Back by unpopular demand, but here’s my rendition of arguably one of my favourite songs from 2023. I do hope you enjoy it ☺️
3:36 cracked me up
Id love to hear more about the earlier days of OAA and how some songs came to be.
ayyyyyye fucking great cover 🥵
MAKE SOME MORE MUSIC BROTHER
Saw Oceans and got to meet you in Fresno, CA at a small venue called strummers. You killed it in my opinion and carried with confidence.
The cover is amazing, for me this is the best album OAA made. In another note, that tattoo design behind you on the wall is ... holy! beatuful!
Miss you lad!!! 🤟🏻
this song was the one that originally got me into oaa back in 2017
You killed it bro, loved the album it still goes so hard even today.
Hell yes 🤘
You're so sick mate
absolute bop!
big love bro! Glen
pew ❤
Dude, what... literally, my favorite song off of the album (Hikari) was "Hansha", that was the song that stuck out to me the most amongst the others on the tracklist. I understand, you just felt really uncomfortable and nervous about performing it, but you were fucking amazing. Also, "Escapist" is perfect, too. Those two were actual gold to me and have inspired me to continue writing lyrics for more "out there" kind of things. But this is incredible, I finally get to tell you, I adored your performances. I wish you were on other albums or songs so I could get those as well (buy them from itunes).
I know it’s a long shot but I’m always down for a collab. I only got my older stuff on CZcams but I’m planning to put Newer stuff up eventually
make more videos like this with the songs form Hikari plsss
Be proud of what you do!
I had been listening to OAA from around the time of Taming Lions, but with the release of Hikari I was absolutely enraptured, Hansha being one of my favorites from the album, but the entire thing front to back is absolute perfection. I even got a tattoo with the kanji and the lyrics to the title track. When anyone asks what my favorite album is I say Hikari, and I always tell people to check out Hansha bc its pretty friendly to new listeners but also goes extremely hard. Its a perfect dichotomy with the beauty and etherealness of the ambience and then this crushing drum and guitar layer. And your voice is perfect for this kind of vibe. I had always appreciated James prior but I think this album couldn't be done without you. Despite the difficulty of performing it live, when I saw it, it was phenomenal. TL;DR: I like this song a lot and appreciate your vocals, it's my favorite album ever. Thanks for bringing such beauty, soul, and carnage to my favorite album.
You sound like a 1700s British man and i love it.
THANKYOU JAKE!!! :)
Your vocals are the reason why I got into OAA, you have so much talent!
I'll bite... why DO you wear two nose rings? 👀
500th sub for the vocalist of my favorite OAA album (no disrespect to James, he's a killer too). Good on you, both of you, for speaking out about your experiences in the band - doesn't sound like an environment conducive to anybody's wellbeing. Oh, and you still got it, mate. Crushed this one!
❤❤❤❤
Collab with landmvrks
Yes please 😩😩😩
Incredible stuff! Well done 👏
Thanks a lot!
I love oaa a ton, but if I’m honest, as a drummer, I listen to their music mostly for Chris’s playing, except for Hikari. Hikari as a whole is just oaa’s sound perfected, in my opinion. I miss your vocals in their music man.
I have a question, how many baby wipe showers do you guys take on the road?
I'm glad you made this video because I've tried countless times to sing along to Hansha, but my voice can hardly keep up even when it's in its best condition. I thought honestly that it was easy for you to sing like that and I felt like I was not doing very well as a singer because I couldn't hit the high notes consistently. Obviously that's not the case and to be fair some of it was just insecurity in my own voice that already existed. But I needed this kind of vulnerability because it's so common for vocalists to do this sort of thing and I find it doesn't get talked about very often. Thanks bro. 🤜
Lemme bend your ear. In 2018, I saw Oceans play at a tiny venue in the industrial sector of Salt Lake City. I was having an absolutely brutal time, my ex was hitting me, my sister had just died, was doing a lot of cocaine. But I’d never heard music like this at a venue like that. Never at a place with a nearly flush stage, never in a venue where merch crews and roadies nearly outnumbered the audience members. I still remember how heavy that pit was. Really changed my perspective on live music and threw me feet first into the modern metal scene on a whim. I’m super glad I walked into that show and paid the $10 door fee after walking away from my ex after a big blow up. Thanks for that, dude.
You can get Fentanyl free coke? Wow, enjoi that..
Copyright by original vocalist, lol 😂
Jake?
You thinking of being in a new band
I can definitely see why vocally this song is hard to perform especially as part of a set. By far will always be one of my favorite OAA songs though
I listen to this song pretty much daily.
DAMN.....
Ah man, this was so great to see/hear :) well done man! Would love to have you on a feature Jake!
That would be cool!
Omg the guy from OAA!!!
Come on man don’t leave us hanging
You should cover a song from imminence
Yea I could see this song being a nightmare to sing live. Only thing ya could really do is try to mellow it out.
Deadweight cover would be dope
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Seeing you wear that shirt. I hope to see you and Ryo collab on a song together. He’s always down to work with other artists. ❤
I love that man! He’s a good friend ☺️
I enjoyed it.
Hey Jake i think you should do a Scarlet Periphery cover youd sound pretty good on it.
One of my all time fave songs
This 50+ geezer witness your oaa performance in Pomona, California, a couple years ago at the Glass House. My daughter and I were blown away. It was a mesmerizing ocean of sound that I will never forget. I had followed the band for maybe 2 years prior. I've seen thousands of bands perform in and around Hollywood over the last 35 years, and I would have to say, that night is my favorite memory. Cheers to you and the band. I'm still in awe over your vocals. We'll done and thanks.
When hikari came out i was nervous about it bcus i came up on songs like clocks, and to catch a flame so i was well used to james, but then hansha comes on and blew me away!! That gave me the full confidence in you as frontman.. i havent seen oceans live with you in it but im sure it was still good
Collaborate with Jutes.
