Ocean Alliance
Registrace 12. 09. 2013
Ocean Alliance, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization, was founded in 1971 by biologist Roger Payne. Led by CEO, Iain Kerr, Ocean Alliance collects a broad spectrum of data on whales and ocean life relating particularly to toxicology, behavior, bioacoustics, and genetics. From that data we work with our scientific partners to advise educators and policy makers on wise stewardship of the oceans to: reduce pollution, prevent the collapse of marine mammal populations, maintain human access to fish and other sea life, and promote ocean and human health.
Captain Bob Wallace: Two and a Half World Voyages
We had the privilege to sit down with Captain Bob Wallace, former captain and engineer of Ocean Alliance's research vessel the Odyssey, to discuss his many years at sea, The Voyage of the Odyssey, favorite memories, and current endeavors.
Ocean Alliance is incredibly grateful for Bob's many decades of hard work, and we consider him an integral part of the OA family.
We love you Bob!

Video of Salt taken by SnotBot. Here we collected exhaled breath condensate samples for microbiome analysis from one of the most well known humpback whales on Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. Salt was first sighted in 1976. Her name was inspired not by markings on her tail, but by markings on her dorsal fin. Salt’s dorsal fin has a lot of white scarring on it, and researchers thought ...

Ocean Alliance & Sea Shepherd Clean-Up The Paint Factory
One day, I want to explore the ocean and be friends with the wildlife! ❤
*WW2 engines starting up* Here comes the airplane! 😂
So glad you had success in the Azores and look forward to hearing more. Great video!
This is such an amazing update about what's going on over there! I love this information, and it's definitely something everyone needs to know! Chris did an amazing job on this video. Will there be a video about the results from the trip and the collections from snotbot?
As a child, left by my father at 3, but with a strong willed farm girl for a mother who got her Masters in biology, I have a great love of the world God made, but apprehension of the human world. As a child carted to Arvo conventions in Florida every year, I loved marine life so much. I collected shells from the sea and coral from the hotel shops. I went to sea world and thought I would be a trainer there someday. However, it wasn't at Sea World where my deep love of whales came from. At some point I do not remember now, my mother bought me a cd with the sounds of humpback whales. You see, I was an uncertain scared child, waiting for something bad to happen, since it had suddenly before, and my mother would buy me things I picked out to relax me. Nothing helped me more than the sounds of whales melodicaly singing/talking to eachother, themselves, I don't remember. I would imagine myself floating in a huge darkened ocean with them. Gracefully, almost weightless, in the deep, deep blue sea, and their relaxing, angelic sounds would lull me to a content I had not known before then. And for the first time I was able to go to sleep in peace and in my own bed. That is where my live began. Not imagining them in a prison of concrete. But out in the outer space that is the ocean I was transported by each drawn out melody of notes in awe and wonder at what beautiful, magical, enchanting creatures could make such sound. I have always wanted to see them in the ocean, particularly blue whales or humpback, but I have a chronic illness and 4 children with my husband who works very hard for us. My mother helps too,, but with all of us, and my condition, I do not know I ever will...But I hope they are in some way in heaven. Thank you God for whales.
Lovely to see this, Bob & Odyssey folks. I know this is 7 1/2 years old, but still pretty cool to view. Thanks.
That's annoying
Well done!
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Sounds like a motorcycle engine
Sounds like me trying to win a match of Sky Wars in Minecraft
I don't get it
@@Emyyaj yeah, i made stupid jokes back then. Welp, basically the whale sounds like someone clicking a mouse.
Amazing!! THank you for posting this. Sperm whale clicks are powerful enough to kill a human because it is around 200 DB, louder than standing next to a jet.
What species of whale is this beautiful creature??
Humpback whale, it’s in the title if you did not notice.
People say it’s loud enough to kill you
Also this noise is killing me rn
But they arnt close to one
It is. They do it to prey and at 233 decibels so it could vibrate you to death and take out your ear drums.

Awesome footage, awesome work, awesome people ...
❤❤❤❤❤
the thing is , they comunicate in a low frequency sound , so we just can hear the high pits from it , its actually so loud that you could go deaf if to near from them outside the water
Drones are amazing tools for many kinds of research! We used an off the shelf Mavic Pro to chart seagrass meadows in the Mediterranean down to the centimetre! And all it took is a small drone and a bunch of time... (Videos in our channel) Always happy to see more creative ways of using technology for smart things!
Thank u ocean Alliance !!!!
Awesome one. Please share more drone footage of the whales
Paintball gun
I wonder if sperm whales like motocross.
Inspiring and amazing work! UAV's are invaluable. Keep it up!
Those wonderful creatures are so precious. All Humans should protect them whatever it takes!
Lovely whales! Nice video! thank you!
BP jeopardized Biodiversity of the Ocean in the Gulf! Thank you for repairing the damaged caused by BP!

Great collaboration for a torny issue for biodiversity this bloody Toxic gulf!! Thank you for your great actions to cure this! I hope you will get support (at least Financial support) from the Govenment and from BP because this is in their responsibilities !
Go Sea Shepherd and Ocean Alliance!!! keep up the great work! thank you!
Toxic Gulf of Mexico needs great collaboration to save Precious Marine life and Oceans!
Sounds like the sperm whale went nuts!
Thank you to dedicate skills on drones to service a Great Cause! Oceans Alliance!
This great work gives me hope in Humanity and for the Future of Biodiversity! I do hope we could live in better harmony altogether with all the Ecosystems!
Thank you Oceans Alliance for the wonderful work!
Great work!!
It sounds like a machine nail gun.
It is so awesome to see our Colorado XT Pontoon Boat being used to help prefect the innovative practices when collecting data on whales!!
What a great little video ! I have sailed past those buildings many times....they are treasures.
It sounds like a radiation device material or a biohazard material
That's brilliant!!!! Congrats on the initiative!
Brilliant! Kudos to all.
This is awesome! Thank You to those involved in helping to learn more about whales & their environment & do research without harming or stressing them in any way. I hope you win the Drone Social Innovation Award... you certainly deserve it. Can't wait to hear how all of this goes, best of luck :-)
