Napoleon, MI 2001-SRNB Full Attack - 2/3/24
Another 2001 siren test in Jackson. Just as we thought we had Jackson county figured out, we arrived at this SRNB at Napoleon High School to find a mysterious white box. Upon further investigation, it appears to be a Prism-IPX MPSC-1 siren controller, installed by local Michigan communication company Tele-Rad. If you're asking yourself, "well what the hell does that mean?" you're probably not alone. The MPSC-1 to my knowledge is the only siren controller approved for use on the Michigan P-25 network (MPSCS). Jackson County upgraded all of their sirens to run on the P25 network, so that is the equipment they went with.
As a result of this upgrade, it appears Jackson county goes for a full 3 minute attack now instead of the old 2 minute alert.

Caught wind on Facebook that Findlay would be delaying their test to the second Monday of the month since the first Monday in January was a holiday. Monthly test of the Lucas county siren system. This 130 is located at Homecoming Park off Angola Rd. it used to be further east just up the road at the Springfield Township building but was moved to the park to make room for a roundabout. Sirens in Lucas County are tested on the first Friday of the month at 12 noon and run 1 minute of alert.

Well this was a first. Obviously since SJC loves their roadside sirens in trees it looks like this rotator finally gave out after the first rotation. You can see from the scratches on the horn and the intake box, it's worn down to bare metal so it's obviously been doing this for awhile. Still had my rental car for the week (since Jiffy Lube screwed up my oil change) so I decided to head out for Lucas county. This 2T22 is at the Springfield Township fire department in the western part of Lucas County. There are many videos of this 2T22 but decided to put the ol' Noie and Burns spin on it and get some trees in the shot. Sirens in Lucas County are tested first Friday at noon.

Finally a new 130 in Elkhart county. Over the summer of '23 I saw the city of Goshen purchased a new 130 to cover the city's east side. Finally got the perfect cloudy day to go record it. Siren is located on E Lincoln Ave at the corner of 29th St. Sirens in Goshen are tested every Thursday at 2pm

Needed an updated HD video of this since my last video of this was over 11 years ago. Since then SJC no longer does fast wail for a minute but now does 3 minutes of alert. Siren is located just south of the my old church on Birch Rd just south of Adams. All 67 sirens in SJC are tested on the first Thursday at 11:30am.

Headed out on a first Tuesday to a relative close town in Illinois. Settled on the SRNB at the police station since it's one of the sirens that hasn't been recorded yet. Another positive thing about Glenwood is that they do a full three minutes while other places only do a minute. Sirens are tested first Tuesday at 10am. Glenwood has a couple of other 2001s, an STH10 and A 3T22.

Hadn't been to a Monroe County test in a while so what better time in December when there's nothing better to do. This was 2 days after Christmas so luckily the college was still on winter break. Bedford township is tied into Monroe County and tested the last Wednesday of the month at 10am. This particular SRN is located off Lewis AVE. at the Monroe County Community College.

So exactly 6 years ago to this date (12/16/17) Noie, Bill and myself all went to Stroh for the first time. I was never really happy with the shot we got that date and with the recent closure of the auto shop across the street, and the cloudy conditions, I figured what better Saturday to re-film it. Typical LaGrange County 3 minute alert activated by my co workers every Saturday at noon.

Saginaw and Alpena counties use the MPSCS too, and they do not have the Prism boxes. They just have standard FCs.
I think that’s probably just for general 911 dispatch/paging. Our good friends in Allegan county moved to MPSCS back in 2017, but continue to maintain the VHF system for the sirens. We will probably see more counties upgrade their sirens to P25 as it becomes more and more expensive to maintain a separate VHF system.
@@WarningSirensOfMichiana Both Alpena and Saginaw Counties have specific Talkgroups set up for siren systems, and I’ve heard FSK on Saginaw’s before. Another radio shop I work with pretty closely for my job says that you can use pretty much any model of radio capable of P25 trunking for sirens on the MPSCS. I think the PRISM unit is just the one that Motorola/Michigan is screaming at everyone to use.

@@WarningSirensOfMichiana I’ve also never worked on anything MPSCS related on a siren but I see 0 reason why they’d have to make a special radio just for sirens… if station alerting systems can run on your standard off the shelf radio on this system then a siren should too.
@@niks_crazy_world yeah the whole thing seemed pretty iffy to me…Ottawa County OH has had their sirens on P25 for years so it seemed kinda weird that the Prism radio HAD to be used
