HMX Cheese (on Neo80) - It's Cheesy
The ol' reliable HMX switches... nothing more I can say now. I like how it still sounds bright even when there's plate foam. If we were to compare, I'd say the Cheese sounds similar to the Xinhai and Hyacinth V2U. It's loud and bright, but not so much like the Owlab Neons.
It's as good as you can get with ~0.3¢ per switch. I believe HMX switches are your go-to 'no muss no fuss' switches where you don't need to go through the trouble of re-lubing or worry about the wobble. But as I said on the video, they might feel too light for some, so consider spring swapping if you want heavier typing feel.
For my Indonesian friends, I got the HMX Cheese from KeebsMark (@MoruDay). Make sure to check them out if you're considering to get one!

I agree that they do sound better on softer plates. I have them in my Encore on the PP plate and they sound fantastic!

i mostly use plate foam for all of my personal builds. i feel like they just even out the sounds so much better.

How do you like the Catmints? Are they loud like the HMX Xinhai or Owlab Neons? I love the sound signature
I would say the Catmints are more similar to the Xinhai. Catmint's clacks aren't as high-pitched and dry like the Neons.

cycle7 is really a good board for the price, can't go wrong with any switches and the keyboard is so good to interpreter switch sound.
i agree, the acoustics on the Cycle7 is just too good.
👀👍! i do tend to think that most hmx switches tend to sound very similar, so maybe choose a switch from a different brand would be nice for a change of pace.

I've only tried 3 HMX switches, and the other two aside from the Hyacinths V2U do sound similar. waiting for my Gateron Lunar Probe to arrive!
