I like to think of the German Empire as the "German Golden Age" because at the time they were undoubtedly the strongest nation in terms of army strength (although the Kaiser's cousin still ruled the waves). They had a few colonies and trading ports as well. The Germans were finally united under one flag, and I'm sure that's what they wanted in the end. Even after losing two huge wars, suffering an economic crisis, and being split in half for almost fifty years, the German fatherland and its people were always determined to defy the odds. Even though we were on opposite sides of both world wars, Germany really deserves credit for being a wonderful country through even the toughest of times. Long live the German fatherland!
