Sea Lullaby - By me and Rudyard Kipling.
I’ve been working on compiling, developing and editing a children’s musical I wrote a few years back for publication consideration. This is part of the story of how the crab got its shell, and is based on the poem Seal Lullaby by Rudyard Kipling.

I figured if the Indigo Girls could sit in their living room with unbrushed hair and sing songs they hadn’t rehearsed in a while, so could i! I did put on a fancy dress tho, cuz where else am I going to wear it right now? Hope this brings you some sunshine today.

I wrote this tune (and counter melody) way back in college... the words came quite a bit later. I made this in Garage Band, and am making all the sounds you hear with my voice or dulcimer - but using some effects and filters. All photos were found in flickr Creative Commons-licensed content. Thank you mystery photographers. Lyrics: Gentle rains, a scepter in bloom Flowers of spring, come help m...

A lovely Shakespeare setting from one of my all-time favorite films. Please excuse the dewy-glow. It is August, after all. No infringement intended.

I've had a block about making a new video for several months now. I've had a lot of changes in my life, and I wanted to do a video that symbolized the changes. But it got too big in my head, and I just can't do it yet. I thought maybe singing a song that I've known and loved forever, just to re-break the ice, might be good. This is one of my favorite songs of all time, and now that I'm not a te...

A tribute, mostly, to my 12 year old self who recorded this in a mall studio. Stick around and you'll hear a clip at the end. Ironically, I have a lot of the same vocal issues now as I did then - the current ones being caused by teaching 12 year-olds.

This is for everyone who has been asking for a dulcimer camera angle. Here you go. :) Not a great take, it was about the 8th one and my fingers were getting tired near the end, so there are some mistakes. Love the song tho...

I first heard this song many years ago, at a Cherish the Ladies concert, with Aoife Clancy singing lead, and was mesmerized by the brilliant blending of this fantastic old poem (Yeats) and this fantastic old slipjig. I've always wanted to do a tribute, and over winter break, actually had some time to really tackle it - and it requires tackling. My hat's off to the Joanie Madden and the Ladies f...

I learned this version of the old English carol from The Black Brothers. I loved the challenge of finding all the harmonies! I'm excited to announce that it is part of Yuletide, a Christmas album that is now available as a digital download at Amazon: www.amazon.com/Yuletide/dp/B004CYJ70E/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1290346131&sr=8-6 AND iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/patapan/id405136833?i=4051368...

Beautifully done, Sarah. Good to know the light still burns.
Excellent performance! Good to hear a real voice with no electronic cheating :-)
It's "lip sync" or "lip synch." It is an abbreviation for "lip synchronization." This is quite beautiful.
Lovely!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. :)
Hmmm... I'm not exactly sure what to say here. Perhaps you're confused because there is harmony. You'll notice I have an earbud in. I recorded the dulcimer part, then recorded the main vocal while filming. Finally I recorded the harmony part (also my voice) and finalized the mix and synched it to the video I took while I sang the main track... so I guess it is synched, but it's all legit. :)
wonderful. What a great memory.
I live in NY and I am 8 yrs old and my Daddy played this for me and it was beautiful. My eyes got moist for the emotions this song aroused in my heart.
This was my lullaby from my mom when I was very young. She used to sing it to me every night. She doesn't like to anymore and I'm older now but I love listening to this song before I go to sleep. I love your voice. It's not too young sounding or old sounding (if that makes sense) it's just a comforting sound. Thank you for making this video. I really appreciate it
You have a nice voice :)
My favorite lullaby and carol. Thank you so much for this ! Your voice is /amazing/ !!! xoxo
Hi Chris - It's my favorite pattern, and the same one I use for Caledonia. I'm not sure what my dulcimer was tuned to, so it may not be the right key, but here you go: C G Am F C G Am F Am G Am F C G G F
