Good job.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing 🍃🍂
If you find that the paint does not last, look for the black pipe fittings next time or make sure your paint can stick to galvanized. Many paints cannot stick to zinc because they react forming a slippery zinc compound between the metal and paint. You could also remove the zinc, but the painted fittings are probably easier to begin with.
Good to know!
Looks like garbage. Also the wood filler you did around the outlet looks like a 3rd grader stuck some playdough on it. This might as well be the redneck "good enough" channel.
Is this good to go over regular interior paint? Painted some work desks that I’m concerned will start to peel and want to prevent that
Yes!
@@RepurposeandUpcycle wooo!
SW All Surface Enamel? Lol. Thats not remotely close to even a trim paint. Its DTM
Will they also work for small object like wooden puzzles because i have tons of them both old and brand new and i want to change the colors?
Not sure I've never tried a small object. Test it out!
Awesome job❤
I believe stripwell says to us a soaked steel wool sponge
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me I’m making some wood bottle openers that mount onto the wall most likely outdoors now I paint the wood. I use a vinyl decal just to make a template and I paint the logo also but I want something to seal it? I used the other day and it came out too glossy. It was a satin finish. I just don’t know if I should buy a spray in a matte finish and spray that over. I just want something to seal.
So you didn’t have to do have mortising? I’m wanting to do the same thing with my bifold doors but don’t want to have to do any chiseling 😂
I a refurbishing a house where there is an old high quality teak staircase. Can you turn the red toned teak into oak color to match the new floors?
I assume the teak has been stained a red tone. Sounds like your best option is to sand the teak down a little and use a different colored stain. For a high traffic surface like stairs, whatever you do, you need to make sure the finish is durable and will last. Using a color wash over a previous stain probably isn't the best option in this situation.
The tannins in the wood will leach out making your white wash yellow! A shellac primer is needed before you paint on raw wood.
I had this worry as well, but you can’t prime the piece before a paint wash as the wood won’t absorbed the paint wash. That’s what I was told. It would be like primer wood before trying to stain it.
I did wonder about this but so far so good, no color change. I guess the best solution would be to use a tinted primer that is diluted. Time will tell.
Absolutely. Unless you water down a tinted primer and use that instead of paint.
pretty sure oven cleaner is used on painted furniture to remove paint not stained and lacquered pieces?
oven cleaner will strip the layers off, not necessarily just paint.
Did you link what you bought?
yes I linked what I bought in the comments
Valspar oil spays amazingly when thinned 20%.
Good to know.
I am putting this on my front door. I normally use minwax stain for everything but lowes strongly recommended this as my front door takes a beating from the weather. I called several lowes for advice and then called valspar. Valspar has a specific door/trim stain but for my purpose they recommended the stain that you used. Thanks for your video
Exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to replace the doors to my furnace room. Excellent tutorial. Thanks.
Great! Good luck with your project.
@@RepurposeandUpcycle Thank you.
Went with a crème/oatmeal colored “ Advanced” and it’s been incredible, raves from the friends/easy clean up and worth the price. Gotta sand/clean/treat the wood/prime properly/allow proper curing time. Take your time..
How much of it did you use to get those results? Wondering how far the product goes to decide how much to buy!
So is it possible to do a wet wash look with am oil based paint? Could you use paint thinner and wipe?
You are right, all these products that say you don’t have to sand or use primer, I still sand and use a primer, painting is one of those things that there just doesn’t seem to be any shortcuts or easier ways to do it that get the job done better than the tried and true ways experience is the best way to speed things up a bit and it gets easier the more you do it . The best shortcut is a good HVLP or airless sprayer in which, with either of those surface prep is key, the better you prepare the surface the better spraying results you get
great video. shows the big points thanks
Which color paint was this??
Cashmere!
Great video! Nice work!
It doesn't look like the stain took
Wanted to watch so badly but banjo is so loud the video become frantic reign to listen to your advice. Had to stop. Pity
Oh My Gawd. Enough of the banjo playing. Either fade it out completely or turn it down once you begin to speak. So annoying.
before the wood filler turns rock solid you can cut it with a knife, use a Surform planer (cheese grater) to trim, chisels, gouges, whatever to shape it
Nice work! I'm currently building and installing cabinets in my pantry. I planned for the Vivor blind corner pull out system like yours. I like the idea of the REV A SHELF 2 TIER PULL OUT you've added. Both pull out systems require a minimum 15 3/4" (roughly) opening. I'm thinking if the cabinet double door opening is 32", I should be able to make the 2 systems work together? If you don't mind, would you tell me the opening size of your cabinet? Thank you!
Thank you for this ! I saw the duvet clips online but they are pricey and had pretty bad reviews. Glad I came across your video 😊
I hope it works for you!
Creatively helpful!
Don't listen to anything this Woman is saying She hasn't read the label on these cans you can't get 2 Coats to dry in 1 day and she's using out of the can based tone Colors of white not the Colors of white that they're capable of coming and/or the LR ratings for them
Thank you! Very helpful!
You're welcome!
Benjamin Moore Advance is one of the best, I would argue the best, self leveling paints I’ve found before you start getting into the professional grade, hard to find paints that require expensive paint sprayers. If you read the label, you’re supposed to wait 16 hours before re-coating. It’s because there are additives that slow the dry time which it what allows it to self level. Paints that dry too fast never have a chance to level. It’s also recommended to wait at least a week to allow it to fully cure before sliding stuff across it. This more so comes into play for shelving. Cabinets doors and side panels don’t have that problem. The key is to get the paint on, and resist the urge to keep brushing or rolling it. The more you mess with it, the more brush strokes or roll marks that have to level. I’ve heard Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethans is great also. Based on some comparisons I’ve seen, it doesn’t level as well so this does better sprayed.
this looks fabulous. so many file cabinets at the surplus store, perhaps I'll get bold. btw, I love your video and instruction style, great work!
Can you put the pot outside once dry
Yes! I sprayed a clear sealer on it and it's held up well.
This is what i was looking for, great job. You have me sold, i tore up vinyl because its awful in Florida, so now i have concrete, and i want simple simon, im hoping vocs don't get out of control.
I'm not entirely sure about the chemical VOC's, but the smell wasn't bad at all.
Looks good, want to see application
@RepurposeandUpcycle Thank you for your video! Our project went great and it is os much better than our old bi-fold doors. Wish I could attach a picture :)
Awesome! I'm so glad to hear that.
Great video! As a woman I appreciate the simple explanation.
Your video socks
Yes! Our bifold doors are always always off the track! Going to give this a shot!
It worked for us!
Hi! Are you supposed to first prime the piece you are paint washing? Thank you. 😊
No, because in this case you want the grain to show through.
This is great! Thanks for the detail and tips as we go through the video. 😊
Great! Hope your doors turn out well.
How long to leave the easy off on the wood before u take it off
I normally wait 30 minutes
Rock the tool .
You seemed to get good results with the citrus except for what was left. Do you think the oven cleaner used as a 2nd clean method would take off the smeared residue? I know you don't want to go down to bare wood with oven cleaner. It will discolor the wood. OK if you're going to repaint it but then why would you completely strip it?
Yes the oven cleaner would work great as a second clean method actually and I have since used it as that!
24 hours is not enough time for paint to cure. The scratch test is flawed because the paint is not cured.
Thank you for your video, I appreciate the comparison. I use beeswax as my primary finish on pens and rings I turn, but I’ve been trying to figure out how I can incorporate that with furniture I build, i saw the daddy vans beeswax and it seems similar to the beeswax I use with my pens and I’m glad to see how easy it was for you to apply it.
Thanks for watching!
