horrible example of both amps, having played through a spark i can tell you for a fact they sound a million times better than this. still not great but theyre passable. it would help if you tuned your guitar.

Your playing is very good but your right hand is fully tensed. It is better to loosen pinky together with your ring and middle finger. This way you will play a lot smoother and with ease.

Picking is like golf to me. It can never be perfected. It can only be played and (sometimes) enjoyed. Enjoy every plateau because it took many hours of work and effort to get there. Even the best climbers take rests on the way up Everest. The passion to play and improve, and the love of music have been the keys for me over the last 35 years. That always keeps me coming back.

Ehhh...I don't know about some of those breakdowns, particularly with regards to playing live. First off, playing in front of an audience is it's own skill set and it can't be practiced unless you're actually doing it. But just as important, you really don't need to be all that advanced. I play a lot of bar and brewery gigs with a bluegrass band. True, I've played mandolin for over a decade, and have spent thousands of hours practicing, but I am by no means an advanced mandolin player, and will almost certainly never be. Actually, none of us in my band are what I would call advanced, but we're good enough to play gigs competently and get invited back, year-after-year. I don't make a full-time living off it, but I do make several thousand a year in side hustle money. The secret about playing live is that, depending on the venue and what they're expecting, you really only need to be competent to play at that level and often, that level of competence does not need to be advanced.

As a lifetime musician, originally a sax player, Berklee on a scholarship and all, born again musician on guitar, my best advice is about technique and theory. Only learn what you need right now. Don't spend your time doing stuff other say you have to learn. Modes for example; if you don't get it, and it's not useful to you right now, that's for later or never. And if it's something like CAGED you're working on but not really getting it or using it, forget about it.

I've been playing guitar for 17 years, I've played it more in the last year than I have probably in the last 5 years combined, every day I go through completely different thoughts with it, all in the same day.. Why am I wasting my time with this? I should just quit right now and never play it again. Then an hour later I'm going.. I should buy that super expensive custom shop guitar because I'm definitely getting better now. I think my best advice though, don't worry yourself too much on if your getting better or not, just try to enjoy playing it and nothing else, isn't that the entire point of a hobby anyway?

Recently saw someone's video on the interface he was working with made it sound so simple. It was a Volt 1, and Volt 2. I am thinking about possibly trying again with this Volt. Is that Focusrite still hard? Beginner wise.

I’ve been playing for about 6 months now and my skill has sky rocketed because I only play Hendrix songs and my 10+ years experience with piano (same notes). So imo if you have a little bit of music theory then just play the damn thing. I’m ALWAYS playing for hours on end. I work and play until bedtime every day.

I’ve owned guitars for 30 years. Used to think buying a new one would make me better, nope. It takes hard work and practice and PATIENCE. Unfortunately I let them sit for about 10 years without picking up. Now that I’m older and looking forward to retirement, I’ve started again, for about the last 2 years. I get frustrated but not as much the older I am, also it’s a journey that you can always get better at(we will never truly master, but get close). Thanks for the video, obviously we all feel this way from time to time! ROCK ON!!!
