RX7 FC vmount cooling setup - Part 3 - Bittersweet ending
Long overdue video.
The v-mount setup has been finished for over a year. It’s been put through it’s paces and heavily abused: drifting on 40C summer days and street driven many clicks. It works, pretty dam well. It has a it’s drawbacks, but overall it improved my cooling issues I was having, and I could drift for 4-5 hot laps as opposed to 1 or 2 like I used to be able to.
Oil temps are the only thing that could be further improved. I think using a bigger oil cooler would be best, along with a bigger intake catch at the front bumper. My design keeps the oil cooler far back, but would probably be better to have 2 coolers in the side ports (brake ducts) of the front bumper and keeping the v-mount to just a radiator and intercooler. This is all thinking of drifting in mind, I think this setup as shown in the video would be fantastic for a street/time attack car where the car is not going sideways. Driving around on the street, I never had temp issues sitting in traffic on hot days or cruising on the highway like I used to have!
Engines now coming out and going to something better and more supported :)

Building an SR20 downpipe

I build a downpipe for my friends SR20 powered 240sx drift car. I skip over a few fabrication steps in this video, but there a sound test is at the end! Ended up modifying what you saw on the downpipe and tucking the exhaust up the next day but forgot to film it... anyways car has a 3" straight pipe to Greddy cannon muffler!

Where did you get your fenders? Or do you have any recommendations for widebody front fenders and rear quarters? I don’t wanna have to cut up my fc
Front fenders are authentic BN sports fenders I brought back from Japan. For the rear you will need to cut it up if you want widebody and extra tire clearance. I did custom steel rear widebody to match the profile of the BN sports fenders
Anything authentic from Japan is pretty good fitment. Heard good things about foresight front fenders too. Shine auto in the USA is supposed to have good fitment too. Only rear off the shelf over fenders I’ve seen that seem to fit OK are Origin Labo

It not a pick up it's a strong lorry truck it payload is 9 Tons = 9000 kg almost 20000 pounds with high durability and high fuel economy and easy to repair and that version is the best cz it don't have ad blue in it system

Haven’t seen these wheels anywhere before, I’ve got anhelo (don’t know what) 3 piece, solid spokes, 20 inch wheels. No idea what they’re worth or if they’re a good brand? Good video anyway mate
Hmm are you sure they are Anhelo wheels if they are 20”? Don’t think these came in anything but 17”. Sound cool though! Thanks for the comment

Great work! I want to do something similar but for my front fenders because I’m tired of chewing up frp when turning. What tools did you use to get the wheel arch cut so perfect and did you roll the bottom edge or is it not that sharp
Thank you! I went through a couple cardboard templates to get it as good as I could. I started with the drivers side and screwed up a couple panels before getting it on the third try. From there I had my final cardboard template and flipped it to make the passenger side panel. All cutting was done with an angle grinder The bottom edge isn’t rolled over like a factory quarter, but it’s not too sharp either. I thought about welding in some 3/16” round bar steel but it’s pretty strong as it sits and can run tight wheel fitment haha

How much does the mounting setup weigh? Why not use aluminum?
I'm not too sure, maybe 8-10lbs or so. I found steel an easier material to work with due to its availability and cheapness haha
You vent the intercooler, you went the radiator, do you vent the oil cooler? Feel venting that is the most important one

Hi! I would have a question. I have an s13 with a CA18. I've bought a(probably a chinese aftermarket) same RX7 style oil cooler which I'm planning to mount under the top core support therefore it can get some "clear" arflow through my pignose bumper and route the lines to my mocal thermostatic sandwich plate which obviously sits lower than the oil cooler itself. In your opinion would this cause any drainback issues or is it safe to run besides a little extra strain on the oil pump to get the oil up there. As far as I know I wouldn't run into any issues nor drainback but I like to dig around and read other ppls experiences. Cheers for your input in advance!
