In 1968, Christopher Nupen founded one of the first (if not the first) independent television production companies in the United Kingdom. Aided by the invention of silent 16mm film cameras, Nupen became the pioneer of a completely new and intimate style, blending documentary and performance on film. He instinctively filmed musicians at close quarters on stage (and backstage), in their natural environment, where they have most to offer. The effects were dramatic and brought countless numbers of people to music for the first time, breaking down the barriers between musicians and the wider public. Over 70 productions, spanning five decades, the Allegro Films music archive is a unique body of work that remembers many of our great artists, as no other medium can equal.
Today, Allegro Films is as busy as ever, under the stewardship of Christopher Nupen’s wife Caroline and the film-maker Matthew Percival.

The list of bossy, choleric conductors is long, just think of Barenboim . Jaqueline du Pré is wonderful, unique, but Barenboim a disgusting guy, all for the career and du Pré had to deal with her MS diagnosis alone. You shouldn't call it a Love Story, that's absolute mockery!!
Georgeous Sonata
Comfort and gracefulness of Kissin’s performance are immeasurable profound and off the charts
Probably truer to Chopins true softer ,delicate physique but yhere is always the angry, disenchanted ,hystericalagitato Chopin. His music is polarized by at least two psychological phenomena the hard extremely discontented Chopin and the giddy, exuberant stylish Parisian who misses Poland and doesnt get Beethoven bad moods but loves the Missa Solemnis. Maybe like every human being every composer is many things.
A great genius God bless his memory
52:40 What is the song
A few people have said to me "You know Al - things have progressed". "Really?" "Show me". ---Better than Segovia? - Whatever you say.... Sorry - I don't buy it...
Semplicemente sublime!
I first saw these two great violinists live in the early 1970s, invariably with the English Chamber Orchestra at the QEH (London) ...
“That little sweat ball just wouldn’t fall off” Rosanne Rosannadanna.
i come back to watch this every couple years and am always stunned. The prolonged (to me compared to most performances) silence between the last note and the applause is telling. I think they knew they had just heard and witnessed greatness and transcendance on a sacred level!

It's striking how small and unsinewy looking his hands are.

Perfekt [apart from that wedding ring]
Extraornidaria interpretación . Un gran pianista..Aplausos
Nowadays, people think Langlang is always showing off his technique? I mean look at this guy!

Someone said "the level of violin playing overall has gone up over the years, but at the top, not that much"
I like to hear how different pianists play the same piece. It’s partly a learning device, especially if I am working on the same piece.
Segovia. He's OK in my book. I don't care what anyone says!!!
He has hands that look like they could bend iron. Not make beautiful, delicate movements.
Ashkenazy is one of my very favorite pianists, ever. I’m not the kind of person who idolizes one artist to the point that I will listen to other artists simply to denigrate them, as I so frequently see with Horowitz and Callas idolizers. I love to hear what others bring to music, and their musical voices, and there are few I will never listen to. But Ashkenazy is special in my opinion….I have yet to hear a live or studio recording that doesn’t dazzle me! I wish him and his wife well in their retirement!
Tras una dolorosa agonía, tras darlo todo, siempre tiene que llegar la calma. Eso es lo que esta chacona significa para mí, gracias Itzhak por interpretar de esa manera tan especial esta partita 🫂
Up to this day, I have no idea how can he play that fast and that firm. For me, that's technically impossible. My hand would be throbbing in pain, even if I managed to play like that. I guess he's just a classical guitar god.
My name is Luciano Millaqueo and I have to say only one thing: The story teller is a fraud, Mr. Astor Piazzolla's life has never been threatened, he wasn't even beaten for his thoughts about tango. Mr. Piazzolla wanted to be seen as a victim of the circumstances, tango culture goes beyond the boundaries of music. It takes some time to understand it.
pure…
Fat fingers and a master
great rendition...top 3 with Richter and Argerich. He's a few seconds slower than they but maintained great tempo and clarity in an encore piece.
Gran ejemplo de vida y superacion
