WWDC 2024 - But Apple Is Honest (PARODY)
Just imagine if Apple kept it real during their WWDC 2024 keynote.
Yes, it's a parody. No, it's not to be taken seriously. Yes, there's only 2 costumes.
Massive thanks to @AminOnPC for help the setup
Massive thanks to @Lead_N_Iron for some of the hilarious ideas
Hope you all enjoy it. And I hope Apple Intelligence doesn't come after me. 🤦🏾‍♂️😂

    Boss man i have the asus gt-ac5300 at home i believe is a wifi 5 but super powerful had it for 3 years so far no issues, i am expecting to receive my bell 3gbps next week with its gigahub, do you think my asus will be stronger than the gigahub or the gigahub will be stronger due to wifi 6E ?

    • @TechMixr
      @TechMixr Před 7 dny

      So something to consider That router I don’t believe has acceleration for PPPoE- so you may barely even hit gigabit speeds with a wired client. The Homehub 4000 is a decent router, I think the gigahub is good too but I’ve heard issues with it. Going beyond wifi 5, you’ll see an improvement. But experiment. If you find you’re having issues with the ASUS, maybe remove it from the equation entirely. Also, if you’re going to use the ASUS, if you notice the speeds are really bad, you can do advanced DMZ- which can be problematic to get going the first time but you’ll get your speeds back. Unfortunately- it’s like a weird double NAT’d wannabe bridge mode. Just my 2 cents. Hope it works though!

      Amen. I’m bundled with 2 phones and the reception is AWFUL. Like I actually miss Fido. I will say having 155 gigs per line shared is nice and data speeds are faster than Fido ever was ……. But it loses connectivity a lot and the call quality is AWFUL. I even have wifi calling issues on both phones in 2 separate households and based on my network, it’s definitely not my wifi. Bell needs to do better in a LOT of ways.

This year I had a door knocker, happened to get 1.5gb for approximately the same price ($55) as what I was paying ($50ish) 50mb with my cable package from a 3rd party service provider. This doesn't appear to be under a ~2 year contract. The giga modem was also paid outright with a setup credit. So I guess I won't need to return it to Bell or have rental fees later in life.

    Just an update (June 2024): I upgraded to Bell 3gb and received the Giga Hub modem. To get the B1 user ID you can get it from clicking "Internet" once logging into your modem. For the password you can do 2 ways: 1. Log into MyBell and check your services and scroll down to your Internet (or One Bill) and you shuold see a "change modem access password", click that and change it. 2. If like me Bell hasn't added the internet services to your account yet, CALL TECH SUPPORT, tell them "My technician just setup my modem but I forgot to ask for the B1 password, can you provide it" and they'll get it for you. If the person doesn't know what you're talking about (they should they're tech support) just ask be transferred to manager/supervisor and that person can definitely help you. Log into your modem before they change your password so you're on the modem screen. After they change it, click on "Internet" then you'll see on the left the B1 user ID and password, click "change" and enter the new password the support gives you then click connect. Your status will go from "down" to "up" and you'll be connected again. Then follow the rest of TechMixr's instructions to setup PPPoE with Asus. Just remember to CHANGE YOUR B1 PASSWORD TO SOMETHING SECURE LATER ONCE THE SERVICE IS ADDED TO YOUR ACCOUNT. I came back to this video to re-setup my Asus mesh network lol Ok bye

    I waited and bought the Panasonic S5IIX and sold it because the autofocus was not reliable enough. I had to reshoot several times to get a professional result. I finally bought a ZV-E1 and I no longer have any focusing problems. On principle and since Gerald Undone's video, I no longer trust CZcamsrs because of the conflict of interest with the manufacturers and the lack of respect for their audience.

    • @TechMixr
      @TechMixr Před 29 dny

      This is THE REASON I made this video. I want my audience to trust me. Just because a brand throws money / products / opportunities at me, shouldn't mean that I compromise the value. Which is the viewer watching. (You know I agree with you given the first 6 seconds of this video 😂) My thought is that, the MOMENT I take sponsorships, I'm going to get lumped in with creators who aren't the most forthcoming about their actual experience- or even worse, the ones who don't disclose correctly their relationship with the brand. So I made this video hoping to make it abundantly clear that I'm going to do my absolute best to keep it 100% in my content. Appreciate your honesty.

    FYI, my suspicion is that the hub uses a realtek r8125 or derived chipset for the 2.5GB/s driver. This behavior is really common with those devices and also manifests on Linux drivers for USB dongles that use this. I am not sure if the problem also occurs on windows boxes at all, but at least for Linux and MacOS, 1.1GB up, and 2.5GB down is about as good as you can do with the hardware and heat envelope.

    • @TechMixr
      @TechMixr Před měsícem

      I would agree,.... except I can sustain 2.5 gigabit within the local network at home and there's no throttling whatsoever. I was able to send 300 gigs of data within my network from one computer to another at 285 megabytes a second (sustained) which is around 2280 without issue. The hub didn't get hot at all. And the fact that even after stressing the hub on the 2012 Macbook Pro, the Ookla Speedtest could still achieve 2300 on the upload side invalidates this as a hub issue. It's most likely some weird Apple driver issue with newer MacOS versions. Also, I tried this on my 2020 Macbook Pro (the DJ computer with the Intel i9 running MacOS Ventura) with the same results, so that rules out Apple Silicon being an issue.

  • @brusdaar
    @brusdaar Před měsícem

    I was just testing the network speeds from my MBP with the M2 and I've been dealing with inconsistent uploads as well. My thought is that when the changed to the arm architecture that the drivers for that iteration of the network controller are at fault for this. Good video.

    • @TechMixr
      @TechMixr Před měsícem

      Unfortunately I wish this was the case. I have a 2020 i9 MacBook Pro. (The DJ computer). The hub behaves exactly the same on that machine as well. (It’s running Ventura where the M3 Max is obviously on Sonoma as it shipped with it)- it’s the one thing I forgot to mention in the video. You are right that it’s probably driver related, but it’s the same story on both Intel and Apple silicon in my experience. I find it hilarious that the 2012 beats both of them 🤦🏾‍♂️ Thank you so much for the compliment.

      I’m going to respectfully disagree 😂 There is a LOT it does well- not to say your preference is wrong, but different things for different people. I spend a lot of time in terminal and I find a lot of things work for my workflow better with it- even without using terminal. Some can say the same about any OS, it’s really personal preference. Not an Apple apologist by any means because they do things that annoy me, but the things they get right are outstanding. Going from something like Windows has a huge amount of friction to overcome, so I get the opinion.

    Hi @TechMixr is there any way we can do a private chat about the UDM PRO SE and the Bell Gig Hub. I tried what you showed in the video and basically I lost connection to the UDM. Let me know 🙂 I have read other sites where People using UDM PRO and Bell Giga Hub and getting 3GB down and 3GB Up. Not sure what I am doing wrong

    • @TechMixr
      @TechMixr Před měsícem

      Unfortunately I won’t do a private chat. But here’s what I found works. Also, this will help others hopefully that are looking for information. If you do PPPoE you won’t get full speed. It’s a hardware limitation on the UDM. If you’re insistent on full speed, you would do Advanced DMZ - you set your UDM to DHCP and let it get the IP from the modem. In the Homehub/Gigahub make sure advanced DMZ is checked, and you can bind it to the MAC address of the UDM. Remember what I said about DHCP? It means you don’t input your Bell credentials into your UDM as the authentication takes place on Bell’s equipment. If you have connection issues, you have to constantly reboot. The order if I remember correctly is to reboot the modem with the UDM disconnected. Then simply connect your UDM after the reboot completes and it should give you an IP. The downside is, in a power failure, you may have to repeat this process, and there’s talk about whether or not you’re double NAT with this setup. It may not show it, but it could be. Also, it’s recommended if you’re using your own equipment for wifi to disable the wifi on Bell’s equipment.

      @@TechMixr Yeah I followed your steps you mentioned in the video except the issue was that my UDM PRO SE would not connect (may need to repeat your steps of multiple reboots for the UDM). I have a UPS on the equipment so if there is a short power outage it should not affect the Bell hub or UDM and switches. What I found is funny is in the early morning or late night if i run a test I get full 3 GB down and UP (or very close like 2.8 down. 3 up is consistent thru the whole day) but during the day my Download speed is around 1.6GB. I assume that Bell and Fibe is suppose to be independent of other people around my area (Where Rogers was effected by people around you). Very Strange!!! Any ideas on that . I live in the Richmond Hill area

    • @TechMixr
      @TechMixr Před měsícem

      If you’re using PPPoE it’s not related to time of day at all. That’s just a coincidence. Check your CPU usage when doing a speed test and you’ll see, it’s the UDM causing your issue. It’s been documented a lot. Also, it’s multiple reboots of the Bell equipment, not the UDM. You can try rebooting the UDM after the Bell equipment- your results may vary to others. But as long as it’s setup correctly, it should eventually connect.

    I’ve had nothing but problems with my Realtek 2.5G dongles. Performance issues on both macOS and on Windows - even when plugged into a native 10G switch. My most reliable adapter so far has been a Connect-X adapter plugged into an eGPU enclosure…which sucks because it’s huge and I can’t bring it around with me lol

      @@TechMixr Thanks for the quick reply! I’ve tried changing the MTU, but haven’t tried locking the link speed. (I’ll go try that now) I did manage to get my dongles to perform correctly on Windows after updating them manually (through Realtek’s website). It seems like the driver Windows Update installs by default is a bit broken.

      @@aaronrh_ awesome! Hopefully Apple gets their sh*t together and addresses networking in Sonoma 🤦🏾‍♂️ my wifi on my maxed out M3 Max caps at the highest I’ve seen being 130 megabit. My 2012 is faster and so is my 2020 machine.

      @@TechMixr Seems to be the same. IIRC the Realtek driver is provided by Realtek themselves, but it’s ancient and they don’t really have any incentive to fix it. WiFi-wise, yeah…it blows. 80 MHz wireless on my M1 Pro is a joke, and I typically cap out at 600-700 Mbps (exactly the same with my iPhone). My Windows machine easily pushes 1.3-1.4 Gbps over WiFi (160 MHz) lol Edit: I’m curious, what AP are you using?

      They have fibre to their node, not to the home. So they’re not TECHNICALLY lying, just being hyper deceiving.

    Hey Like your Videos. I have the Bell 3GB UP and Down with the Ubiquiti UDM PRO SE. I noticed that the Download speed is usually around 1.8 GB however the upload speed is constantly 3GB. Have you tried your Bell service with an UDM PRO SE? Can you maybe do a video on this. I would greatly appreciate it. Another Question: I have been going back and forth with Ubiquiti support regarding the poor download performance. Ubiquiti support mentioned that it could be a interoperability issue with the modem/upstream router that could be causing this. Is this Possible? FYI I have replaced the UDM PRO and still same issue.
