Drones For Whale Research

The potential for drones to collect data on marine mammals (without them effecting the animas behavior) is enormous. The ultimate benign research tools.
Over the last 3 years we have been developing our whale drones with Olin College of Engineering. Please like this video as we submit our work for the Drone Social Innovation Award.
Ocean Alliance collects a broad spectrum of data on whales relating particularly to toxicology, bioacoustics, and genetics. From that data we and our scientific partners advise education and policy makers on wise stewardship of the oceans, to reduce pollution, to prevent the collapse of marine mammals, fish populations, and other sea life.

Drones are amazing tools for many kinds of research! We used an off the shelf Mavic Pro to chart seagrass meadows in the Mediterranean down to the centimetre! And all it took is a small drone and a bunch of time... (Videos in our channel)
Always happy to see more creative ways of using technology for smart things!
