What's the plan with the car for the future? The chassis seems to be in good enough shape to work with. My 72 DS21 was completely rotted in the rear, and I've managed to weld it back together.
THANKS FOR SHARING!! Super helpful content, especially how you talk through your thought process as you go. I'm going through the same process with my 65 Slough ID19, here in Auckland. Mine won't turn over though. Tried filling the cylinders with diesel! Any advice on trying to free it up, or should I try and find another engine? Motor and rest of car is super original...
sounds like you need to whip the head off and see what is going on if its that seized unfortunately

Il faut vraiment se faire une piqûre tout les matin pour un Anglais pour s'attaquer au fleuron de la technologie automobile française. Mon père tu lui donne une DS ou CX C'est direct à la ferraille, quand j'étais jeune il me disait toujours de ne pas en ramener une !😂😂😂 Lui il roule en Range Classic Diesel 😉
La Citroën c'est l'idéal pour tracté un porte voiture. Tu aurais dû inverser 😂 C'est quoi comme Range ? Un V8 ou comme chez moi des VM diesel ?
Beaucoup de travail pour restaurer cette ID, mais c'est émouvant...
I would use the chisel method on the old type of spheres. Or use a handy tool for oilfilter cartridges. Or you loosen the screw and the Clip, take out the complete assembly and mount a new rubber cuff too.
I only use a chisel on the throw-away modern spheres. The metal is very soft and you can chisel huge amounts away before they come loose (at least that has been my experience!). I've never found an oil filter tool that clamps as tight as a strap wrench without breaking :)
