How we harvest a mile long corn field
If I remember correctly, you plant in 20” for the corn and beans, does that mean u aim for higher pop in both? If so what the ideal pop be or would a range of seeding rates be? Good luck this season and good wishes for your dad 👍
I don’t run any higher populations. I planted all the corn at 32,000 except one poor farm at 31,000 and that was still to thick the way it’s looking. Beans I plant at 150,000 and double crops at 165,000. Most guys plant 34,000 around here. I always think it’s gonna be dry and hot and plant accordingly. And thank you.
Isn’t it funny how we all go back to our natural position. I find whenever I’m carrying a two person load it’s always natural to be the one walking backwards 😂
Haha. Yep.
Another great vid! Stay safe!
Thank you. Thanks for watching
I having hard time finding time to watch CZcams, surprised you found to post but was fun to watch. Still surprises me how fast can go from mud to so dry.
Hope your dad gets better, my dads got progressing alzheimers and sits on the couch all day staring at the ceiling, last few weeks he claps his hands all the time😆. I bet your dad might like your TV show now, can keep an eye on ya😆
I’m sure sorry about your dad. That is a terrible disease. Dad’s eyesight has gotten pretty bad. He don’t even watch tv anymore.
I’m done with wheat but only had 32 acres. Harvest is about a week early around here. We are set up for a dry spell all week so not sure when I will get the double crop beans planted. We need rain!
We are getting dry here now also. Corn was started to roll today. There is still some moisture in the wheat stubble fields so I’m gonna work on getting them all planted before worrying about the bottom ground. Harvest was a week early here too. Can’t ever remember being done by June 14.
Beautiful crop. Nice of her to help you out.
Thank you. She was really looking forward to running the combine.
I agree with you on the bikini thing 🤦♂️ but this fall you and I should do harvest videos in bikinis. Just think of the views we’d get 😂😂
Oh yes, I will have to get my pink thong out again. Lol
If you do that all the manufacturers will be letting you guys demo all kinds of shit
@@markcollmer 🤣😂😆
Cash flow for the summer. Right out the door. Haha
Wheat is probably two weeks up here in vermilion county.
I watched the video the other day with you in the combine set and knew that was not going to be long lived, lol. My wife will not get in the combine and forget about driving it. We had a good laugh the othet day. It was her 1st time on the zero turn. She wanted to try it. Glad your done with wheat. They will be starting in about a week or so here.
Haha. Yes, getting her familiar with the combine the first few days while we was close to the bins was my goal. Then when we got farther away I could have her run it while I hauled the wheat.
🇺🇸🗽🚜👌
I had missed this video, always a joy to watch 🚜🗽🇺🇸
Thanks for watching
Sheri's maneuver @ end of row, w/ A 360 degree rotation & right back down the direction from which she came, well for those that noticed, that turn was textbook.🇺🇸🗽🚜💡👌
In fairness to the task, if required to operate a combine for long hours, yours provides the creature comforts unheard of 40 years ago, A/C the exception.
Very happy for you, that Sheri is able to adapt to combine operator. I know you don't mind that you Dad helped a bit.Late harvest combine operation w/ corn/beans is more difficult, so this experience w/ poverty grass will prove valuable. 🗽🇺🇸🚜
Happy Sunday morning Happy Farmer .FFA class went out look at students projects(1965)teacher requested we get involved with farming. They had hogs husband and wife out tilling the ground with 2 830 jds she had blue coveralls , jacket , hat with a big smile on her face late wife Cindy like to pick corn said it was easy just to watch 2rows no-till beans when we first got married in the 80s .She she was a small town city girl .Just some history Happy
Man yeah Mr Jeff, that was awesome!!! She did amazing!!! Glad y'all got it knocked out!! I can see now more than ever after a recent event my way...what you mean about "just gotta have his hands in everything" Prayers for him , you and the family! I had no idea how stubborns Dad's can be until Dad had his surgery 🤦🏻♂️ Hope the planting goes well, and the weather cooperates!! Y'all make a great team during harvest!! Beautiful views at the end!! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻 Team Sherri 😉😁🌾🌾🌾🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you Nelson. It’s been a trying year so far, but at least we are making progress, Slowly, but progress. Lol
@@onehappyfarmer3461 😁😁😁👍🏻👍🏻
@@Pennies_on_the_dollarmothers can be very trying too when they get into their 90’s trust me. I’m living it first hand right now 🤦♂️
@@TheGrumpyFarmer Bless you for sure , I cant imagine
Looks like shes a good operator Jeff
She did a very good job. Nothing wrecked, nothing broken, what more could you ask for. lol
Look at you guys go! Looks more like wheat harvest down here being dry and with all the dust. Hope your Dad is OK Jeff, it is very hard on them and you when they can't do what they always have. Thanks for sharing.
You are so right. I know it’s eating him up not running the one thing he lived to do.
Teamwork makes the dreamwork
I like that saying. Thanks for the comment.
The poverty grass looks really good this year great video take good care of that hot combine operator ❤❤❤❤
Yes, we been blessed with a good harvest and Sheri has been a real cornerstone keeping me standing this spring.
The last shot was epic Jeff
Thank you Jan.
Hope your dad feels better soon and is back at it. Awesome how your wife jumped right in to help. She must be a quick learner!
She caught on fast but I did teach her, so what else would you expect ? Hahahaha
@@onehappyfarmer3461 LOL
Looked like your wife was doing a bang up job running the combine. It looks like this wasn't her first time?
To tell the truth, and it’s embarrassing, We been together over 30 years and this week was the first time she’s been in a combine. She started riding with me Wednesday and then she was running it a little Thursday and Friday with me in there, and today she was on her own. About 10 hours today and she did a fine job. I taught her everything she knows about combining. Basically we learned together. I combined more when I was under 16 than I did until this week. Once I got my drivers license I hauled grain. Dad has always been obsessed with running a combine.
You better watch out, most of the other channels the women run the grain cart and not the combine. They may have Kamela Harris come give you an award for moving the equality of women in the workforce forward.
If she should show up here……I guess I will be making videos from prison then.
Jeff I am glad you got your weight done. 🙂🌾🌾🌾 Thank you for the video I enjoyed watching it. 🙂
Thank you Bean. I sure hope you are getting along ok.
OK I thought your wife running the combine was mind blowing but then you had Rap music playing ? JEFF are you OK
If you heard rap music, that was by accident. I do not listen to rap…. The radio station must have slipped it in because i wasn’t focused on the radio. Lol
Beautiful looking wheat Jeff!
@@kevinmeyer3884. Thank you. I haven’t seen this nice of wheat in years.
@onehappyfarmer3461 I listen to about every radio station on the air . Long days in the cab the same songs every 3 hours gets old after awhile
If you move 3 more gals in you'd have it made..... if you keep her in the combine long hours it may take her a month before she notices them extra roomies👍 glad to see you're making headway. Happy farming
Well they would have to chip in and take care of the house work. She’s told me several times that if I get a girlfriend she has to help clean house. Lol
@@onehappyfarmer3461 if they are the same size.....they could share the lingerie 👍🤣🤣🤣🤣
SAME HERE JEFF SOME GUYS ARE JUST FINISHING FIRST CROP BEANS I FINISHED MINE ON THE 7TH AND THERE UP OUT OF GROUND LOOKING GOOD,JUST SEEN A YOU TUB VIDIEO OF TRACTOR SUPPLY WENT WOKE LIKE BUDWIESER DID.
Oh really? I better see what’s that over. I don’t go there much because they don’t have things I need on a weekend. Went there needing plow bolts. The guy there had no idea what a plow bolt was. I haven’t been back.
We finally finished planting yesterday morning. Then we planted a quarter for another farmer so he could finish today because we are supposed to get dumped on Sunday night & Monday. They are calling for 3 to 5 inches before it's all over. Congratulations on finishing the wheat harvest & I hope the rest of planting goes smoothly.
Thank you. I think I’d be scared to plant beans in front of a toad strangler like that. But if you don’t plant it won’t rain much and if you do, you get to do it again. That’s my luck anyway. Lol
Jeff. Glad you brought up Dad. I was wondering about your videos this year. I don't catch them all. Just noticed. My old man and myself are very relative to you guys. Younger. But it's odd . I watch you religious
Thank you, thanks for the comment and for watching.
Wow, what a crop of wheat, that was amazing! My old 33 would be choking, lol.
Haha. You would just take a narrower swath.
Thanks for sharing while you’re so busy. Keep grinding buddy
Thanks for watching. It’s definitely been an eye opening experience doing everything myself. Dad always had the things he just absolutely loved to do. He lived to combine. Combing was his mistress.
"Son you're gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln!" Like your music choice.
Thanks for watching
I loved cutting wheat even if its hot and dusty and its just something to watch the wheat rolling into the combine from the head. Thanks for posting this one Jeff I enjoyed a lot ! Bandit
Thank you Don.
@@onehappyfarmer3461 I was watching Digginok and he was cutting wheat with an open station Gleaner A like I had years ago and boy did it bring back the memories. There is just something about watching from the drivers seat cutting wheat. Something about the flow of wheat threw the head into the machine heck its almost like water flowing. I do enjoy the video's Jeff I just dont comment that often unless something that really catches my eyes like the wheat cutting video but I like them all. Bandit
@@banditfarmer1900 When I was a little kid dad had an open station A lol.
@@onehappyfarmer3461 They were good old machines and I put a lot of acres threw the ones I had. I cut 50 acres of timothy threw one of them and about the same in clover but that one had a scour cleaner on it and it really did a good job and I ended up selling it to the guy I was cutting for. For some reason I liked the Gleaner A's a lot better than the E's or K's, They just seamed to do a better job and to me they were built a little heaver to. I'd love to see some of the popular big youtube farmers run an old open station combine we ran years ago and just see what they do and say about it ! LOL Bandit
Now up here i vermilion county we need some rain. No forcast of rain until late next week.
It got dry here in the last 3 days. 90 plus degrees and 25 mph winds dry things out fast.
👍👍
Thanks for watching
I hope your dad gets better soon. A super treat for me to see you driving a combine. Thank you for that, Jeff. 🙂🙂
Thank you Bean.
Had enough soil moisture for it to grow, that for sure.
I was afraid we had to much moisture. Wheat don’t like wet feet and we was wet during flowering and pollination.
Make that copilot into the pilot. Then you can keep planting beans at the same time
I did and then I get to unload again. Lol
Ole poverty grass is looking pretty good coming into that NH 😁 See you had a co-pilot too 😉 Hope things are as well as possible, its a different view from "inside " the combine. Thank you Mr Jeff for bringing us along, look fwd to more!! 😁😁🌾🌾🌾🌾🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for watching, yes she was getting educated on how to run it.
Looking good Jeff. Great to see all that grain coming in on the platform.
Thank you
I see you have that hot 🔥 woman riding with you you lucky Dog 🐕❤❤😂
Wow, Jeff in the driver seat of the combine! Got his wife there with him. Don't get any better than that does it? Hoping your dad is doing better though.
I about had enough of the drivers seat for one season. Between planting, spraying, and now combining……sure glad to pass off the combine duties for a few days. I can’t say enough for all the help Sheri and my son in law have been. Had a couple friends help me out too. I’ve spent my entire life working alongside dad. Didn’t need to ask or be told what to do. We just knew what the other was thinking. It’s sure different needing help from others.
@@onehappyfarmer3461 For sure!
This was a surprise cut Jeff, I forgot you have wheat
Yes, for some reason I felt the need to punish myself and raise wheat again.
How are you going to make a living from CZcams ? You're going to have to learn to shut everything down to get them videos edited and released on time....... you're messing with my bedtime 👍🤣🤣🤣🤣 Glad to see you're getting along good..... not to wish any bad luck with wheat.... but I could use some rain ..... I just stuck some corn in ground for silage. Take care.
CZcams is definitely not a priority in my life right now. I sure ain’t making videos every day. I can barely stand to watch much farming videos anymore. Way to many clowns on there embarrassing agriculture anymore.
It just seems weird that here you are combining wheat & we were planting beans today & will be planting our last field tomorrow finally. We got lucky today & missed a big thunderstorm with heavy rain & hail that went 3 miles north of us. Hope the rest of wheat harvest goes well for you.
I’m still planting beans too. Plant till noon then cut wheat the rest of the day. As of this morning, I’m down to 130 acres left to plant first crop.

Been a dry summer not surprised your cutting so soon
The wheat was just ahead of normal all spring. When it was shooting heads the last week of April I knew it was gonna be early.
I know it is late this year, but I don't remember seeing beans grow this fast. The emergence has been the best I ever remember. They are gowing fast. Maybe we are trying to plant too early. Good luck with the rest of your planting.
I agree with you on the beans. The guys that got beans in a week or 2 ago have just the nicest beans I’ve seen so quick. My early beans have been in dirt 48 hours now. Lol
