15 to 25% margin should be your target. If it results in you winning jobs away from your competition, so be it, grow. If you insist on margins like this one, you will fight for scraps and never get ahead.

Gross Revenue - COGS = Gross Profit, is true... BUT, what goes into COGS for that "Slab Project" itself? Concrete - Yes. Formwork - Yes. Rebar - Yes. Labour - Yes. Grounds Preparation - Yes. Post Cure Cleanup - Yes. Advertising - Not Yet... That comes out after Gross Profit! Equipment Rentals - Same. Office Costs - Same. Phone, Internet - Same. Legal, Accounting - Same. Etc!
