Off the top of my head I’m not really sure what is happening. But it does sound like you’ve got channel 1/2 prioritized for the Mac’s generic audio out. I’d have to try and replicate this to give you a solid answer. I’ll see if I can do that. If anyone else has had this issue, hopefully they will respond.

SORRY, I'm a dumb-dumb, I didn't realize you said Rodecaster Pro "2". You need to enable your submixes to use it correctly and do some panning. Hi Paul, You're right I didn't say anything about that routing. And that was on purpose. What you've done is created a direct-out, right from the input of the channel DIRECT to the physical output of the mixer. This is not the same as an Aux-Send at all. Doing it this way removes your ability to send additional channels to that Aux output. You can now only use that output for the physical input you assigned to it. For instance; If you "routed" channel 3 to aux 1 and channel 4 to aux 2... You now cannot send anything additional to either output. Aux 1 will only output the input of channel 3 Aux 2 will only output the input of channel 4. If that is what you want, then of course, carry on. But if you're trying to correctly use your Aux Sends, then this is not the way to do it. If you followed my video instructions and did not get signal to your aux outputs, then you may have skipped a step, or possibly something in your setup is incorrect, or potentially your mixer has an issue. If you are able to listen to the other end of the stream on your device and the audio has no issue, but others are experiencing problems, then the likely culprit is the device being used to listen. That being said, there are a lot of variables so without additional information it’s hard to give you an absolute answer. If could hear the audio myself I could probably comment with more certainty.

The master fader doesn’t activate, which is pretty annoying I will admit. However, because a Pro Tools master is just another channel strip / fader, it will show up on the last channel of your bank. So if you had seven channels and a master in your session, then fader 8 on the xtouch would be the master channel.

@@QuickEZ Okay, my X-Touch came today. I did everything you said, and for some reason, it displays the information in my session, but the controls don't work at all and Pro Tools says it "cannot communicate with HUI." I have no idea how to troubleshoot this.

🙃 turns out I'm an idiot. I didn't have them both set to INT in the peripherals menu. I got it to work.

I don’t disagree on any of this. Sadly, every mixer has something to dislike or at the very least scratch your head over. I think people at the top probably make decisions about priorities, and regardless of what the R&D department come up with, they hold things back. Big D restriction is so ridiculous!! That’s a shame about your 27”… If I had the money I’d just pick up a ton of touch screens and test them for everyone so there’d be no more guessing. Maybe one day…

That’s part of it for sure. But the fact the XR mixers only have 2.4 ghz is also part of the issue. It’s a saturated spectrum. I had one even where I got absolutely squashed by every other access point in the building. I couldn’t connect because every other AP was absolutely burying my mixers AP. Thankfully, I never go anywhere without backups so I hardwired and never ever used the built in wifi again.

@@QuickEZ I only used the Client not the Access Point when using it on the job. Granted there was no internet access, but I didn’t need or want it on the job. In addition, if I could have hidden the name only those I gave the name to could connect hence passwords would not be necessary either. Number of clients is not limited with the external router.

The default app for controlling your mix is MX-Q. This is the Behringer app and it’s dead simple to use. Select the bus/aux assigned to you, select your channels and away you go. You can also group inputs into what are called MCA’s. so group things like drums to one MCA, vocals to another, you see where I’m going. Then you have a volume control for each MCA so you can turn up all the vocals or turn down all the drums, without having to dig into the channels themselves. MX-Q won’t LOCK you to only your mix. You can back out of your mix and get into another band members mix. BUT it’s very clear when you’ve done that. Your mix is displayed at the top left and you have to click that, then select the other persons mix. So it’s not an accidental one button slip up. AND you cannot get into the house mix L/R. So you can’t mess with what the audience is hearing at all. All this said; if your sound guy happens to be using Mixing Station as his app for control, you can also use that app. Same sort of setup, in that you are’t technically LOCKED to your own mix, however, to get into someone else’s mix you have to literally: disconnect from the app. Hold the console selector for two seconds, Select your bus….. There is no way you’re going to accidentally end up in your band mates mix. MX-Q is free. Mixing station cost about $5 per device. But honestly, it’s worth the cost if he’s using it to mix. There is absolutely a learning curve to it. But again, if he’s using it to mix, then he can probably get you through the learning curve fairly quickly. Hope this helps. Hi, The original beginner app had issues just over a year ago because they hadn’t kept up with the iOS changes. It caused a huge issue for months. But it has since been rectified. There is a new app in beta called MX-Mix. That will eventually replace the Xair edit app. However, the Xair edit app is fully functional!! You can see the new MX Mix app on the App Store. But it is not a complete app yet. Don’t try to use it for live mixing. It’s only available so that people can test it for bugs at the moment.

I haven’t tried it with FL myself. But you can definitely make a connection to a phone or a tablet with the correct adapter. And if FL has mackie or HUI midi support built into it then you should be able to make it work. If I get the chance I’ll see if I can test this out.

The only use case that comes immediately to mind is for creating something distinct for creative reasons. Like escalating feedback for some kind of sound field. But this is something most people aren’t ever going to need. So honestly, no. There’s no practical use case in a non-professional mixer. That said, this is a side-effect of how most consoles operate. You have to bring your effect back to the console surface for mixing so in most situations the ability to create a feedback loop exists purely as a result of how the system functions. I do think however, that the nature of this mixer, being a non-professional piece of equipment, Behringer could have done something to make it more difficult to accidentally land on this side-effect. I’ve seen so many people make this mistake with these mixers as soon as they get signal going. But, that’s why I mention it in this and other XR videos on this channel. Thanks for watching!

@@QuickEZ Oh haha this considered non-professional? But yeah can easily get confused why the FX out is down and once you push the wrong ones up in sends on fader mode that's it. One thing I noticed is on Yamaha's they allow turning off individual sends on fader sends whereas here the mute is universal for inputs and sends.

What file did you download? it should come as an UPDATE file not an EXE file. I think you downloaded something else. I have uploaded the firmware update files to my own google drive if you want to grab them from there. I have a folder with the update for each model. Hi srossjr3, I know you said the bus fader isn’t muted. But did you also raise the bus master fader?

If your bus fader is up. Make sure you check your aux output routing. Click the routing button at the top of your iPad. Click aux outputs Scroll to the right of the matrix window and make sure that aux 1 output is actually assigned to bus 1

Not a silly question at all. I didn’t t unplug it right away after the power down. And you don’t “have to”, but you can. If you leave it in, it will just prompt you again if you want to do the update again. At which point you can say no and remove the stick. I probably should have included that in my video. Hi Marcus, I'm sorry you're having issues. If you followed the tutorial step-by-step you should be good to go. That being said, Please check that your bit-depth and sample rate in your Logic session are matching with your mixer settings. Also, I've encountered a few people who had to do the following: Open your system settings on your Mac click on PRIVACY & SECURITY click on MICROHPONE make sure that Logic has been granted access to use your microphone. The UI24 becomes a "microphone" when connected to your system so if Logic doesn't have access, it could potentially stop you from getting signal. Let me know if this solved your issue. If it doesn't, please try another USB cable. This is often the problem. There is no guarantee this is your problem but it is a common one. If you can try another available cable before buying a new one, I recommend that before spending money.
