From 1992's F k New York. One of the first West Coast artists to dis East Coast, long before Snoop, Pac, Dre, Cube, etc. Check out the lyric "My peers on the West won't speak up so I will" at 1:18.
DJ Cash Money & Marvelous House Party 1986

A very rare taped performance from Cash Money & Marvelous at a house party (or club?) circa 1986. This is from a second generation copy, so the quality isn't great. Still, a great piece of history for hip hop fans featuring one of the great DJs of our era.

Outstanding
This is a "remaster" that is terrible compared to the original. Fortunately, the original master is available on the Furious Five's "Message from Beat Street" compilation album, and that's the version I play on Spotify whenever I want to jam to this song. (Or, I could also play the original vinyl, which I have. lol)
classic kwaza
HI remember in 2001 on the 11th day of September I bumped this jam in my lowered schoolbus with 800,000 watts pushing 24 21" subwoofers at 5:14 am.

❤❤❤ This music never gets old!!
Still slapping 2023
A west coast back story..... we always would argue who was better, Sugarhill or the Furious 5? It got so crazy at Bret Harte, that we actually got in a fight... literally! And Lawd..... when this song came out.... we started fighting again, because some of us was all for the furious 5, some was for sugarhill. However, when that last line SUGARHILLLLLLLLLLLL hit, everybody hushed & turned that line into a dance. The hood was the hood, but it wasn't as bad then.
Being possessed by the sounds of "SUGARHILLLLLL AH AH ..LOVE IT HISTORY .
I remember these cuts word for word..."Nasty"is a straight classic..Jekyll and Hyde am/pm featuring the late Andre Harrell a.ka.Dr Jekyl..

It's a great funk/dance tune. I'm learning the guitar part. I'll try learning the keyboard part as well. 🎸

funk with a touch of hip hop
One of the best rap-battle cuts ever produced! I was in 10th grade when this came out and me and my homies used to crank this up on our ghetto-blaster! Some of the best years growing up.
The Furious Five & The SugarHill Gang are pure rap groups that ruled the East Coast of NY. The Furious Five Melle Mel and Flash The SugarHill Gang Mike, Hank and Guy RIP Hank
Cedric Martin slappin' that bass.

Absolutely love this version! Beefed up for the dance floor!
Now THIS is hip hop.
My co-workers thought I was crazy when I mentioned this song due to two others co-workers had a little bit of a feud with one another. But we got a good laugh how this pandemic is actually getting to us in retail grocery. 😂
