    Looks like a great lens but definitely not one you’d want to use for filming bmx/skateboarding. Tricks can take a very long time to land and holding the camera with that lens will be a pain. Plus you’re risking a lot with an expensive lens in an environment prone to damage. Additionally, 15mm doesn’t look to be wide enough to get up and close to the rider. The 12mm rokinon f2.8 is my choice for filming bmx.

    I bought this camera earlier this year and really REALLY love it. My only frustration (and you mentioned this) is the sheer quantity of options in their massive menu. I constantly fight with trying to find the proper menus when I want to try something new. I found the Live Comp mode to be THE most fun and it seems to be highly versatile, especially if you don't mind using ND filters to work more in daylight. (the included 4 stops are NOT enough for most daylight work though) Overall, you are spot on about the battery life and I now own 3 batteries to counter this issue. They are small enough to fit in any sized camera bag/case. Now to start learning about how to utilize Pro-capture and the Hi_Res features... Cheers!

      The menu 🤯 There's not a perfect camera menu, unfortunately... they all have their own unique ways of burying information and strange ways of laying things out, but once you've been using it for a while and if you're prepared to take a bit of time to learn the systems then you'll be fine and you'll get the most from the camera. Great to hear you're enjoying it and loving the features. Pro-Capture is amazing for wildlife - OM System have a video which will help you get set up (czcams.com/video/RjIKedW43HA/video.htmlsi=H34MH1Y5MqR4DevE) Thanks for watching 😊

    • @WilkinsonCameras
      @WilkinsonCameras Před 2 dny

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! We were using the Rode VideoMicro with a Deadcat windshield on the EOS R50 that day, which did a great job of blocking the wind! It's a small and very lightweight shotgun mic, which in the UK costs around £75ish. If you wanted something more versatile which you could also use with your mobile then consider a wireless mic like the Rode Wireless Me or the DJI Mic 2. The downside to a wireless mic is that it's another thing to charge and you have to wear it on you. But you do get the extra versatility. If you're UK based then we stock all of the above at www.wilkinson.co.uk Thanks for watching!

      @@WilkinsonCameras Thanks for replying you are so kind. No, actually I'm a night vlogger and using iphone 15 pro max rn and planning to move to canon r50 but i don't know the low light performance of canon r50 so if you could tell me about it than i shall be very thankful to and and also suggest me a good lens for night food vloging.

    • @WilkinsonCameras
      @WilkinsonCameras Před dnem

      @@abdulhanan6245 oops, forgot to reply to the original lens question! For general vlogging, the Canon RF-S 10-18mm will give a much wider view than the 18-45mm kit lens, BUT as you've mentioned that you want to do night time... it's not best suited to low light as it's quite a "slow" aperture at F4.5-6.3. You could consider the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 (which we review here: czcams.com/video/xJrAwVDUBKs/video.html) which would give the same viewpoint as the lens featured in this R50 review, or Sigma are bringing out an RF-S 10-18mm F2.8 later this year which would probably be perfect. Neither of the Sigma lenses have IS, so I would try to find a review of the R50 with the Sigma 24-50mm to see how this affects the stability for vlogging - it's not a combination we've had chance to test. Same with the low light I'm afraid, haven't tested it properly at night to give you a first-hand definitive answer - although that day we filmed wasn't the brightest of days!

      It is frustrating, the design is very similar to the EOS M50, but the M50 had a bit more room for your thumb and I think this is the issue. When the R50 is refreshed for a Mark II (I don't expect to see this for a while yet, so don't get excited!), I hope they'll address this. But, I do think you will get used to it and you can change how some of the buttons are set (cam.start.canon/en/C011/manual/html/UG-10_Custom_0030.html) so maybe see which you can change and how you get on - thanks for watching ☺

      There’s lots of sample images and video in there to demonstrate the camera being reviewed - but how can we film footage of the camera in use or the camera itself… with the camera? For this to be feasible, we’d have to have two of every camera whenever we review something… and most of the time it’s hard enough getting one. We also can’t have endless cameras and lenses for content creation use... we are a business and like any sensible business we don’t have a bottomless pit of money to buy equipment and have budgets to work within. If you watch the review you’ll see the sections shot on the camera are labelled so you can clearly see which are samples from the review camera. Hope you find the review useful 😊

I think it is not cost effective to spend so much money on R&D and only a small number of users out there buying it. If I were CEO of canon, i would make less expensive camera with higher MP so the majority of regular folks will buy. That way canon can sell more RF lens and bring more people into their ecosystem. I am sure my opinion will be ignored by canon. Seriously, how many people need 140fps or 8K video. My non-mechanical eyes cannot tell the difference between 40 fps and 140 fps and I don't have an 8K TV!!

      Thanks! We wouldn't say it's overkill - it's designed to perform in every setting and you'd really benefit from the register people priority AF and advanced focus, especially for more reportage style wedding photography. Of course you can also switch into video mode to get gorgeous video footage to incorporate as well. Can other cameras with fewer features shoot great weddings? Of course... but this will certainly make it very enjoyable and easy to get great shots and make sure you don't miss the important moments 😊

      To shoot weddings get a camera with a tilt screen and not the side hinged rear screen as it’s too conspicuous, slow and obtrusive. And no wedding photographer has ever needed to shoot themselves during a wedding. It really is about time Canon moved away from this screen and give us a choice!

    • @Snapit551

      @WilkinsonCameras Před 16 dny

      @@davidmurray5926@davidmurray5926 Shooting video alongside stills - particularly vertical video - is especially vital for most professionals today. This is where a fully articulated screen becomes vital. Shooting vertical video on a tilt-only screen is a pain. Most content is now consumed on mobile phones and wedding clients want to share their images as videos, reels, stories of portrait orientation posts... because that's how most pictures are appreciated now. Yes there are two-way tilt screens which offer vertical tilt, but two-way tilt screens tend to be more faffy to use in our experience. So, fully articulated screens offer the most versatility and cater to the largest type of user.

      It will make your life easier. Since you can register faces the camera is less likely to switch focus to some random stranger that passes near the wedding party. With the eye controlled at you can make sure you lock on the right person in a group. It also has a back side illuminated sensor so it should be a lowlight beast. Other features will be great. • @WilkinsonCameras
      @WilkinsonCameras Před 19 dny

      In the very simplest terms it means the R6 Mark II can still auto focus in really low light levels. The EOS R6 Mark II can focus even in very low light, with AF working down to -6.5EV, or the equivalent of approximately the amount of light a half-moon provides. EV means exposure value and it's the end result of the amount of light provided by the aperture and shutter speed combined.
