Just learned about this track watching an old podcast featuring DMC. I'm 54 and have been educated on this one. HIP-HOP HISTORY AT ITS BEST!!

The coldest of the old school hip-hop jams, Gangsta Blondie killed it. All 4M c's was fired on this.
U Know I'm Old School Cause I got this joint on vinyl in my collection bought it in California in 1980 right after it dropped!!! And hit the West Coast !!!

Did curtis write this for the Reagan Era? Or was he so insightful of this Biden thing in our wallets 🌴😎✌️
The soundtrack to my story.
CHICAAAA DEL BLOG. CHICACHICAAAA DEL BLOG.
First conscious rap song? This proceeds The Message by like 3yrs
I saw this in a rack in School Kids Records in Columbia SC in the early 80s, but never actually heard it until now. No one else was rapping about things like this in those days between The Last Poets and Melle Mel, as most kids at the time was into party rocking and few wanted to hear such serious messages at the tine. After the early 70s, there was a drought of militant message songs among the youth until the rise of Public Enemy and KRS one brought back this sort of thing in the late 80s.
I was a teenager in Charleston SC at the time, and we were always waiting for the new rap records to come down from New York. To my knowledge, this never made it down here, but it was certainly the kind of thing I would have loved back then.
💥🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🏽🤘🏿💥
DEV LARGE MADE SONG OF SERIOUS INJURY BASED ON THIS.

One of the best skating songs. We used to shuffle skate on our Riedell 595 skates to this!
TJ SWANN - ARE YOU READY 1980
TIL: Robert Ford Jr. who produced a lot of Kurtis Blows tracks, was the father of the current Astros Radio Play-by-Play commentator Robert Ford III. i just happened to read the credits earlier, and saw the name and did background check. i never heard of him, but i recognized the name and clicked on it, on a whim. I do remember Ford talking about being from New York and his Dad tho. but not any Kurtis Blow stories lol.
Blowing hard or hardly blowing?
Still this 🔥🔥🔥🔥
