly has an interesting take on the past. I wonder if sometimes people can make these games with these things in mind: "How does this, or will this, transform minds in the future? Against what backdrops could something like this happen with?" I wonder certainly.

I think you're exactly right. If it were released as an Indy game today it would be praised. Back then all people seemed to care about were bits, blast processing, and how cool any game looked. Games were not often seen as an adjunct to films or reading. Pushing the limit on video games is what sold video games. Now we seemingly have no limits and people are realizing the magic that can come from something seemingly so simple yet truly so complex. Simply put, Earthbound was ahead of its time.

What's weird is that Giygas's lair looks like organ pathways or tentacles. Then, as you get to the end of it, not only the devil's machine has Ness's face on it, but it also surprisingly looks like a woman's va*ina or u*erus. Not sure if that fits the theory, but it's pretty disturbing.

Damn I'm glad I found this video. You probably won't see this, but I loved it. Donkey Kong Country 2 has one of the best soundtracks of all time imo and I love hearing other people go in depth with how much they love it, I think you love it even more than I do haha! But seriously, I love what you said at the end. Music is special, it's an amazing artform and I absolutely adore music that is able to affect me the way that game's music has, the kind of music that makes me shed a tear, the kind of music that makes me feel like in that moment I understand exactly what the artist/creator was trying to convey. There's countless OSTs that make me feel that way, and everytime I listen to them, they make me realize just how beautiful, no, just how GORGEOUS music can be. Truly special. Great vid!

Donkey Kong Country is my earliest memory of video game music that has left an emotional impact on me. Of course i played alot of Mario World, All Stars, Sonic 2, and other games back then, but Donkey Country and its sequels are the first games where the music was so good i found myself pausing my snes just to listen to certain songs on loop and purposely going through levels for the music. Later games for the ps1 like the Spyro the Dragon Trilogy and Frogger: He's Back will give me similar feelings due to how much atmosphere, melodies, and interesting sounds the soundtrack goes through. The ps1 in general had so many ganes that made me appreciate the work that goes into video soundtracks.

I don't feel any of this makes SM64 creepy, but I now undertand why it feels so dream-like in a unique way Edit to add: it may actually be because of the dream-like quality, that SM64 taught me how to swim in real life in a way. I didn't understand it at first, and I was crap at water levels. Then I had a dream about the game where I realised there is a rhythm to it. The next day I could finally clear the secret stage next to dire dire docks without drowning and oddly enough, after that dream taught me to swim in the game, I kind of got it in real life too for the first time.

It's crazy to believe that 4 years have passed since the Gigaleak and the revival in popularity of Super Mario 64. This video is by far the best attempt at explaining why rhis game gives a feeling of sadness and slight dread to some of us. For many years I believed I was the only one who felt that and thought maybe I was crazy but glad to see there are more people that also have that feeling, I dont feel so alone now. I'd go as far to say it's not just Mario 64 but other games made by Nintendo themselves from around that era, I remember the first Animal Crossing for the Gamecube and Luigi's Mansion also produced that feeling in me.

20 titles in 6 years is too much for one franchise, and it shows with the quality of the titles overtime. This is why 3DO was no longer around since 2003 or 4. They should've focused on making fewer games and on different franchises instead of milking to what was arguably their mascot franchise too soon.

While the idea of buzz buzz being ninten sounds good on paper. You have to consider the fact that if he was why wouldn’t he try and tell his past self to track down ness and accompany him. He likely would be able to teach Ness and his friends how to use psi more effectively and at that point he could also track down his old friends to help as well. My theory is that buzz buzz is simply a warrior who used psi to stop gigas before. No relation to ninten or ness. Also as for why buzz buzz was only capable of using supportive psi his physical form likely doesn’t have the durability to contain that power like how gigue’s body couldn’t hold the power and became gigas. On top of that there exists another bug in earthbound that provides psi aid, the magic butterflies that relax the party.

My story: When I was about 8-10 years old, I made a new game... Enter the castle, bowser laughs, then... No music. Silence. Just footsteps of Mario. Everywhere was so eerily quiet. It gave me nightmares. It doesn't stop there. At one point, the game cart must have glitched (maybe hacked used copy idk) and the game FROZE and made a horrible stuttering/prolonged sound with LOUD SCREECHING/SCREAMING noises in between... I SHUT IT OFF and didn't touch that game for YEARS! Had my mommy put it away hidden in a cabinet because I was sobbing and waking her up, asking to sleep in her bed.
