    I have a virtual pinball cabinet and I run pinup popper on that. I have a Quest 2 .. if I decide to try popper on VR should I create a separate area on my hard drive (maybe a different hard drive) for the VR popper so I don’t mess my settings up for my cabinet ?

  • @JCatNY
    @JCatNY Před dnem

    Great tutorials, thanks! !I'm a veteran with VPinball/Future Pinball, and have been running successfully in VR Rooms and Hybrids, but for the life of me, I can't get pup packs to work in VR. It's been a week of trying every freaking suggestion, and nothing works. I have one monitor and I use a dummy hdmi plug for a fake monitor #2 (you need this for Future Pinball Pup tables from Terry Red). All the correct options are checked, but my pups always land on the monitor, but not in VR. Any ideas?

    • @chipgt81
      @chipgt81 Před dnem

      @JCatNY is using external backglass is checked in vr options? My cabinet uses three monitors and displays pups. I can hook up my quest 3 to the cabinet launch vpxgl and the pups display in vr and on my cabinet. If it still isn't working, it could be your gpu. I have a gtx 3050 on my test rig and amd 6500 in my cabinet. The 6500 struggles with more than 3 monitors, and I have to turn off the dmd and backglass monitors off to get it to work. Leave them connected just turn them off. If none of that works it may be a setting in the software or software version you are using. Try a reinstall of the software or an earlier. Build. I'm still rocking the 10.8 beta 5 build in my cabinet. When testing later builds, I lose features like color dmds and pup packs. Hope this helps.

  • @SOCIALCREDITSCOREOVER

    When I try to play in VR it displays the game in 2d in the bottom left corner of the headset. Anyone have any idea what I did wrong? Using the reverb G2 and VPX 10.8.0 beta 8

    • @chipgt81
      @chipgt81 Před 4 dny

      @SOCIALCREDITSCOREOVER Make sure steam vr is running properly in you headset first. If not it's a compatibility issue with your headset. If it is make sure you are running the gl version of the vpx software. 10.8.xgl.exe Not 10.8.x.exe. that is more than likely your issues if not try running an earlier version of the software like beta 5.

      @SOCIALCREDITSCOREOVER Beta 5 is my all-around to go to right now for pc, cabinet, VR modes. It works great with all three. Later, release you loose various features like color dmds or vr support or the require betas of pinup popper and other software. I will test out the next canadate release when it drops and do an update video if it works with all three modes I play in.

      @@chipgt81 Thx... I think ive got a New mission for now. 😉 Do you know, whats the maximum of LEDs per port for the WEMOS D1?

    • @chipgt81
      @chipgt81 Před 2 měsíci

      @Affenkopp-uq6kp I don't think there is a maximum number for adressable rgb leds a single channel. The dumb rgb leds are all on one color at a time, which is what eats channels and why most controllers support 8 ports at a minimum. They are an older tech. For adressable rbg leds, it is more what your power supply can provide power to. This is where the calculator i talk about comes in handy. The max I have run is 556 on a single channel. That's my matrix, lefT, and right playfield. I have seen no issues or delays. However, you may be limited on the number of effects that can be processed and sent out on a channel. I run 4 effects on my matrix, 4 on the right playfield, and 3 on the left. Ranging from animated plunger to flashers and strobes. It's better to mix effects using the dof tool. If you add too many effects for different features like speakers, underglow, back glow, matrix, and playfield, you may see lag or choppy lights. I never pushed the limits to find out. The d0 and d1 mini have 8 channels. To me, it just makes sense to split up features based on location. Plus, if you add a switch on the power line positive, you can turn off sections of lights if you don't want them on. I mean, you have 8 channels. Why not use them... if you want them all on one channel, that's fine too. It is the same amount of work to install, configure, and set them up in the software.

    So when using baller installer do I set it up to use one monitor? I’ve only used baller installer to setup my 3 monitor cabinet.

    • @chipgt81
      @chipgt81 Před 2 měsíci

      Depending on your hardware and how many displays your gpu can support at one time. It really doesn't matter how baller is set up. I use mine with my 3 monitor cabinet and on a seperate test pc with one monitor. If you are going to use a cabinet, you may want to power off the dmd and backbox monitors when using vr for better performance. You will just need to play with settings to see what works best for you.

    Is it possible to change an environment from a black void to GREEN? With virtual display i think it would be pretty cool to bring a table in mixed reality through passthrough. if i find a color my table doesnt have i should be able to achieve this

    • @chipgt81
      @chipgt81 Před 2 měsíci

      Are you talking about a non configured vr room table, the black nothingness? If so, yes. You can create a basic two wall, floor and ceiling vr room and under textures make them whatever color you want. Check out my video in building a vr room here. czcams.com/video/2bBw_-Tm7rI/video.htmlsi=ZqOaEZne4LFPwWNy All you would need is the walls, really. Instead of using the pictures, you can create a material that is whatever color you want and apply it to the walls. Even for a table that has vr, you can create a new vr option called a green room or something to make that work. Unfortunately, you would need to do this for every table you want. If you're still unsure, email me at casualgameralg@gmail.com and I can help you through making a green room. The only thing I'm not sure how to set up is the pass through. Maybe a 30 min job per table once you know what you're doing.

    • @FoxoticTV
      @FoxoticTV Před 2 měsíci

      @@chipgt81 Thank you for the candid response. If you want to try this, Virtual Desktop has a passthrough option you can turn on by selecting a color to mask which allows the mixed reality gameplay.

    • @FoxoticTV
      @FoxoticTV Před 2 měsíci

      that's what I WILL do once I figure out the basic room thing it's pretty in depth , would have to dedicate an afternoon to figure it out unless you'd be interested in making a room. I'd say getting a sphere mesh with a material color variable would make the most sense

    • @FoxoticTV
      @FoxoticTV Před 2 měsíci

      First check to make sure it works on another confirmed vr room puppack like the one I show. It's the same install that you would do with non vr. However, not every table is configured for vr. Check the script for rv room settings. If there aren't any, then it won't work without you building it yourself the vr room yourself. It's about a 4 hour process. I have a video on how to build a vr room in my vpx vr series. That or search for a version of the table in vr. They can be hard to find. I recommend the table spreadsheet tool on vp universe. If there are settings, make sure the two checkboxes for external backglass and dmd are set. Check this video at the 24:30 marker.

      @adrianoparrotta I used airlink over my my wifi for a week and experienced similar issues. If you are using your wifi router, make sure the connection is 5Ghz. Also, make sure it is set to dynamic. And the slider is to the right. Keep in mind the flow of traffic that is happening and the amount of information between all the software and hardware. It won't be perfect. For a more stable connection, you can try the wifi bridge. I have not tried this due to cost. I have had the most success with a wired connection. Sometimes, there is blackout along the edges as I move my head, but it is rock solid. Also the cables are not as expensive as the bridge. See the video links for the cables I use. Actually, yes, you may be able to. I is pretty recent, but there is now a tool that allows you to use your VR controllers to emulate gamepads or virtual steering wheels to control non VR games. I haven't tried it myself yet, and it costs $30 on Steam. I'm looking for an alternative, but if you want to give it a try, you can get it here. You may need a controller to keyboard emulator too. here : percnops.com/

      It's a common problem I covered in my first video. 1. Make sure you are using Vpx version 10.8 beta 5 2. Not all tables are configured for vr. Check the script and see if there is a vr room setting. If not, the table you are trying to play has not been set up for vr play. I just released two videos this weekend that cover how to setup a vr room. You can also Search for a table that says the vr room in the name or on the database page of the vpuniverse here: virtual-pinball-spreadsheet.web.app/ There may be a vr room version available. 3. Remove your table specific b2s file if you are using one from your tables folder. 4. Watch min marker 24:34 of my first video. Here: czcams.com/video/zAl1LlCCk3s/video.htmlsi=N5Qs1YthPBWhh1Z7 There are two boxes you need to check. Open vr settings Check capture external dmd and capture external backbox. 5. This should cover all the issues that may apply to you and hopefully fix your problem. If not, send me the link to the table you are trying to play. If this fixes your issue, enjoy.

      It could be a few things, but i suspect it is a combination of different software versions. What version of vpx and Popper and dmd are you running? I haven't been using the batapaloza baller installer. I recommend vpx version 10.8 beta 5 no higher till issues are resolved. This may trip an error stating the game was built on a later version. Just save the table for version 10.8 beta 5, and that will go away. You can install the latest popper and dmd software. This is probably the issue. Also try disableing the color dmd check box and only check puppacks to troubleshoot what may be causing the issue. Then switch the check boxes. This will let you know what software is giving you a hard time could be both. Let me k ow if this helps.

      @clementrousseau9431 Not all tables are configured for V/R. I have had the best results with ones that say vr room in the title. You can use the spreadsheet tool on vp universes to find the table you want and filter all tables to see the ones that work in vr. Some tables will have script options for vr, and you will need to check. Just to make sure it's not a software issue, let's troubleshoot with the avitar table i know works for me. Click here. vpuniverse.com/files/file/6408-avatar-stern-2012oqqsanmod/ Don't forget the rom, dmd, and pup. Save the files as you would for non vr tables Vpx table file to tables folder Alt Dmd to alt color folder Pup to video file Connect your headset, open steam, launch steam vr, Open vpxgl make sure you have both check boxes enabled for external dmd and backglass. Launch the table. Press num pad 5 to center. 5 key to coin in, 1 to start, enter to launch ball, left/ right shift for flipper. Or whatever you may have set your keys to. You should be able to see the pup pack running. Alt color dmd you may need to press F1 and enable color dmd. If not let me know what it says, and we will continue troubleshooting.

      I'm a little confused with what you're asking. Are you in the media manager trying to add a wheel image for adams family and Getting an 1.1 404 not found? 404 codes are tags to servers, and not finding what you're looking for. It could be a broken link, or the file was removed. Try downloading the wheel image directly from vpin universe here. vpuniverse.com/files/file/17075-the-addams-family-bally-1992-wheel/ Then drag and drop it onto the wheel box.

Thanks for your help!

    • @chipgt81
      @chipgt81 Před 5 měsíci

      @dirkdex that should work as long as you're connected to the internet. Also once you click the wheel box look in the upper right corner of the box and make sure it is searching for the correct name. Sometimes the name is wrong. Then check to see if it finds other tables? Try searching for Avengers in that search box or another table and see if you're still getting the error. If so you may need to reinstall the baller installer. Before doing that Search for Gilligan, or gil in the search box. If you don't want to do a reinstall. I looked on vp universe and found this wheel. vpuniverse.com/files/file/13891-gilligans-island-bally-1991-wheel/ you can also download it then drag, and drop it on the box.

    Hi! Thanks for the video. Niwak/Vbousquet developed the Frame Pacing sync system used in VPX 10.8 because he noticed the flipper lag in VPX 10.7. I worked with him to test it. If your system is well set up, as you explained, then any additional flipper lag in VPX 10.7 (and 10.8 if you don't use Frame Pacing) is linked to your monitor refresh rate. You will have more input lag on a 60 hz monitor (about 16 ms more), compared to e.g. a 165 hz monitor (about 8 ms). What Frame Pacing in VPX 10.8 does is to decouple flipper lag from your monitor refresh rate. If you use the DirectX version of 10.8, then your additional flipper lag is already much reduced to about 2 ms, while if you use the OpenGL version, your additional input lag is almost negligent at 0.1 ms. Frame Pacing also improves stability if your fps on a table varies i.e. struggling to maintain 60 fps on a 60 hz monitor. Here is the Frame Pacing document that I wrote based on Niwak's input and explanations as he developed it. docs.google.com/document/d/1vPb0u3jkt-Yf1pyStEQgfE9ypHRX9Ie9z6IdfotxwIQ
