Bellringing at Scunthorpe
The church of St John Evangelist was built by the late Victorians as part of a new town growing around the new iron industry. The population shifted away and it became redundant in the 80s. It was then turned into an arts centre at the millennium.
The bells are a 17cwt ring of 8 dating from just before Taylors got the hang of harmonic tuning. Thus they are similar sounding to Imperial College in London.

Hello! I haven't rung much at all in the last few years, and it's only by chance that I had the opportunity to make this video. I stayed in a hotel nearby and on Sunday morning wandered across to the church, where I remembered from Lincolnshire Bells and Bellfounders that two bells hung in the tower. It turned out that the bells are very much still in use and I was invited to ring them by the w...
The Kelvingrove Organ, Glasgow: Iain McGlinchey

The daily concert at Kelvingrove opens with some form of rendition of the tune Kelvingrove, this is the finale of that opening piece. It was great to hear this instrument again, it has a glorious presence and attracts a large and fascinated audience. I'm sure I'll be back on another trip to Glasgow to hear more.
Once In Royal David's City - Organ

After some tuning at a church in Leicestershire, Mr Heslop gives the instrument a brief tryout including the wonderful 8ft Trumpet for the second verse. Videoed on my phone, partly as an experiment to see how it handles recording organ music.
The Medieval Bell of St Mary Magdalene, Wyken, Coventry

Until the 20th Century the small farming community of Wyken and its ancient church were separate from the expanding city of Coventry. Then houses were built within the parish and it was incoporated into the city. To cope with the expansion of the parish, a modern church was built right next door to this one in the 1950s, both are still in use for services by the same congregation. This is actua...

Chiming the bells here after a wedding. The connections and hammers are all veritably knackered so this Ellacombe is hard work!! The superb octave were cast and hung in 1905 by Taylors.

This footage was created on a tour about 10 months ago now! Even though the sound quality is not great I've decided to put it up as there is not much other footage of the full 12 at Leicester Cathedral. This was originally a parish church, and was made the cathedral of the new Leicester Diocese in the early 20th century. The building is essentially medieval though fully restored and the magnifi...
Stedman Cinques at Melbourne in Derbyshire

Melbourne is a picturesque small market town in south Derbyshire. The spectacular Norman church has a central tower which contains 12 bells. The heaviest eight were cast in the late 19th century by John Taylor & Co of Loughborough, and were augmented and hung in a new frame in 1996. Here is the band which practises twelve bell ringing here every month

In front of the tenor! lol!
What church was this.
These are my 3rd favourite ring of bells in York.
i think you already know but the bells are gonna get new fittings and a attempt at tuning some of the bells but they sound just fine like this because of historical reasons and hung somewhere else
Who cast these bells.
The hour bell sound like the town hall in Leeds.
Notes Quarter bells F# A# G# C# Hour bell B
I feel like it’s not very often you’ll hear 12 bells on half muffles.
The video just got muted
The audio works fine
The largest tenor I’ve seen so far
That woman had trouble with that tenor there😂
In what way?
It got unstable
One thing I don’t get is why did the old steel bells have two trebles that sound the same it just doesn’t seem right.
@@SantaRudolph-ef6lv because the notes changed when the bells rusted
@@irkibby ok.
@@irkibby well I’m starting to learn to ring at a church called St. George’s in Hyde greater Manchester.
does this remind you guys the bells of the University of Washington? they sound kinda familiar, and similar
The old bells don’t sound the best for bell ringing.
Was here today for the tour of peak caverns, heard the clock chimes, genuinely thought they were steel 😂
@@OwenSimmons323 haha yeah, they definitely have that kind of sound!
This bell hasn’t got a rope.
So in the beginning of the video when you were outside those were the bells of St Swithun.
Sound just like Worcester cathedral.
Strike tone: e°.
If it is a town hall why does it have church bells in I’m just confused.
They're not church bells
What I notice with St Martins bells is that they sound like a higher pitcher version of Worcester cathedrals.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 D D not D C#.

'God Save the Queen?' Well he made a reyt bollocks o' that!
Perpendicular in its best.
Frightful bells: out of tune and terribly tinny. A classic cacophony and I pity those who live within earshot of them!
The worst ring of 12 that I've ever heard!
This bell's now an entire century old as of 2024, I'm posting this in February but this year IS indeed it's centennial. Last year was Petersglocke's centennial... Next year will be the centennial of York Minster's change ringing belfry, in 2027 Great Peter of York Minster's centennial, in 2028 the 150th for the change ringing belfry in St Paul's cathedral...
🎉
Is it written in tamil
R.I.P Colour camera
Do you know how you film the bell tower of all these churches and cathedrals you go to do you get extremely special permission.
So let me guess this correct the bells that chime the hour are the old bells that used to be the church bells for the church.
That's right
And at the beginning you showed the old bells from the outside of the church then you show the inside of the bells now.
