Great review, i like the car a lot. I believe the reason for the lack of B mode coming to a stop is that some drivers werent using their brakes at all, and they were ceasing up due to lack of use.
It is of course a possibility. It's just an extremely nice feature to have in many competing cars. Some other electric cars also use the mechanical brakes to come to a complete stop...
@@jimirosa yes I have an Ix3 and I use B mode a lot, great for local driving, saves the brakes and also gives you back some miles. Win win

I hate that big black splodge at the front. Renault got the Scenic right at front. Just reduced the depth by 6in by doing a lighter design.
Battery warranty: good luck proving that you have <70% range. How? Battery warranties for EVs are essentially useless.
Far fewer electric cars than predicted have had problems with the battery. In fact, in Denmark we now see electric taxis that have driven more than 600,000 kilometers on the same battery pack. The few cars that have been challenged have had the batteries replaced under warranty, if they were still covered. Aviloo is a good method to test batterypacks

@@jimirosa I just read the Mercedes battery warranty. It’s unfortunately not nearly as rosy as you wrote above. First of all, any decision to replace or repair is strictly up to MB. They even select how to measure the capacity/performance of the used battery. Then there is a Long list of exclusions that could render the warranty null, such as driving over curbs, any type of accident or even the car being hit by anything. It’s clearly solely up to MB. I wouldn’t count on anything being done. 600k km must be a very small group. Just like with a gas car, you can keep a car on the road indefinitely if you’re will to take care of it and spend the money.

As an inveterate car geek with lots of kilometers in many different cars (also the enormously fun ones), what I convey in the video is my conviction...
@@jimirosa thats fine, you can be a car geek and never been in an S class or a Bentley...ultimately you can say whatever you want, its your channel but to say that, this car is better than many other highly expensive ultimate fossil fuel luxury car seems to be an ignorant statement.
@@trilingualkid I own an EQS, I also have driven an S-Class, and also a G-Class and I enjoy the drive in the EQS much more than the other 2. Also, I don’t think it’s fair to compare this car to “highly expensive fossil fuel luxury cars”, they are on a completely different level.

I agree that the range is quite poor. But I actually think that the perceived quality of the car feels high.
This 7y warranty is great but it's a list with several things that's limited to 1-7y. But the main / expensive thing is 7y.

The thing about the temperature is fixed. It was a software error showing 5 degrees too much. So 26 in the display was really 21. On mine now 21-22 is ok in the Norwegian winter with -14 outside.

You should compare the Maybach EQS 680 not the 580 to the Maybach GLS. First reviewer I have seen that says Burmester is mediocre.
The 680 Mayback had not been launched when the video was recorded. Regarding my assessment of Burmester, I still mean what I say in the video.
I got a EQS 580 sedan as a loaner from my dealership and absolutely love it. Would buy Mercedes quality and supreme interiors over Tesla any day. Smooth ride, fantastic torque, and fast. The massive screens, lighting, and massage are amazing. Downsides are these are incredibly heavy and don’t stop or corner all that well

It's actually not that hard to get the hood open. And the Burmester-System is just AWESOME, just do the settings right.
You're right. Opening the bonnet is not a huge challenge. However, it requires more than just pulling a handle and Mercedes expresses that it is not for the ordinary user to be interested in what is out there. As for the sound system, I'm unfortunately not that impressed. I come from a Tesla with a clearly superior sound system which is also standard. More linear, more transparent and far more punch
@@jimirosa I have been driving my EQS 450+ Sedan now for 1 year and 10 months or just right now over 165500 km here in Sweden. I found the handle to open the hood easy. I have driven many cars with Bowers & Willkins, B&O and Burmester, teslas soundsystem vs those are nothing imo. Now I don't know which version you hade in this EQS 580 SUV you tested. There are 2 versions. I have in my 450+ th Burmester 3D Surround. I listen to every kind of music from Bach to very demanding Dark Goa Psycedelic Trance. And it perform amazing! As I said it's all in the settings in th Customize-options.

My friend took a 32 grand black MG model in Scotland.. it’s fine … the trunk/boot is too small for my liking … they are fast .. and charge fast … you can get these in Scotland via Mobility for disabled and elderly … a Two grand upfront payment..for the long range model … Technology of cars is moving faster … stopping noise …petrol and diesel contaminants …will help clean up cities dramatically… now we look at clean Electricity Production and sadly oil dependency of Arab nations will render them …. Poorer … when oil is not in high demand… Bless

Isn't 3 dB experienced as double the sound? Quite a lot actually.
Yes and no. 3 db is a doubling of the power required to produce the sound. A perceived doubling will approach 8-10 db

I drove the Nissan, and it has a few issues that made me go with the Skoda Enyaq instead. The armrest is too wide, can't be raised and has 0 storage except for the phone. The Nissan also lacks on a decent spot to place your left foot while driving. While not major issues it was really bugging me and the Skoda didn't bother me at all, a very pleasant drive. It was a close call in the end, but the test drive made me switch from Nissan to the Skoda.

Hi Jimi I think the reason for the e-pedal not going to a complete stop is so you use your brakes a little because there have been problems with people not using brakes for a long time then when needing them they are seized up.
It is very plausible. It's just a shame, as it destroys quite a bit of the comfort of one pedal drive, as you have in Polestar and Tesla…
Brakes are for braking, plus the creeping is great in long slow moving queues & you can rest your accelerator right foot or in EU left foot?

@@jimirosa Thank you for the update! Are you aware of any changelogs for these updates? I'm conscious that if the car decides to stop abruptly because it thinks there's an obstacle ahead we could get rear ended by a car following us. This would just be unacceptable... Is it possible to disable this by default? I'm concerned that my wife would take the car, forget to disable and get in one of those situations and panic
